"Ahh," the old elf breathes a sigh of relief, "Sonny, you really need to watch out. I nearly had a heart attack! In truth, these coins are hard to determine the value of. They seem unique, but they could have been made by hand or magic... They seem to weigh as much as a gold coin, so honestly it is fair at least that far." "Bloody knife-ears and their hoity-toity dancing lines they call writing..." He is obviously angry about it, but chooses not to take out his anger on the poor feline woman. Luthok grabs the book about the plague and shows it to the librarian. "This here is what i'm looking for. At least similar books. Would be pleased if you could bring it to me over there." He hints to a nearby table where he walks over to and starts flipping through the book. He says to Muireach while walking. "This plague ravaged the land about a 100 years ago. Interesting stuff, considering everything." He puts on a couple of cracked, rectangular reading glasses already missing one of the arms so they hang askew on his face. Opening the first page he starts reading more thoroughly.

The cat librarian directs Muireach to books on planes. There really aren't very many on the shelf, it would seem. You have a few options:
Manual of the Planes (3rd Edition, Circa 1028) Essential Summonings Conjuration and you A Guide to the Ethereal Domestic Defense Against Interplanar Creatures Chaotic vs. Lawful Planes: A Treatise for the Center Path
"Oh sure, sir," the librarian nods to Luthok and hands him about three more books. "Now if you will excuse me..." She seems to scurry off before any of you can ask for more help. The other titles all seem to cover that same plague, though it seems they mention it more as a footnote. The most information is located in the book Luthok has pulled out.
The Great Plague of 1150
This book is written very dryly and is quite matter of fact in its presentation of information. Most of this you already know, but in summary, you read:
No one understands the origin of this plague, but many blame Mico Volz, the black dracolich, that used to terrorize the region in general. Many clerics believed that the dracolich was sent by Oreus, the human god of death, to bolster his number in the underworld. Druid circles had other thoughts, but these were largely undocumented as druids did not regularly record their medical findings like clerics did.
Hundreds died over the course of 50 years. Many who had the plague were treated like lepers by the commonfolk. People traveled to the, at the time, smaller church of Arcturus to be healed. The clerics of Arcturus could only prolong their suffering.
Finally, clerics of the nature deity and druids came together and found a cure together. Divine and Arcane healing could not undo the plague, but a natural combination of flora and fungi could.
As Luthok reads, Vivi seems to find a book of her own nearby and reads it quietly at Luthok's table.

Luthok looks over his spectacles at Vivi. "Think you might've had the plague lass, all those years ago. Nothing special about that really, a lot of people had it." He keeps on reading for a few more minutes and puts the books aside. "Since we're here we might as well read up on some necromancy. The books might be outdated, but this is a 100 years we are talking about so they might be better. You're free to follow or stay, i'll be back in a few."
He looks for a librarian to show him where he could find some books on necromancy, with mentions the process of prolonging a lifespan or even without them. The mushrooms slowly tearing down his body seem to have some necromantic elements to them after all.
