Mal quietly places a hand on Tye's arm and whispers, "As much fun as that would be, let's wait a moment and see what happens. Currently our best course is to gather as much information as we can and see just how deep this infection goes before we cut it out of the body, so to speak. They seem to be in starting some form of ritual, let's see what transpires and then we can go from there. Currently there is only the five of them, but there might be more."
The students continue to light candles, one who appears to be directing and giving orders, pulls out a black covered book. Once it appears that everything is ready, the other four stand off to the side.
"Go get Lena," the leader commands, and two of the students go around a corner you couldn't see. You hear the sound of a key turning a lock, and the creek of a door opening. Then there is a sound of scuffling, and the two drag a bound girl whose mouth is gagged. You still can hear her whimpers. They force her to her knees in the middle of the circle that is surrounded by candles, and has script written in chalk.
The leader approaches the girl. "You made a big mistake turning me down," he said with a growl, "No matter, sweet revenge will just be that much better."
He motions with his head one of the students to come over, who holds the open book before the leader. The leader draws a dagger from under his ropes, raises it up in two hands, and begins to mumble a prayer but you can't hear the words. He opens his eyes, takes the dagger and slices his finger so it can bleed. He begins to paint designs on the girl's forehead in blood, while looking at the pages of the book, and begin to speak what sounds like a ritual.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
"That's enough waiting,"Tyekanik growls to Mal. He then steps forward axe in hand. As he walks the grip on his axe whitens as he Rages, growing in size to fill the room in which he stands. His, already deep and loud voice booms even deeper as he steps on a chair, crushing it under his foot, as he calls out, "This. Stops. Now!"
intimidation, hoping to use str for the roll as the DMG says is sometimes possible. Two rolls incase I have adv/dis: 26 ; 19 note for size: I can grow to size 'huge', so that would be maybe double his normal size up to like 16-17' tall. Not sure exactly how tall this place is though, so if not that big he'll just grow to big enough to fill the room.
Just for fun Disarming Attack to knock dagger out of his hands (if 1st attack hits): 5 Additional Damage plus will need to make a STR 19 DC or dagger goes flying.
[OOC: If leader is dead, I will target one of the cultists holding Lena]
2nd Attack Sharpshooter H-Xbow: To hit (nat 20) 35-5= 30 (Sharpshooter) 22 Piercing Damage + 15 Necrotic + 10 Sharpshooter - Total Damage: 47 Damage
Will add a Pushing Attack: 2 additional damage plus will need to make a STR DC 19 save or be pushed back 15 feet.
Mal will then run out into the light after Tye and when he is done attacking will shout out to anyone that is remaining, "Drop to the ground or die." As she casually knocks another bolt into her croxxbow.

The yell startles the students who freeze in place. The leader only has enough time to yell "No!" before the bolt feathers him between the eyes, the second taking the student holding the hostage. The other three look quickly at their fallen comrades, then at you and quickly throw their hands up.
"Don't shoot, don't shoot! Its not our fault, he made us do it!" they chorused, pointing at the dead leader.
After bundling the professor and covering him with a tarp to make it look like a pack horse, Sparhawk leads you back to the Inn. Motioning for two of the stable hands to retrieve the unconscious professor, Sparhawk heads into the Inn, and quickly returns with a key. "With me lads," and the stable hands carry the professor as Sparhawk leads to an outside door, that he unlocks, revealing a stairs down. Sparhawk leads down into the basement that actually goes twice as deep as the Inn would usually have.
"The floor above is for supplies and basic running of the Inn, down here is where our operations are planned. Then if we get lucky and have a prisoner, we can bring them here for interrogation."
Sparhawk opens a second door, and enter a torch-lit area that has some desks, chairs and maps posted to the walls. On one side are three very stout doors that Sparhawk opens, and the stable hands dump the professor inside. After they leave, Sparhawk closes the door. He then makes hand gestures and traces an outline with his finger on a design on the outside of the door, speaking in a different language. You feel a static charge of energy rise up around the door.
"No we just have to wait until he wakes up, then William will come down and have a chat with him."
Tyekanik takes a long step forward towards the student with the hostage. Simply holding his hand out to her gripping his axe in the other he makes it clear that she should be released, but he makes no attack. Assuming she is freed, he says calmly,“Go to your home. You are safe now.”Once she is out of the door he calms down and shrinks back to his normal height of over 8 feet tall, and still looking down to the students growls, “He may have started it, but you joined! What were you doing?! Where did you learn this?”
“What did you do at the door, Sparhawk?” inquires Khessa, who has been trying to pay close attention to his gestures and words - just in case it's some new spell or magical ritual she can learn. "A protection against espionage attempts?"
Then she, while waiting, as Master Akkron had advised to do, ritual-casts Identify on the prisoner, to find out if there are active spells on him and which ones. Given her previous experiences with Azash, even if she thinks that this time the magical investigation should be safe, she is ready to interrupt her concentration at the first sign of 'interference' from that so really meddling god.
Mal stops the young lady before she can leave, "Yes you are safe now, but I need your full name and where you live. The ones that are still alive, for now, will be brought to justice and the Pandion's might need to ask you questions. I also might have further questions for you as well once these filth are done being questioned."
Once the lady answers, Mall will help her to the stairs during which Mal will try and tear off a piece of her clothing in case we need to track her down later.
Sleight of Hand: 23
Then Mal will turn to the prisoners and with a look that will approach no debate, she speaks, "Kneel and let my friend here tie your hand and arms behind your back. I promise, if you do not resist you will live to plead your case to a judge. If not, you will join your dead fellows in an instant and to be honest I do hope you resist as it is more trouble for me to deal with handing you over. And I must know, is there anyone else down here or do you expect anyone else to arrive?"
With that Mal, will help Tye bound the prisoners arms and legs to make sure they can not run. Once done she will move to search the two dead cultists for anything of importance.
Perception: 20
While she is doing all this she will start discussing with Tye on what they should do next, "So depending on if they are lying about anyone else down here or coming, should we leave now with them and turn them in to the Pandion order and come back to search this place with the others, or do we leave them bound and gagged and then search this place. At least the adjoining rooms with one of us staying in here to keep an eye on them. What do you think?"
"Its a ward that surrounds the room, so no magic can be channeled into or out of it. If he has powers, he is now harmless and I want to keep him that way." Sparhawk explains.
You will have to wait until the prisoner is brought out, your spell will not penetrate the room.

As you are working on the prisoner, a column of black smoke begins to swirl up from the dead leader, and starts to consolidate into a figure
Khessa can't hold back a delighted sigh at discovering such a powerful method of defense against magic! So, waiting for it to be possible to question the professor, she takes her spellbook with the spiderweb-like decorated cover out of her backpack and takes note of how Sparhawk managed to set this ward (asking him for explanations too, if needed... since, like her, he doesn't have much else to do!)
'Tyekanik and Mal are really having fun teaching those guys a lesson!' she idly thinks in the meantime, not imagining the two powerful heroes be possibly put in danger by a group of students 'They still have to rejoin us...'

As you are working on the prisoner, a column of black smoke begins to swirl up from the dead leader, and starts to consolidate into a figure
The girl makes a break for it, and runs up the stairs, the other three students shrink back in fear as the smoke materializes into a large demon, who has two claw-like arms, and 2 normal arms. It reaches down with the two normal hands, picking up the dead leader in one, and the dead student in another. Black smoke begins to encircle the dead forms, until they disappear. You can hear a faint scream of two male voices disappear. Then the demon turns and looks at the three now terrified students, mostly ignoring you two for the moment.

As you are waiting for the professor to wake, you heart a faint sound of pipes playing, like Shepard's pipes. Sparhawk freezes, like he is listening to something, or someone. "Oh bloody Hell, there is a demon in the city and not too far away!" Sparhawk turns and drops his cloak, allowing his sword to move freely as he begins to run up the stairs.
"How far is... oh, never mind, already gone. I guess we'll just follow him,"Akkron says, his bones clattering as he follows after the Paladin as quickly as his ancient body will allow. "Don't worry, Professor, we'll continue this conversation later..."

Unhappy that the market got rid of individual purchases for one-off subclasses, magic items, and monsters?
Mal takes a step back, "That thing was entirely not what I was expecting," she sighs, "well we can't have that thing running around the city. And as much as I don't really care what happens to those students, I think they are just stupid idiots and no not what they were doing and the fate that is in front of them, is not what they should get. Now you can have your fun Tye, kill that thing." She then swears some more and brings her crossbow up and starts pumping bolts into the things back.
With each load and thunk of her bolt into the things back she continues to talk, "And remind me when we get out of here," looking at the demon in front of her again, "well if we get out of here, to talk to our bony friend about getting some magical device so that we can talk over large distances for emergencies such as this."

With the furious assault on the demon, the combined hits and the magical effects of the weapons caused serious injuries to the demon, that it falls to the floor dead. The three students are now scared beyond belief, wetting themselves and now sit mumbling to themselves.
