Enoch watches everything going on around him passively. He focuses on what the others are doing and, due to his human nature, is dependent upon light to be able to see things. Abruptly there is a flash of pain that stabs at the paladin's mind. Within a second it is calmed by the touch of the divine that harbors within his soul and the pain passes. However, he knows something is wrong. Enoch calms his breathing and focuses on the divine light shared with him from his God and opens his eyes wide, knowing that there are Undead close and coming towards him from one of the hallways.
Kiza holds her breathe as she here the statue, but nothing happen. She was half expecting bolts of magic to slam into her though she is very grateful that did not happen yet.

Kiza recognizes the distinct sound of a "click" when she & Spike approach the hallway prior to the wall sliding in front of the both of you.
Upon hearing the click the first thing Kiza thinks of is a trap. She examines what is underneath her feat. Was it a pressure plate or a mechanism to open the sliding wall. "Spike I heard a click right before the wall slid open. Let see what is going on"
Enoch suddenly winced as he squeezed his eyes shut, trying to drive away the pain that had come upon him without warning. It disappeared in a flash, and his eyes flew open.
"UNDEAD!!" he yelled, trying to sound calm even while being loud enough to alert the others down the hall. "They're coming... from one of the hallways, and they'll be here any second!"
He raised his shield as he backed up a bit towards his remaining two companions. He softly whispered a prayer as he tapped them both with the back of his hand that held his sword. "Sorry to bless you without warning," he said, injecting a bit of joviality into his words. "I figured we're about to need it."
(( Enoch casts Bless, targeting himself, Essendrum and Bjorn. ))
Essendrum steps to the edge of the tunnel from the room of the statue but remains in the tunnel. He shouts over to Enoch, “This wall was a mechanical trap which may also have opened another door.” He points the triggering stone out to Kiza. “Shall we conduct an experiment? I’m working on a brief folio on the relative flammability of various forms of undead. I prefer consultation with clerics to field work, but needs must!”
Flames dance on his finger tips and they are matched by a sparkle in his eyes.
"Zombies. Zombies are coming." whispers that familiar voice he hears when undead are near. Enoch has always thought he had a guardian angel and every time he uses this ability the voice that warns him confirms this belief.
The party waits. Only a couple of minutes pass but the wait seems much longer then you hear the sound of shuffling footsteps coming in your direction. The gait is slow but there is an almost uniform sound in their movement. Essendrum's torch illuminates only a small portion of where the party stands but the shuffling seems to be coming from the east side of this large room. The party turns to the southwest as another group can be heard coming from that direction. A moment later the combined smell of dried flesh and old rotted leather & cloth assaults the party. A second later the first zombie can be seen just outside of the torchlight. Its pale undead skin reflected enough light for the party to see its outline. Though you see 1 you can "feel" the presence of many, many more surrounding the party.
DM: Everyone may have 1 free action then roll initiative, please.
Essendrum casts fireball into the room so that the closest side of the sphere catches the zombies at the edge of the torchlight and the sphere covers the area where they seem to be.
(Torchlight is 20 feet bright and 20 feet dim. The room is 50 x 50. I assume only the far edge of the room should be too dark to see but the description sounds like they are closer. Either way, Essendrum will drop the fireball in the room for maximum effect without catching the party members who are not in the room anyway. If he sees undead streaming in he will wait a moment to catch as many as possible. If he can’t see much, he’ll base his targeting on where the mass sounds to be located.)
”Sounds like a lot of them. Let’s form a defensible position by the room we entered,” suggests Spike. The dwarf moves to just in front of the entrance to the previous room and takes up a defensive position

The party retreats to just outside of the entrance room of this lower level. Each of you takes up a position for the upcoming battle. Kiza uses her Minor Illusion to create a spot for her to hide in. Essendrum extends his hands between Enoch and Spike and casts Fireball. The flames form around his hands as his voice completes the sing-song lyrics of the spell and a small mote of flames flies from his hands and expands as it moves forward. Abruptly, from the darkness comes a voice. It is deep seemingly male and is casting a spell. The darkness around the figure dissipates to reveal a living humanoid form that Bjorn and Spike can see with their dark vision. It is at the entrance of the southeast hall. Essendrum recognizes the spell as one that might interrupt his cast. CounterspellDC 15
