"I would happily guide the necromancer into the light," Clarac says. "Guide them to disavow the gods of chaos, I mean." Out of respect for Lord Akkron, Clarac does not bring up her strong opinions about necromancers and their so-called immortality of lichdom.
In the ancient tomb, Clarac approached the deformed mummy and recites a prayer for the deceased to rest in peace.
OOC:
Intelligence (Religion) check, if needed --> 11
You are shocked and horrified at the desecration of the mummy, of the corruption and deformity it has. It is not like something you have seen before with normal undead, something completely different.
Khessa consults with the dwarves, looking at them with pity and compassion from deep within her blue eyes: "Perhaps it is best that the magical fire consume these desecrated remains? I fear that the Nefarious Duo plans to transform Lord Grimnyr into a degenerate undead... Burning the body and honoring his memory would perhaps be more charitable than allowing him to exist in this state... What do you think?"
The two look at one another and nod in agreement. Then the other dwarf kneels before you. "My eyes are open now, I see we have been deceived. I will go forward and tell the people what I have seen and that we are pawns once more. We must cast off this yoke. We must do what Lord Grimnyr did free us from the darkness." He stands, nods to you all, and leaves. Your guide nods in return.
Khessa then approaches the disfigured remains with solemnity and determination: "Lord Grimnyr... the forces of evil have wronged your body, but have failed to harm your spirit—which now guides your people along the path you yourself have shown. Rejoice, from your eternal home, as we erase this forsaken form that is no longer yours and then proceed to punish the guilty as they deserve."
The blonde arcane warrior then lets magical fire blaze in her hands, as many times as necessary, each time fanning the flames that consume the wretched form like a magical pyre.
Once done, the tall adventuress is ready to move on, more determined than ever to put an end to the Nefarious Duo's misdeeds here too.
You open the door to the east, and see it's a long hallway, poorly lit. After 25 feet, you go down a set of stairs, then again, another 15 feet down. What little illumination, no more than some candles on wall mounts, end and the hallway turn due south. You see flickers of light coming from that direction, like a fire or brighter torches.
Khessa looks at Vrox and Tyekanik and smiles, gesturing to them about the new light... just in case the team's two regular scouts feel like sneaking over to see how the situation looks like...
Clarac also stands by until the scouts give the all-clear to proceed, remaining in a place where the whole group can be within her auras. If the scouts are not scouting ahead, Clarac will enter the hallway.
The scouts do not seem too eager to go ahead, so Khessa sends Anator. A common bat should not arouse suspicion... The blonde arcane warrior focuses on her brother's senses and scouts the new room using them.
As Antor flies in, he observes a room, the only light coming from two braziers on the west side of the room. In the main part of the room are pillars carved from stone, and the remains of tables and benches can be seen strewn about them. At the western end is a raised area where the braziers are. You see at least three more raised undead warriors (2 ashens) plus a different one in more ornate older armor (the wight). There is a large Hag and a demon in a discussion around what appears to be an old cook stove. There is a statue in an alcove of a Dwarven cook.
Khessa explains to the rest of the party what she saw and suggests: "They don't know we're here... let's burst into the room and strike them before they even realize what happened."
After that, as soon as everyone is ready, the blonde arcane warrior, followed by her faithful Alfred, runs, with Wave of Sorrow already overhead in attack position, to the corner, to strike the outer Ashen Rider while also leaving room for her teammates to position themselves.
"I agree with your plan, Khessa. We will catch them unaware and put an end to their evildoing," Clarac says. She stands behind Khessa, ready to charge into the room when the time comes.
Khessa storms the unsuspecting Ashen Rider; Wave of Sorrow slashes mercilessly from above, then from below, and finally horizontally, at neck height...
It looks like the lich himself probably cannot get around the wall without using Misty Step to double his movement via bonus action. So... if that's necessary, he'll do it to get into the room and shoot off a ray of frost at the second Ashen Rider. (If we're assuming that we all entered whatever position we wanted, then I'll be happy to not spend that Misty Step spell slot)
Ray of Frost vs. Ashen Rider Attack: 28 Damage: 12 cold

What are you going to do next?
From where you are, there is the passageway to the west, and the door to the east.
Let's try the door to the east!

There is enough shadow thrown by the light for the scouts to enter the room
The scouts do not seem too eager to go ahead, so Khessa sends Anator. A common bat should not arouse suspicion... The blonde arcane warrior focuses on her brother's senses and scouts the new room using them.

[[ OOC: So... Time to roll for initiative? Or we strike first? Or...? ]]
No, you can do a surprise attack that will give you all an advantage roll
Khessa storms the unsuspecting Ashen Rider; Wave of Sorrow slashes mercilessly from above, then from below, and finally horizontally, at neck height...
Khessa's Multiattack with Wave of Sorrow (advantage):
1st Attack: 34 Damage: 24 (magical slashing) + 13 (acid) = 37
2nd Attack: 38 Damage: 29 (magical slashing) + 19 (acid) = 48
3rd Attack: 37 Damage: 27 (magical slashing) + 16 (acid) = 43
Lord Akkron sends his beholderkin ahead to fire two bolts at the second Ashen Rider
Beholderkin vs. Ashen Rider
Attack: 36 Damage: 15 psychic
Attack: 29 Damage: 13 psychic
It looks like the lich himself probably cannot get around the wall without using Misty Step to double his movement via bonus action. So... if that's necessary, he'll do it to get into the room and shoot off a ray of frost at the second Ashen Rider. Unhappy that the market got rid of individual purchases for one-off subclasses, magic items, and monsters?
Provide feedback!
All three attacks slice into the warrior, wounding it badly
