Essendrum dips his head as the steam, smoke, and bits of toasted reptile pass over him. “I may have miscalculated a bit.” He jots down a note about the secondary blast effects of steam.
Kiza calls out in alarm "Spike are you alright over there?" She gives Essendrum a disapproving look "You should have waited for Spike to be clear before letting loose a fireball" she will then head across the towards Spike to check on him.
The party consolidates on the other side of the bridge, into a 4-way intersection of the hallway. (It doesn't show up on this map but there is a passage to the north as well.) After the encounters with the Mephits and now confirming there are Troglodytes about, having seen several depictions on the walls of a few rooms, the party is slightly damaged and a bit worn. After displaying the cuts he has from ice shards in a probably unsuccessful attempt to generate some sympathy (down 8 hit points), Essendrum investigates for any sign of passage that might tell them which fork to take, muttering something about a twenty foot radius and flammability.
"I still have some magic to spare," replied Enoch as he placed a hand on Spike. There was a brief golden energy from the paladin's palm as he uttered a prayer; the magic flowed into Spike, healing some of his burns.
Enoch uses Lay on Hands to grant 10 HP to Spike. Down to 5 HP left, I'll try to save it in case we need another cure effect of some sort.
Kiza and Essendrum both take an interest in the intersection while Enoch heals Spike for 10 h.p. Neither Kiza nor Essendrum finds anything that stands out as "Someone passed here" but it is probably due to the thin layer of water that covers this passageway. Both do hear what sounds like movement coming from the western passage.
"Well, I found no tracks, but I hear movement down the western passage. Venti my dear go check it out and please fly back if there is any danger" says Kiza as she releases Venti the bat into the air to scout ahead down the western passage.
Kiza will close her own eyes and peer through the eyes of her familiar as he flies away.

Venti, the bat, travels only a short distance till the hallway ends into a 20 ft. x 30 ft. room with a door along the north wall. A few broken chairs and a piece of a table are scattered across the floor of this room. A large bed takes up most of the southern and southwest corner of the room. It is large enough for 3 large human-sized people to sleep comfortably. Trash and rotting food litter the bed and around it. Venti does not see anyone who might have been responsible for the movement Kiza and Essendrum heard. Out of nowhere, a clawed hand strikes out at Venti. Attack 1: 14 Damage, if hit: 8 Attack 2: 27 Damage, if hits: 2
Kiza opens her eyes wide and keeps her beak shut as she lets out muffled swearing that goes on for moment. "Venti was destroyed by something large. All I saw was a clawed hand. So, I don't know what kind of creature it was" she then describes the massive bed and scattered furniture.
Essendrum shows a faint grim smile and turns to Spike. “Troglodytes are well known for their ability to hide. They are also famous for having claws. Of all of us, you are most likely to withstand their debilitating stench. I suggest you lead. I promise not to incinerate the room unless you ask me to.”
Essendrum bows slightly and gestures down the hall.
Enoch shook his head at the loss of their scout, even if only temporary. "I'll be right behind you, Spike," he said as he raised his shield and stepped closed behind his companion.

Enoch grimaced at the fireball, but couldn't condemn it's effectiveness. He had NOT been wanting to deal with those creatures while on this terrain!
The paladin waited for the others to cross, then slowly made his way over as well.
