"Oh," Lokilia replies. She doesn't seem to know what the Grey Hunt is either, but she does as Normont asked and does not mention it. "Well, I'm glad it's just a job. Though it would still be bad if they kept you here and you couldn't come with us."
Trina paused for a moment then blinked slowly, " Um......we have a mousse with a chocolate soil.....but it just looks like dirt......we don't get too many folks with a taste for minerals here."
( If PCs wish they can finish the meal and retire for the night, unless anyone has plans.)
“Make that two”, Normont adds, joining the Earth Genasi.
After which he is happy to retire for a good night’s sleep, hoping to go see his Grandfather in the early morning. He knows his Grandfather is early to bed and early to rise, which is why he had left it this evening.
As the meal progresses, Dev seems to lose steam. He asks just to taste the dessert, but his heart isn’t really in it.
He fiddles with his pan pipes, and soon, a sad song of loss naturally grows from his playing. Singing the words of an old boatman’s song to a melody he invents as he goes, the tiefling lets his horns sparkle subtly with electricity, and the sound of an organ or wind blowing through the trees magically accompanies him for the chorus.
The music winds down softly, and his friends know the song was a last goodbye to Magnus.
The teen tiefling seems more animated after having given voice to his grieving, and smiles at the others.
“Let’s get out of here.”

"Mousse? With chocolate something? Yes! I'd love to try that," Lokilia says with a great deal of enthusiasm. Once the dessert arrives, she eagerly eats it. It's only when she is done that she realizes how Dev seems less interested in his own dessert. She listens closely to the sad song and can't help but feel the tug of melancholy from the music.
She feels a bit relieved when he seems more animated afterward. And when he suggests leaving, she is ready to go as well. As the group walks back to the room, she tries to find a moment to catch Dev trailing behind the others. She steps close and takes his arm. "Your song was beautiful Dev. Thanks," she whispers. "Such a nice tribute." She doesn't mention Magnus, but she knows well who that was for. "You are ok, right? I just wanted to make sure."
Normont sits quietly listening to Dev's dirge, nodding his approval once it is finished. Hopefully the temporary bed has been delivered to the room by the time he gets back, at which point he will basically collapse onto it.
Quinn sits quietly then takes when of his locs and cuts it from his head, he then lights on fire and it bursts into golden flame. The short flame lets out an enjoyable aroma that is unique to each party member. The smell represents how they interpreted Magnus.
Quinn will then speak, "In memory of a lost friend."
The companions retire to their chosen beds and the night passes without incident in warm rooms with soft sheets. The inn faces west so the sun is reasonably high above the horizon before they are awakened by the light.......exhaustion from the road finally catching up with them.
Breakfast is already bustling downstairs and it seems the entire inn is crowded into the restaurant.....including a certain Tiefling...
An orcish gentleman is cooking a large pile of blueberry pancakes and there is an assortment of smörgås and danishes to the side.
Normont couldn't remember the last time he slept so well or so deeply. All the cold nights on the road with the threat of the Cerberus Assembly chasing them and who knew what else lurking in the dark, had made for some fitful nights in recent times. But not last night. Being in comfort, warm and safe and home in Whitestone had made all the difference.
He had awoken later than intended, to the sight of Amber watching over him as usual. It hadn't taken long for him to dress and do his ablutions and be ready to head to breakfast. If it hadn't been included in the price, he likely would left for his grandfather's already. That and the amazing smell of pancakes.
He looks way up at the Orc cooking, "Nuts and bolts, those smell good. And that stack is almost as big as me! I think I could take on a couple, if you please".
He will also look for some coffee to go with them.
Normont is loaded up with pancakes and coffee, with the current plan to head to his Grandfathers........with everyone? what is planned for the rest of the day?
Dev is wearing a casual outfit when he joins the others for breakfast, late, after having enjoyed a deep and dreamless slumber. In a bed all to myself, he reminds himself with relish. The softness of the mattress and smooth, subtle cleanness of the bedding and the floating poofiness of the pillow, even the memory of them, droops his eyes shut in rapture, and he inhales deeply the goodness of life. And then, sudden guilt as he remembers that his parents no doubt spent the night sleeping on their usual paper-thin mats with the breeze whistling between the window panes. But… maybe when he returned to Drynna, it would be with enough gold to hire someone to… yes! to completely repair the cottage, and… and, buy them a real bed, that they can sleep in every night.
A smile, warmed by this thought, splits his face as he sits across from Normont with pancakes piled high. He cuts an enormous chunk and forces it into his mouth. At that moment, he spots Balaran. The young bard drops, ducking low and hiding behind Normont’s whiskers, until his cheeks are no longer a pair of red half-orbs circling under his eyes as he chews. He swallows, sits up again, and gestures a shy but smiling hello to the other tiefling.
Lokilia has a restful night in her small room. She had to admit, the bed was cozy, and her sleep had been peaceful, as much as she enjoyed staying outdoors as well. She is up once awakened by the light but takes her time getting ready. It was fun to wear the fancy clothes to dinner the previous night, but this morning it is back to her usual tunic and pants. She did add the navy blue tie she had about her waist last night to her current outfit though.
She joined Normont when he went down to eat, grabbing a little sandwich, a danish, and a couple blueberry pancakes. She converses lightly with the gnome as she eats. "Off to see your grandfather today? He won't be upset at all of us just showing up will he? Or should we all find something else to do this morning?" She manages to eat steadily as she asks questions, and soon is only left with her danish.
When Dev joins the table, she greets him with a smile. "Good morning! Sleep well?" She grins as he stuffs his mouth full of pancakes but then notices Balaran nearby, just after Dev had. Her eyes go wide, and she has to stifle a laugh at Dev's predicament. Thinking to help draw any attention away from Dev while he composes himself, she calls out to the tiefling. "Hi! Good morning! We ran into you yesterday while you were painting?" She hoped he remembered her, though she realizes she had run off rather quickly to let Dev talk to him. She gives him a smile. "It is so nice to see you once again."
As she talks, she hopes she hasn't inadvertently brought more attention to Dev.
"Upset? Oh no, I don't believe so", Normont replies to Lokilia. "It has been many months, I expect he will be pleased to see me and those I have come to know as friends in my time away", he explains to her. "Although, if you would prefer to visit the park whilst I go, that is fine as well", he offers as an alternative. "I very much like for you to join me when I got to the Eastern ruins though, either way".
"Ah, morning Dev", he also greets the tiefling as he joins the table, smiling as he sees the stack of pancakes in front of Dev and the large portion he forks into his mouth.
He is a little clueless as to why Dev then hunkers down low, but when Lokilia calls out his keen mind deduces the circumstance. He chuckles a little at Dev, knowing he can't be seen with his back to Dev's new friend.
"I have to confess", he whispers to the tiefling, "No one has ever tried to hide behind me before. It is a good job I have a full head of hair".
As Dev shyly gestures to Balaran, he finally twists around to see who all the fuss is about.
Balaran smiles almost wistfully to himself then sweeps over after finishing his coffee, he is dressed similarly to the previous day though with a light blue woolen shawl draped about his shoulders.
" Good Morning, Everyone. I do apologize for not being able to make it last night but I had a prior engagement and one does not say no to Lady Vesper De Rolo."
" Now......Lokilia? Of course, Dev. And? Who are these two handsome fellows?"
Quinn will come into the room from the outside sweating. When he sees his friends and the food he smiles and moves over to grab a plate of food and park himself quietly as to not interrupt the teifling talking.
Lokilia smiles, seeming pleased that Balaran had remembered her name. "The esteemed gnome is Normont. And this genasi gentleman is Quinn," she says, motioning to each as she introduces them. "We certainly understand you had to keep your prior engagement. Do you have time to sit with us for a moment this morning? We would love your company." Her eyes linger on him as she waits to see what his answer will be.
Normont blushes slightly at the compliment but inclines his head to Balaran after being introduced, "Indeed one does not say no to any de Rolo, such is the honour of an invitation". As usual, his adoration of the de Rolo family is plain to see.
He looks across to Dev to see how his friend is handling the social interaction, and waiting for him to speak.

Meals were eaten, conversation was had, glasses were refilled.........Trina returned to clear plates, " Anything for dessert?"
"Do you have any dirt-based delicacies?"
