A campaign with heavy RP expected and possibly more puzzles, mystery, and social encounters than combat. There will be combat but my suggestion is not to submit a PC with sole purpose of combat.
Aaahh!!! Real Monsters...
This will be a game focused on famous monster hunters who are hiring an existing party to add to their ranks as like a franchising opportunity! Your PCs (you will be an already assembled party of adventurers) are joining the ranks of this group with a reputation for being a force to reckon with think Ghostbusters meets Supernatural! A mix of camp and horror....
Your PCs (from an existing party) will be earning your place working in the rural areas of a homebrewed continent of Talamh. Your PCs franchise is hoping to move into one of the major cities to earn more coin and gain fame.
So, just in time for Halloween, you want to catch some monsters?!
Highlights:
Party of 4 players
Starring level 3
All classes accepted
All species within the 'non-monsterous' vibes. Think classic DnD species.
Backstory a must but be flexible! You'll be in an existing group so make room for discussion.
Experience is key; won't be newbie friendly.
Adults only. I'm an adult speaking to other adults.
We will discuss hard limits and gray areas.
I homebrew most monsters stats and DCs. I do play RAW but I am willingly to focus on narrative and rule of cool.
This sounds like a fun experience, I would be keen to participate.
My timezone is UTC+8, so I understand if that is an obstacle that rules me out.
I am flexible on class, I do prefer playing the more martial characters so Fighter/Ranger/Barbarian would be my likely go to. Rune Knight would be my first choice with a bounty hunter background, leaning into the more utility Runes (cloud for deception/sleight of hand, fire for tool proficiency doubling).
You had me at "Aaahh!!!" So ready to dive headfirst into spooky season!
For classes, I'd be thinking a monster slayer ranger (who would likely idolize the famous monster hunters), a monstro/cryptozoolgist nerd Order of Scribes wizard (who would be voted most likely to stick their head inside a gaping toothy maw to study its anatomy), or a long-suffering phantom rogue who is really tired of being followed around by bossy, judgmental ghosts. But am always happy to fill in whatever gaps are left in a party!
I’ve had an idea for a gnome called Gygax who is chronicling monsters into a manual of sorts. Capturing the details of each monster, a picture, and the comparable abilities of each. He’s already written a treatise on deities and demigods that has had some success and might follow up his manual on monsters with a folio about fiends.

I'd love to join! I'd either play a creepy shadow sorcerer or a if I'm allowed a bit of flavor a 1/2 fairy 1/2 air genasi(uses the genasi stats) star druid.
Ok. Seems as if there's enough interest. How about people start submitting their PC concepts. They'll be a plenty long intro process with an additional session 0 to make sure the party I select will work well together! Let's GGGGOOOO!
Party of 4 players within reasonable distance of EST timezone.
Starring level 3
Standard array or point buy.
All classes accepted; *I own some content to share but not all. If you can't put it on your sheet on here then I'm less inclined to allow it.*
All species within the 'non-monsterous' vibes. Think classic DnD species cuz monsters fighting monsters is kinda a mind f*.
Backstory a must but be flexible! *You'll be in an existing group so make room for discussion. Think starting adventurer needing coin and trying to make a name. Got an older PC in mind? Think skilled crafts person who's decided on a career change. Key here is *you are not seasoned at this gig you're just starting out as hunters BUT have found a group of adventurers that serves whatever purpose or reason you turned to hunting!*
Experience is key; won't be newbie friendly.
Adults only. I'm an adult speaking to other adults.
Please post with your PC your player hard limits, gray areas, open. If you don't feel comfortable just PM me!
Example:
My hard limits are NO RPing of sexual violence or content. ZERO tolerance for religious zealots. ZERO tolerance of violence against children. ZERO tolerance of homophobia or transphobia. Your DM is a nonbinary queer person.
Gray areas (I don't like it but it's not a deal breaker) animal harm, mental health issues it's tricky but done right it can be compiling, gore, and relationship stuff I'll just faded to black. Please romance an NPC or one of your fellow PCs but I won't be explicit here.
Open: physical harm, bugs, blood, vermin, demons, religious strife, and/or political issues.
At the young age of seven, Constance was attacked by a (insert terrifying monster native to Talamh) and subsequently saved by a monster hunter. Rather than be traumatized or have nightmares about the creature, she instead became fascinated by its unique traits and monstrous biology. After the fateful incident, her obsession with monstrozoology began and her noble family were, to put it lightly, less than impressed by her ignoble and unladylike pursuits. Feeling a calling to study the more unsavory creatures of the world, she left her silver spoon and platter behind to seek an adventurer/adventuring group to tag along with (with plenty of gold to offer in return), intending to one day compile her field notes into scholarly essays and a publishable Drake's Monster Compendium & Bestiary (and accidentally becomes quite the adventurer herself along the way).
Ditzy, a hyper-fixater, and posh, but brave, passionate, and kind, she can become very detached and clinical when it comes to killing and dissecting monsters and isn't afraid to get her hands dirty. (As a comparison, think Jane from Tarzan meets Evelyn from The Mummy)
Hard limits: Absolutely in agreement with all of your hard limits. Gray areas: Yours as well! In addition to racism, which I know can be difficult when it's baked into a lot of the D&D races and lore. Open: Everything else!
Rammand was born to a family who owned a successful tavern. The boy wasn’t much of a people person, instead preferring puzzles and tinkering. He would make a small amount of money fixing equipment for travelers and making repairs at the tavern. One day, a wealthy elf noticed Rammand tinkering away and was impressed by his work. He told Rammand to create something special and contact him when he was done. Over the next couple of decades, Rammand created a companion of sorts. The construct functioned as a guardian and laborer, able to be modified for the owner’s needs. Rammand contacted the elf, who was overjoyed at the construct. He tasked Rammand with traveling out into the world, to test and perfect the construct as he wanted to purchase and gift it to his lord. Out in the world, Rammand figured there is no better way to test his creation than hunting monsters.
Limits/Grey/Open: I’m on board with your example and I don’t really have anything to add.
Super interesting submissions so far! There will be 1 'franchise manger' of sorts that will come to the town your party assembles together to explain the ropes!
The game will start in Carrowkeel. A landlocked farming community between the larger cities of Feirm and Sul Na Mara. The party can be from anywhere in Talamh. Message me for lore if you want to beef up your backstory!

Sometimes a Nat 1 tells a better story than a Nat 20 ever could.
Name:Fredrik Jansen Race: Human Class: Fighter (Battlemaster Brawler) Backstory: He has been occasionally employed as an Explorer/Cartographer, but more often of late before joining up as a bouncer. Fred's personality and drive to explore can't be easily contained by polite society, as has become clear to him throughout his life. After bouncing around in various careers, that often ended in his dismissal, he found at least occasional employment working for a cartography company, mapping new places and areas, and he found he had a knack for recalling the layout of terrain and being able to sketch it and communicate it to the stuffy folks who never left the guildhall. His travels on behalf of the company took him all over, providing the first glimpse many might have of distant lands. It helped that he could hold is own on the rough frontiers of exploration, the same hands that could hold a pen and deftly mark the boundaries of coast, river and mountain could also set aside those more delicate pursuits and bloody a nose or box an ear as needed. He'd perhaps come to the attention of other members of the company after handling some rowdy drunks or troublemakers, or while following up on something that went down that turned out to be a bit beyond the everyday issues and pushing into the supernatural.
Appearance:
Limits/etc.: All perfectly reasonable and in line with my own preferences for forum games.
((RP wise, he's decent at investigating and somewhat less so at insight, but wouldn't be too well suited to social tasks. With regard to combat, he's a grappler/brawler, which depending on what monsters he ends up facing could be interesting (or entirely unhelpful).))

I would be interested in this. Possibly as a Knowledge Cleric or Inquisitive Rogue, depending on need if chosen.

Interested in a twighlight cleric or a "Van Helsing" type monster slayer.
