Dev is shocked at the disconnect between the gray-clad person’s calm demeanor and their outrageous words. He notes Normont’s restless movement toward his weapon, subtle as it is, and in answer, gently finds his own pan pipes on their new woven cord hanging from his neck. The tiefling’s eyes shout danger as they flick to Quinn and Lokilia then reattach to the stranger.
( Yes. Your all close enough. And yes the figure simply appeared there....though you suppose they may just have slipped in unnoticed if they are very skilled.)
Lokilia tenses up at the news that the ash-grey cloak belonged to someone else, and that person had been harmed in some way. She sees her friends react with caution as well. But she just can't understand this demand. "And just who are you that we should leave you to your affairs?" Even as she says it, she worries that maybe shouldn't have, as she'd planned on just letting Normont handle the situation.
Regardless, she feels herself ready to move at any moment, as though waiting to pounce. But she wonders then what that might mean for whoever it is that has been captured.
Normont's manner changes the instant he hears the cloak's real owner is in trouble. His eyes narrow and his demeanour hardens.
"Oh dear", he says as he wanders the few feet to stand next to the counter on which is perched his rifle. "That appears to be a threat, and I don't get on well with threats. Especially delivered by a stranger in my own workshop".
His eyes scan around for indications that this person is not alone, and also focusses on them looking for weaponry or signs of spell casting like a component pouch or focus of some sort.
Perception: 13+4=17
(OOC: DM - I didn't ask before as I assumed this person entered through the door, but did they actually just appear out of no-where? Is there any way to tell if they are alone? Be it through the door, window or noticing any sounds or indication of anyone invisible?)
Normonts keen eyes pick out a short crystal rod tucked into their belt and a large number of daggers and throwing blades secreted around their person, his height allows him to look up under the hood and he sees a tanned looking younger woman with a large number of nasty keloid scars across her face and neck.
His eyes scan the area, he can't see anything else but his ears can pick up vague movement on the roof of the workshop....though it could just be pigeons....

Dev gets the vaguest feeling that he has seen this person before, not their face but the way they move....were they outside Glinnicks? But he could have sworn that one had been a tall blond man...but the way they carry themselves.......could it be?

The head swings around towards Lokilia, " Me? Oh, I'm no one. Nameless and Friendless."
The figures head turns back towards Normont, " Simply agree. Then no one needs to get hurt any further."
Now within reach of his of his rifle, Normont considers the person before him. The array of throwing blades suggests they are comfortable in a fight although not at close quarters, and the crystal rod suggests some aptitude for magic; assuming it is some kind of arcane focus.
"I have a counter proposal. Assuming you are even telling the truth, how about you tell me where you are holding the owner of that cloak and then you and your associates get the hell out of my city! That includes the ones on the roof".
Insight: 8+2=10 (Is she telling the truth about having a Grey Hunter?)
Dev doesn’t like tricks. Especially tricks that threaten Normont in his own workshop. He blows a sour motif on his panpipes, interrupting the stranger’s speech, and cuts in with a sharpness to the usual eerie quality of his voice.
“Nameless and friendless is a really sad thing to be… Unless you’re a walking, talking illusion! What shadow needs friends? Yeah, I noticed you and your bedpost blondeness like a king’s golden Q-tip skulking around Glinnick’s. And here you are making threats so confidently behind your mask, as if your cowardice weren’t, like, obvious. Well, two can play at that game. Look familiar?”
The tiefling’s spell, which he had cast with that panpipe note, takes hold, and he now wears an illusion mimicking in exact detail the build, costume, and features of the gray-cloaked intruder. (Disguise Self)
Lokilia is also curious about whether this woman is telling the truth. (Insight: 11) Given the cloak she is wearing she is prone to believe her. When the woman turns to her, she tries to recall if she was among those she saw inside Glinnicks. Or even if she already was aware this was one that could change forms.
'Why does Normont keep trading words with her?' she wonders. She does appreciate his comment about others on the roof though. 'Even more reason this one won't back down. But how can she think our agreement will do anything to persuade the Grey Cloaks?' And then Dev jumps in with his music and magic. She grins as he takes on the form of the one before them. She isn't sure, but she's willing to wait to see what happens as long as the others do. She stays quiet to see how this person might respond.
(OOC - I presume Lokilia would have at least told Dev about her findings that there were at least some at Glinnicks that could change forms and appearance. Would she have had a chance to relay that to Normont and Quinn?)

Normont- finds it impossible to determine whether they are being truthful or not, and his order brings a slight chuckle, " No."

The chuckle came again, " Nice work....though I think your a fraction of an inch off with the height...."

Lokilia- is also unable to determine falsehoods or not, she does not recall seeing this person before.
When Dev calls out the intruder for their illusory disguise, Normont looks them up and down trying to see evidence that his friend is indeed correct.
Investigation: 18+5=23
There is definitely some sort of glamour over the person before him, he can almost see beneath the surface....but the underimage he glimpses doesn't resemble the description Dev gave....he gets the distinct impression of a broad frame and a bristling beard....
She speaks again, " Look, I've delivered my message. I'd rather things don't turn to violence but you can ask the folks of Emon, Westruun and Kymal how well standing against us goes. Allow us to conduct our business and we will depart in time."
" Oh, and if you kill me that will be taken as a rejection and the prisoner will die horribly. Just so we are clear."
"Let me be clear. I do not agree to anything, and I have no intention of killing you. As far as I know this is simply a strange prank. Turning up in a magical disguise thinking a grey cloak is evidence enough that you have done something worthy of killing over is at most a little pretentious", Normont says. "But you have made accusations and threats that the Pale Guard would be most interested in, I am sure".
At this point he picks up his rifle, but does not immediately aim it at the intruder.
"Maggie, see that this illusory lady with the undertone of bristling beard does not leave", he says. At his command, Maggie obediently moves to cut off the intruder from the exit.
Dev makes note of the critique, and also the blithe bluff. If we kill him?, said with the same blasé delivery.
”So, was this the day you were like, ‘I’m waking up free but I guess I’ll make threats, get myself arrested, then watch the sun set through a little peephole in my jail cell?’,” Dev asks, employing an illusion that sounds like the intruder’s voice rather than his own vocal cords. “You care so little about your own life that you come here ready to use it as, like, a bargaining chip?”

The young woman? throws Dev a withering glance and eye roll, " Toodles."
(Dev can't roll higher than 20 for Initiative. Quinn, very familiar with Dev's flat on his feet-ness might not be surprised that the teen tiefling is still in the starting block blinking in surprise when the stranger has already run the race...)
