Rubina gives Guardoka laugh. "It's fine! But I am buying the next! You deserve it!" She considers his other question. "Nobody has sent me here for any specific purpose," she says. "I intend to work on becoming a great performer. But I'm most interested in words. Using words to make the world a better place. I've not really decided what discipline I might be most interested in - Silvertongue, Warsinger, or Lumimancer. But I've got to time to decide."
Meitakes a look at those gathered. It would seem that more than not are around the same age as her or a bit older. But there are some that might be closer to her parents' age. None are much older than that though - it's a fairly young group overall. Based on attire, you would guess most are tradespeople, though a couple might be higher class. The man that appears to be a priest would be the oldest present, at least from appearances.
Once the priest steps away, Kira quietly responds to Mei. "Yea, the lantern is sort of... hmm... a source for Disyn. Hopefully you will see."
Soon though the priest moves to the center of the clearing, standing near the lantern. In a loud voice he calls out. "We are ready to begin! Please gather around!"
Malvynlistens but as most of an hour passes there is still no indication of Mei'sreturn that he hears. Presumably Maehas headed for sleep. (And perhaps Knap as well.)
Mei swallows as the air thickens with collective anticipation. Her eyes flick briefly to the path out of the clearing even as curiosity pulls her closer to the center. These are her years of yes--of try anything once--she reminds herself, though she wishes the others were here. But surely there was a reason why the threads lead her to the market tonight instead of the ballet.
Guardok's eyes widen, "Silvetongue, Warsinger and Lumimancer? Silverquill disciplines sound so cool. I wonder what Prismari disciplines are called. I really should do more research, it just feels like tempting fate if I look beyond the first year".
He looks to Quentillius, "Do you know what Prismari disciplines are called? A lot of it is about the elements right? So I should have a bit of insight into that at least".

Realizing it is most likely futile, the purple-skinned tiefling still quietly gets up to get dressed to go to the market to look for the dreamer. He is quite unable to sleep anyway and a nightly walk might just be what he needs. Once outside he would make his way to the market to have a look around.
As Meiwatches, everyone seems to gather about the lantern. Kira nudges her forward as well. They keep a bit of distance still - more in the dim light rather than directly in the bright. The man who seems to be the priest begins a soft song. Others start to join in, evidently knowing the words and the tune. It is a slow, solemn sounding music, the words speaking of light and darkness and the balance of the two.
It's hard for Meito exactly follow all of it, as she doesn't know what to expect. But it seems to move into a call for Disyn to join them. And calls for her to bless them. There is mention of her shadowy form - a faint light in the night but faint shadow in the day. And then it seems to the tell the tale of the goddess' creation. Her mother was a primordial goddess, born of Chaos itself. There is brief mention of other gods and goddesses, apparent brothers and sisters to Disyn. It's unclear who her father was, though he seems to be associated with Arcavios itself. But in any case, Disyn came to goddess of both light and darkness - day and night - and the balance between them. Brothers were described as holding domain over things like Sleep and Dreams, while sisters oversaw the realms of Day and Night specifically.
The singing comes to an end. The priest steps forward to tell a story about Disyn. How she appeared to a small group of travelers who had been lost in the mountains at night. Unfamiliar with the land and unable to cope with the darkness, the trio was near dispair. But Disyn appeared to them and offered them hope. She helped them see despite the darkness. The group traveled all night and the following day, before they returned to a small town. Thereafter they became worshippers of Disyn, and spread word of her miracle.
As the story progresses, Meiis distracted. Out of the corner of her eye the shadows themselves seem to shift. Did they move? She isn't sure. But the pattern of light and shadows from the lantern seem not quite right.
Malvynreaches the Market, and it is even quieter than when Mei had been there early. Most vendors are gone, any stalls closed up for the night. Faint wisps of smoke from a fire or even the glow of the dying coals of a fire might be seen. But only a small handful of folks are left tending the fires. And even those are only glimpsed at as they seem to be in more cordoned off portions of the market.
There is one vendor still selling what seems to be grilled meat of some sort. There are perhaps 5 or 6 folks crowded around, many with drinks or smoking something in pipes. It's not much, but they seem to be some of the few still awake at this hour. As you walk near, you notice a small tent marked with a sign offering a glimpse into their fortune. The place is obviously closed up and nothing is going on there at the moment. But it does make you think of Mei. And it isn't far from where the group is gathered.
Quentillius immediately responds to Guardok'sremark about tempting fate to look beyond the first year. "Nonsense! If you're going to get anywhere you have to think about what comes next and start planning!" Rubina seems to roll her eyes a bit at the abruptness of the comments, and she jumps in. "Clearly you have thought about a College, Guardok. I presume you are interested in Prismari? Or were you just curious about the specialties?"
Quentillius looks at Rubina a moment, then nods. "Fine, perhaps having a specialty chosen at this moment is not necessary. But it's good to be thinking about it. I mean, I have not chosen one for certain yet, but I do know a bit about some. I'm leaning a bit towards being an Aesthemancer. Though Opusmancer perhaps is intriguing. Those are both in the realm of the Perfection side of the college. Prismari's other side is Expression - Flamesingers, Zephyrists, and Heartragers for example."

Seeing the small tent marked with a sign offering a glimpse into their fortune, the purple-skinned tiefling walks closer, and with a brief moment of hesitance he peeks inside.
Mei is riveted by the song and the story. There was something so familiar about the ritual of it all--of the oral tradition and lore--and her heart ached with a quiet homesickness.
As the shadows in her periphery shift, the hairs on the back of her neck stand on end. She glances back at her own shadow to see if anything seems amiss before studying the source of lantern's light. Could it be the influence of a spell? An illusion? Or perhaps Disyn has, indeed, joined them?
((Arcana to tell if a spell might be involved? 17))
Guardok looks thoughtful for a moment before replying, "Prismari, yes for certain. I want to be a sword dancer, at least that was my intention. But if there are other choices I can make as well...", he says considering.
"I like the sound of Expression more than Perfection. Perhaps there is something that synergises with the earth, like I do. Is there a college pamphlet or something where. can read about these things and what they mean?".
As Malvynpeeks inside the tent, one of the men at the vendor with a drink in his hand shouts out. "Hey! What you think you're doing there! The fortune teller's closed! You best clear off! Come back tomorrow if you're interested." He starts to move towards Malvyn, a couple others behind.
Meican think of a number of ways what she is seeing could be magic. Certainly, it might be an illusion. Some aspect of Prestidigitation maybe. But she sees no obvious caster nor any clear-cut sign one way or another.
The priest continues to speak, "For all of those who have sworn to follow Disyn, we will now repeat our oath." As he continues, the other repeat along with him. "I thank you our Lady of Darkness and Light for the gifts you have bestowed. We ask that you continue to grant us vision in both day and night, and sustain us to both serve you and to sustain our own works." There is a pause then all conclude. "In Darkness and Light."
There is then a few notes of music from a flute, drums, and violin. You don't quite see who is playing, but other start to sing a bit. Kira takes her hand, speaking in a lowered voice. "We dance and sing, to celebrate our goddess. Join us! It's a simple dance. And if you get it wrong... well, that's fine too." She has a smile on her face as she tries to urge you to join her and the others.
"I do find a strong sympathy for the Perfection side of Prismari," Quentillius begins telling Guardok. "But Expression is dear to my heart as well. There is indeed a Geosculptor field. I don't think you're required to choose a specialty necessarily. And once in your College you will have to study both of the aspect." He pauses, "I'm not sure if there are brochures. You can speak to older students in those colleges though. Or approach a Prismari Professor to ask."
Mei's head lolls to one side as she contemplates the phrasing of the oath, vision in both day and night. Visions like her own or literal sight? The story from earlier seemed to suggest literal sight in the darkness.
Realizing they're concluding, she stammers in a late echo, repeating too loudly, "I-In Darkness and Light!"
As the sound of music fills the clearing, her expression lights. This is familiar too, dancing in celebration and ritual. "Will you teach me the steps?" she asks and grips Kira's hand back. "I'm not the, um, best dancer, but what I lack in coordination I think I make up for in... e-enthusiasm!" she laughs, trying to closely follow whatever Kira does.

"I'm so sorry, I will leave immediately, it's just that I'm looking for my friend, I think she might be lost in your fine city." The purple-skinned tiefling says to the approaching men in an apologetic tone, and if they listen he describes the petite oracle to them, hoping they would have seen her.
"Mei, you're doing... umm... the steps are more like this," Kira suggests as her dancing efforts go awry again. There's a smile on her face, but she isn't laughing. But one more enthusiastic attempt does start to bring a laugh to the woman's lips. "Well, ok, you certainly seem to be having fun at this!" She throws up her hands, seeming to give up on trying to show Meithe dance and just lets her do her own thing.
There may be one or two that give Mei an odd look, but most grin or even chuckle a bit. They see she's enjoying herself at least.
The time passes, and the music comes to an end. The priest steps forward again to address the group. "Now the time has come to invite our newcomers to receive blessing from our generous benefactor Disyn. She asks nothing of you, other than to willingly step forward to meet her. Who will take the first step to get to know her more?" He motions with his hand, indicating for any to approach where he stands near the lantern. "You of course do not have to. Guides, please help escort those who wish to proceed."
Kira gives Meia questioning look. "Do you want to? The first step is just a blessing. A chance for Disyn to touch you and bestow some of her gifts."
"Well, she ain't in there!" the first man says. But another replies after Malvyndescribes his oracle friend. "Ah, saw her earlier. Sure. Umm, I think Kira got hold of her. She's always out recruiting for that group of hers." After a bit more conversation, he reveals that the group meets now and then at a spot not far from the market. Kind of a bit of seclusion hidden away amongst the city. Malvynthinks he could probably find the spot.
As if on cue, the waitress returns with the drinks. Quentillius heartily agrees with Guardok. "Yes, I'm sure you'll have many friends in Prismari." Rubina adds in, "And I hope you will have friends outside of Prismari as well!" She raises a glass in salute. "Now enough of school. Tell us a bit about your gymnastics exploits!"
Mei, breathless from her wayward dance moves, looks from Kira to the lantern. She's been touched by the fey, but... divinity? That was something else entirely.
Unconsciously, she flips open her card holster and pulls the first card. Looking down at what she's drawn, a hoping for guidance, she laughs out at what greets her: the Four of Swords. The purple-skinned tiefling considers trying to get more information about the group Mei has joined but is concerned about what is happining at their gathering. He knows the oracle might be angry with him for seeking her out so he decides to just find out what is going on and make sure that she is safe. He quickly thanks the man for helping him and hurries through the dark alleys to the place of the gathering and if he finds the place he would take a discreet peek, hoping to spot Mei.

It almost appears that the priest is casting a spell of some sort. Though it is not exactly anything she recognizes.
With the words though there seems to be a shift in the shadows about the lantern. Similar to before, and Meihas a hard time placing anything that has actually moved. It's more like an intuition that something has shifted. There's a sense of something moving first to Lefra, then to Pargal. And you notice a slight change in their facial features as it does - a small smile, and they seem less weary than they had the moment before.
It then shifts towards Mei...
Malvyndoes find his way, coming to a place that is more enclosed by trees and plant life than he would have expected in the midst of this city. There seems to be a small clearing in the distance and a dim light there. Faint voices come to you as well. As you make your way closer, you glimpse a small group of people gathered. In the center is set a lantern - the source of the light. An older man, in appearance dressed like a priest, is standing near that lantern, a group of about 5 others around him. It's hard to make out at first as the light is rather dim and seems to be flickering. But you do spot the purple-haired dreamer standing amongst the group at the center. The priest is making a motion of some sort. You note the similarity to casting a spell, but to your mind that isn't really what he is doing.

Malvyn tries to sneak closer, counting on the gathering being focused on their priest, hoping to come close enough to hear what is said. He tries to make sense of what he sees. Had Mei simply gone and joined some weird cult? She seemed to be here by her own free will, but he would make sure it stayed that way.

Mei’s eyes widen and breath catches in her lungs, trapped there by anticipation as the presence shifts her way. She opens her heart and mind to whatever she’s about to receive.
