Malvyn has indeed followed close behind Guardok and nods as his friends whisper, trying to remain calm and recalling the eldritch magic he knew to defend himself. He goes down on one knee and takes a closer look at the bodies, trying to determine if they are in fact dead, and if so, how they died. He also looks around for anything on them that could tell him who they are and where they came from, although the first impression is that they were bandits or something.
Both Guardok and Malvyncheck the bodies, and you both come to the conclusion that they are dead. Malvyn isn't certain, but there are spots of blood that are dried to an extent that they did not just happen. Although, you also do not really see cuts or other wounds on these two. You aren't sure exactly how they were killed.
As you look more closely at the bodies, you see a simple hawk symbol imprinted on their armor. Kira notices this and remarks, "It's the Mountain Hawk's symbol. They're a group of bandits around Silkmeadow. Never seen them when we've gone up here, but I've heard stories of them here and there."
"Bandits!?", Guardok exclaims in surprise. "If the bandits are dead, who would have killed them? I would have thought bandits would have set upon travellers. But if they did and they were fought off, where are the travellers? Or is there a rival band of..well bandits", he asks as he checks the bodies for possessions, looking to see if they were robbed.
"We should perhaps notify the proper authorities in Silkmeadow." Malvyn says as he gets up to move on, the thought of them following the tracks not even occuring to the young student.
Guardok checks the bodies. One has a pouch with 1 gp, 13 sp. The other's pouch has 27 sp in it. There is a scimitar beneath one of them, in addition to the scimitar you had observed earlier. Each also has a pair of daggers. They do not seem to have been robbed.
Kira nods slow to Malvyn. "I suppose we could let the authorities know. It doesn't seem like this is our concern. Just bandits fighting amongst themselves. Should we get going then?"
The purple-skinned tiefling looks at Guradok and scratches his head. "You might be right, all the more important we notify the proper authorities." He says, not sure how to continue. "Ehm, you're not thinking we should go off on a rescue mission are you?" He says a bit skeptic after a moment of awkward silence. It wasn't that he didn't want to do the right thing, it just wasn't what he expected of this trek, but he knew he wouldn't refuse to go if Guardok insisted, he trusted the earth genasi to make the proper call here.
Kira looks off in the direction where Guardok had noted the tracks. "I certainly am not going to get in a fight with bandits. We should get back to town and let authorities there worry about this." As she continues looking, she adds. "I think I see something over there." If anyone looks, you see something glint in the sun a bit over 100 ft. away.
Guardok looks unsure with the others averse to following the trail. When Kira mentions she sees something, he does indeed look, and seeing the glinting moves carefully towards it.
Guardok carefully moves towards the glint, trying to stay quiet and seeming to keep out of sight should any be lurking nearby. He finds a piece of metal, reflecting the sun a bit. It seems to be a sort of mask which would cover most of the face. The design is rather simple with a few ridges, holes for the eyes, and little other adornments. You notice some scrapes across one side and one small corner appears to have been broken off. There is also a bit of dried blood on it.
Malvyn hesitates for a moment before following his friend. Aurora would probably tell him to just grow a pair but more importantly, he wouldn't be able to live with himself if anything happened to Guardok. "Did you find anything?" He says quietly as he comes up behind the earth genasi.

Guardok places the things he finds out next to the bodies.
”These people didn’t kill themselves. What if whoever they set upon was taken by other surviving Mountain Hawks?”.

"Just a mask", Guardok reports back. "Does this mean anything to you, Kira?", he adds as he makes his way back to where she is.
"It is broken and bloody, see", he adds showing the others.
Kira shakes her head as she looks at the mask Guardok holds. "I've not seen anything like it before. Do you guys know what it is?"

Malvyn curiously takes a closer look at the mask that Guardok found. Perhaps he has read something about such things somewhere.
