"I hope so!" Mei gathers up the tea tray and hurries back to her room to put things away and change back into her uniform jacket. Remembering her boots this time. "Maybe we can explore a bit more of the campus after too?" she asks as she rejoins the others. "Like the Commons? Oooooor the, um... tavern? It would be a nice to end our first day on a different note. Maybe lots of notes--if we can get Mae and Guardok up on a stage!" She bites her lower lip against a cheeky smile, then flashes puppy dog eyes at the two bards.
Mae blushed a little bit at Mei's comment, or request perhaps, "Oh, well perhaps, although I'm sure they already have plenty of competent performers lined up. If not Guardok will surely show them all a good time." She smiled faintly before standing up and smoothing out her stiff student robes again and began walking toward the levitation disc again.
Lesviel smiles at the group. "Did you want me to come with you? At least to find the Professor? She's running Orientation so is probably somewhere around the Biblioplex."
She looks around to the group to see who wants to go. "That is a good idea to see if she knows anything about Piero. I'm very curious what is up with him."
As Mei mentions exploring campus and the tavern, Malvyn smiles over the purple-haired girl seemingly perking up again. He himself was still in dire need of rest but he couldn't pass up a chance to do some more exploration first with his floor mates. He found himself even looking forward to seeing both Mae and Guardok perform, maybe at the tavern, and perhaps even together. "Yes, thank you Lesviel, I would much appreciate you coming along too." The purple-skinned tiefling says with a small but quite grateful smile, ready to find Professor Sharpbeak.
"Come on Mae, it would be fun to perform together. After all, I am not used to the spotlight by myself, I usually support other folk", Guardok says jumping up and following Mae to the levitation disc.
"I have a few instruments I can bring. What do you prefer, flute, lute or lyre? Or keep it simple and the maracas?".
Lesviel nods to Malvyn, ready to follow those who wished to go in heading back to the levitation disc to head down. She leads the way towards the Biblioplex, chatting lightly with the group. It doesn't take long until the group makes it back inside.
"I suppose we should check with the Information Desk about where Professor Sharpbeak might be." It is getting a bit later in the afternoon now and the Biblioplex is not quite as busy as it was earlier. Though there are still a number of first-year groups that seem to be working on their scavenger hunts. The Elf steps over to the desk, speaking to the woman there.
Malvyn follows along, feeling awkward and uncomfortable with light chatting but he keeps a smile on. He also realizes he really should eat something soon or the others will find out just how grumpy the purple-skinned tiefling can be. "I should probably get something to eat as soon as we have met with the Professor." He says to the others with a somewhat strained smile as he waits for Lesviel to find out where they could find Professor Sharpbeak. "Perhaps at that café...or the tavern, if it is open."
"Hey Mal, you're talking my language now. I expect they will be serving food in the dining hall soon as well, which we can obviously get for free", Guardok replies to Malvyn, trying to be a little careful with his money, despite getting the platinum coin reward.
"Need to stretch those finances if I am to do two extra curricula's and not need a job".
Mei falls back a bit from the group as there's talk of food. Then, a moment later, two halves of the halloumi sandwich she chose from the Biblioplex Cafe are held out in front of Guardok and Malvyn's faces. "Here you go! You both should eat," she says, giving the halves a little wiggle as though to make them more tempting and suggesting there's not a lot of room for discussion. Feeding people certainly seems to be one of her love languages.
"Are you thinking two extracurriculars then?" she asks. "I still don't know what to do... I'd do all of them if I could. A different one every week."
The purple-skinned tiefling is about offer Guardok to buy him dinner at the tavern if he would promise to perform there, but then he finds half-a-sandwich in front of him, accepting it with a slight reluctance. He then nods in agreement with the purple-haired girl. "There are certainly many interesting clubs in Strixhaven, but we are here to study after all." He says, a bit more condescending than intended, giving the sandwich it suspicious look as he doesn't even know what a halloumi is, never having much variation in the quite traditional meals served in his prior life. "Thanks..." He says weakly to Mei, forcing a smile upon his lips, studying the sandwich a bit longer before his hunger making him take a big bite.
Perhaps it is simply the hunger, but the sandwich will be remembered as one of the best things the tiefling had ever eaten, the saltiness and texture of the cheese amazingly tasty to him, the relief and then pleasure of having discovered there was food that he wasn't used to that he still could appreciate, quite much, a smile spreading as he takes another big bite of his quickly disappearing sandwich. "Thanks." He says again, much more sincerely now. "And I too would like to join many clubs of course..." He goes on with more energy now. "...but if I get the job here at the Biblioplex I only expect to be able to have time for one of them. I was actually considering learning to paint, but I believe I will try my hands at writing for the Strixhaven Star first. What will you do?" He says looking at the others.
The woman at the information desk has elf-like ears, her hair a smoky darkness that almost seems to float about her. Her dusky skin has an immaculate smoothness to it - clearly an Aasimar. She greets Lesviel with a shy smile. When the Elf asks about Professor Sharpbeak, she nods, motioning towards the stair, but then makes a motion with her hands. Soon a strange little creature appears, toting about a scroll. The woman hands it to the creature and it flies up ino the heights of the Biblioplex.
Lesviel comes back over to the group. "Well, Professor Flintwind was kind enough to send word to Professor Sharpbeak. She will hopefully be here shortly."
Mae was about to answer about the extracurriculars but stopped herself at seeing the fellow Aasimar. She had only met one other one before, and considered herself a bit of a rarity in most circles, so the sight of another one was suddenly very intriguing to her, and it was all she could do to not begin assaulting her with questions and comments. But she did stare, not gawking, but definitely staring at the beautiful lady, a hundred questions suddenly racing through her mind.
Mei’s eyes crinkle as she watches the sandwich grow on Malvyn’s tastebuds, then they widen as he mentions painting. “Oh! I can teach you how to paint,” she offers with delight. “I-If you’d like! I think I’m going to join the artist’s society myself since, um, art is a big part of my methods for spellscribing.”
”I think the Star will be such a good fit for you though! I was actually thinking, if Professor Sharpbeak isn’t interested in an investigation,” she lowers her voice and a tint of color spreads across her cheeks, “perhaps M-Mina would be? Since she’s an investigative journalist? We could talk to her too… maybe… i-if she’s not busy.”
Mei clears her throat and is briefly distracted by the creature that took flight from the desk. She lowers her gaze to Lesviel as she explains the professor will be coming to meet them. “Oh, that’s nice of her to come to us. I’m sure it’s been quite hectic since—“ she winces, “—everything. Her focus drifts towards where they’d last seen Quentillius, hoping he’s alright, before she turns to Lesviel once more. “We were just talking about how hard it is to choose between clubs. Are you in any right now?” Mei asks their RA with a soft curiosity.
The Aasimar is a bit overwhelmed by Mae's attention. "I am Professor Aithne, umm... Flintwind." She wrinkles her nose a bit, suppressing a laugh as she says it. "My family were actually Aasimar as well. We lived in a town just to the other side of the Chimneycomb Mountains here on Arcaivos..." She tries to answer Mae'squestions as best she can.
Back with the others, Lesviel nods in response to Mei'squestion. "I am a part of the Strixhaven Show Band Association. But yea, I've thought about maybe the Playactors Drama Guild or the Intramural Gymnastics. But with working as resident assistant I'd never have time! It is tough to do everything. My main focus is music, but I'm intrigued by the idea of dance and magic performance. I may try to work on that more in the coming years."
It hasn't been too long of a wait when Professor Sharpbeak makes her way over to the Information Desk. "Ah, Miss Dresar!" she says to the Aasimar. "I saw your note and came over right away." The Owlin then sees Maefirst and then the rest of the group standing a short distance away. "How are you? What can I do for you? I hope you're all still feeling alright?"
It takes a moment before Mae realizes what she is doing and begins blushing furiously as Professor Sharpbeak comes over, quickly standing back and looking into her bag for nothing in particular. She kept close though to hear what was going on, but didn't speak up for the group.
As Mei mentions teaching him how to paint the purple-skinned teifling almost chokes on his sandwich. "I...eh...that would be very kind of you..." He starts, seeming to have mixed feelings about the quite generous offer, nervously scratching his neck with his free hand. "...but it would be too much to ask, you should spend your time with better things, I'm sure I will not be easy to teach, not even for you I'm afraid."He finishes with a weak smile. "And yes, we could go and see Mina if you want." He adds, giving the purple-haired girl a small curious smile over color of her cheeks.
The purple-skinned tiefling then gives the small winged construct a curious glance with his fiery red eyes as it flies off to presumably inform Professor Sharpbeak about her visitors. As Lesviel mentions being in the Strixhaven Show Band, Malvyn recalls seeing her at the rehearsal on the grounds in front of the Biblioplex last afernoon in company with that trumpetist. He wondered briefly if that is how they met, in the band.
As Professor Sharpbeak arrives, Malvyn looks over his floor mates, gathering courage in the fact that they all had seemed quite supportive of him and each other, then taking half-a-step forward to address the owlin. "Ehm..yes, I think we're all alright..." He starts, briefly glancing over at Mei, hoping at least she felt alright after all that happened. "...it was however one thing that...I failed to mention earlier, I have no excuse. We found a strange oily substance that seemed to have been smeared onto the trunk that turned into that monstrosity and then back into an ordinary trunk. I...we think it might have been put there for the effect we witnessed. I have not yet had the time for a closer examination of what we found though. Also..." He says, but pauses to look over at Mei again, not wanting to mention her dream unless she wanted to.
"Thanks Mei", Guardok says reaching up and taking the sandwich and immediately starting to nibble on it as they walk.
"I have debated whether to get a job, but have money enough to last a fair few weeks without one, so thought I would take two extracurricular activities for a while and decide which I like best if I do need to get a job in future", he explains to Mei. "Although the good jobs might all be taken by then", he adds sounding a little less sure of himself.
When they reach the information desk, he stands on tip toes so he can see better, and watches in fascination as the aasimar sends the little winged creature off.
"Cool", he says under his breath.
On hearing about Lesviel's involvement in the show band and hearing about dance and magic performance, he asks, "Which club would be best for dance and magical performance?".
He allows Malvyn to lead the explanation regarding the chest. He doesn't really understand about black oily substances anyway.
"An oil?" Professor Sharpbeak says in repsonse to Malvyn. "I hadn't noticed anything like that. Are you sure?"
Lesviel responds to Guardok. "Well, I mentioned the gymnastics - I've thought that might lend itself to dance. The Playactors do incorporate some magic but not a lot. But it would be good practice. Some of the Prismari professors work with various performance aeras too. But I guess that's not extracurricular then."
Chara adds her two cents to the conversation between Professor Sharpbeak and Malvyn.
"I saw the oil to... well, after it was pointed out, at least. So I'm pretty certain it was there," she says hesitantly. "Um... there's one thing that's been bothering me about this whole incident..."(that's a lie, there have been a LOT of things bothering her about this whole incident) "...I would think that it would take a really powerful spell to transform a normal trunk into a monster... and I have a hard time imagining that anyone would use the kind of magic on some stupid prank..."

Unhappy that the market got rid of individual purchases for one-off subclasses, magic items, and monsters?
The purple-skinned tiefling seems a bit relieved as Chara supports what he has said, and he nods in agreement with her astute observation. "Admittedly I don't know if it was an oil, but we found the trunk rubbed with a black, oily substance. It should still be there if you examine the trunk, and if not I took a sample if you would need it."
