”Confounded bird!” exclaims Spike. “This better be worth delaying my meal,” he adds, getting up to follow this agitated sky rat to figure out if the mage got himself into some kind of trouble already.

Bjorn notices the Mage and the Dwarf moving off, hoping they aren't going to perform any mischief. "What type of entertainment does this establishment have?" he asks the server. "and what do you suggest for our meal tonight?"
"I'll have ale, bread, and two bowls of soup, different ones. I think I might try finding a favorite." Enoch grinned a bit sheepishly at his own openness, then noticed Essendrum's familiar. He turned to ask Essendrum about it, and realized he hadn't sat with them.
"What type of entertainment does this establishment have? and what do you suggest for our meal tonight?"
"Well, I guess he can hold the fort down here," he thought as he stood. Leaning down to speak in a low voice, he told Bjorn, "I'm going to follow the others, just in case. I'm sure it's nothing though, so please be sure to ask for plenty of butter when he the bread arrives!" With that, the young adventurer followed after Kiza.
The raven leads them up the stairs. It croaks, “Wendycansew, Wendycansew,” mostly to itself, as they approach the second floor. It falls silent as they reach the hallway and cocks its head in the direction of the bend where its master is.
It flutters to Flint’s shoulder and glares at him, pecking his hand away if he reaches for it, croaking out a strangled rasp that it apparently thinks counts as a whisper: “Be Wendy.”
Watching with amusement as the bird attempts to perch on and/or between the spikes in his armor, Spike moves down the hallway, looking for the mage and/or anything unusual that may have alarmed the bird.

The waiter watches as most of the party gets up and walks briskly away from the table. "The common lavatories are outside and to the right of the House, near the stables!" he calls to Flint, Kiza, and eventually Enoch. The waiter turns to Bjorn. "I guess you did not eat what they ate earlier," he remarks. "There are no scheduled entertainers for the next couple of days. As for my suggestions, your companions may want to wait a day or two before eating anything. I would recommend the soup and bread." his demeanor is a bit disinterested. "Is there something you are looking for?" he asks.
Essendrum
Essendrum moves to the door after casting his spell. He listens. There is a slight sound of movement coming from the other side of the door but nothing more.
Flint, Kizaand Enoch
After Enoch catches up with Kiza, Flint, and Essendrum Raven, the group moves up the stairs and into the hallway. After a few steps, the group sees Essendrum standing outside of a room, leaning close to it with his head turned to the side.
The hallway is empty and no sounds are coming from any of the rooms.
What does Essendrum share and what does the party do?
Essendrum moves away from the door to where the party is and speaks softly.
”I was in search of a library and came across a shadow without a body. I suspect it is an evil undead creature and after finding the ‘item’ to be necromantic in nature and hearing the voice of the evil dead on the wind last night, I feel we would be unwise to ignore this ‘coincidence” lest the forces of chaos outpace us! It went under that door.”
He points at the door and waits to see what his companions would like to do.
The raven hops over to his shoulder and rasps conspiratorially, “coincidence!”
Enoch frowned. He slowly pulled his shield from his back and donned it, then crept towards the room. "I'll check it out," he whispered. "Be ready for anything." Once in front of the door, he looked back to make sure everyone was ready.
After donning his shield, Enoch is planning on opening the door; but if anyone is going to protest or propose something else, now would be a great time!
Somewhat incongruously, Spike pulls out his magic tankard to join his readied spiked shield (apparently that is his magic weapon for fighting incorporeal undead).

(( Enoch will slowly, stealthily turn the door handle. If unlocked, he will open the door wide and rush right in, giving the others room to look and come in behind him, while holding up his shield to defend them.
If locked, he'll shrug, point to the lock and wave Kiza over. ))
Somewhat incongruously, Essendrum pulls out his grimoire to join his readied quill. (Whether this is because it is his preferred arcane spell focus for fighting incorporeal undead or because he plans to take notes on the effects of life-stealing on Dwarves is anybody’s guess. Most likely both.)
Quoth the raven, “Wendy!” (The fiend has decided the spikes on Flint’s armor are more trouble than they are worth, much like the spikes often used to keep pigeons off statues of nobles in the village square. Instead it flutters near the ceiling, hoping to avoid whatever magical death might blast from the door. The raven secretly wishes the instantaneous death of the meddling wizard might free it from servitude without sending it back to the Nine Hells. In the alternative, it can use this vantage to poop on the wizard’s friends. While the familiar is under strict compulsion to do no harm, it considers occasional incontinence to be relatively harmless.)
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Kiza motions for Enock to back up a bit and then she pulls out a leather folio that folds out revealing all kinds of dexterous tool. She looks at the lock and gets to work.
With great ease and finesse, Kiza picks the lock and unlocks the door. ((Next is an assumption due to the last few posts. Let me know if it's wrong or if your actions have changed any.))
Kiza steps back and with his shield in hand, Enock opens the door and walks in a step. The room, a 30 ft. x 30 ft. suite, is covered in darkness. As you look around, the scent of burnt wood and fabric assails your senses. Your eyes adjust and you find the interior of the room, walls, furniture, and floor are all covered in black char, the remanence of a massive fire. In the middle of the east wall, the first sight that you see when your eyes adjust is a large canopy bed. The foot of the bed protrudes into the middle of the room and its fabric is in burnt tatters. Upon the bed lay corpse, its head turned to the left and tilted up, its mouth wide open. It looks as if this was the last act of whoever this was when they were living. In the hands of the corpse is a book, lying open in its lap with the corpse's hands still holding onto each side of the open book. The smell of burnt flesh finally reaches you and each of you almost retch from the smell. There is a burnt dresser along the south wall and a nightstand to the right of the bed. You see nothing else in this room, not even Flint's night vision gives any more detail.
Bjorn
Bjorn sits there patiently waiting for the party's return when there is a flurry of movement from outside. 3 men, armed with spears and swords rush inside and turn to the right. Seconds later Bjorn hears their footsteps rushing up what he believes are stairs.
