Bryony enjoyed the trip to Thundertree. As she walked with the others, she realized how much she had missed the wilderness, the forests and mountains surrounding Phandalin. The city was hectic and full of noise all the time, and it usually smelled like garbage or worse. Out here the air smelled fresh and crisp. Even the rain was welcome. The halfling spent some time sticking out her tongue and catching raindrops, giggling like she was a small girl again. Her spirits were raised by the beauty of the wilds. Even when they reached the ruined village, she remained optimistic, although she wondered what had happened here to cause this.
"Plant monster? Can't say I've ever seen one of those before," she remarks. "I'm surprised Reidoth would hang out in this place, especially if there's zombies and monsters around. I wonder if that's how the village fell?"
Bryony follows Kimberley toward the cottage to the south. As she walks, she keeps her eyes peeled for any signs of Reidoth.
Back at camp, Quinn would most definitely share the bounty that Syzygy foraged. "My friend, these mushrooms are quite the treat. This meal brings back fond memories of living off the wilds with my elders. Thank you for sharing." Quinn passes his waterskin to Syzygy.
....
As the group nears Thundertree, Quinn walks with Bryony and takes in the beauty of the forest with her. He too is glad to be out in the wilds once again. The forest is home for Quinn and this time lifted his spirts.
Upon seeing the warning signs of zombies and plant monsters, Quinn draws his new longbow and readies himself.
To Bryony's question, Quinn offers up a possible answer. "I've known my fair share of druids. This is exactly the place I would expect a druid to be. They don't take kindly to people who desecrate the natural order."
Quinn walks slowly, following Bryony and Kimberly. He keeps his eyes and ears open for any threats.

Syzygy's self-agitations had eased after spending a couple of days on the road with these other travellers. Under his cloak hood, the stone in his brow glows a faint sliver. He steps quietly behind the others.
Bryony spots something. Among the weeds that flank the crumbled, roofless cottage’s open doorway (#1), are what at first appear to be a pair of dead shrubs. But it seems they could be something more unusual. The branches of these woody shrubs twist together to form a humanoid-looking body with a head and limbs. They remain perfectly still as Kimberley approaches.
Kimberley soon spots them as well, as she approaches within ten feet of them. They remain motionless.
“Plant creatures….maybe. Or maybe they were once people.”
Quinn sidesteps to the east hoping to gain a vantage point to the eastern flank of #1 as well as a glimpse into two structures due southeast of #1. He’ll pay extra attention to any plants that seem out of sorts.

"It looks like it," Bryony muses. When the people-shaped plants don't immediately react to their presence, she decides to move closer and investigate. She reaches out to touch one of the plants gently, but she has her sword in the other hand ready just in case.
Upon arrival at Thundertree, Aros falls silent. Enchanted by the falling buildings and large amount of overgrowth, he pulls out parchment and his pen and begins taking notes on every detail of the area. Aros meanders along with the group continuing his notes until the plant creatures are discovered. ”Nobody move. I will see if I can figure out what is dangerous around here.” Aros whispers to himself while starlight twinkles in his eyes. He looks around for animals who he can speak with.
Bryony touches one of the humanoid plants (and Kimberley readies her mace in case it responds poorly.) But it does not move nor react in any way.
Quinn tries to get a better look at the twin cottages to the southeast (#U2) but without approaching too closely, he finds that much of his view is obstructed by the young trees and crumbling walls. Jurgen and Draco see nothing alarming.
It takes a bit of looking, as the area seems relatively absent of animal life, but Aros finally spots a little starling high in a tree, watching.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Bryony shrugs when the plant person doesn't react. "Weird," she says. Then she proceeds toward the cottage nearby (U1). She will attempt to make her way inside and peer around, looking for signs of recent habitation.
Aros casts Speak with Animals. “Hello starling friend. What kind of dangers are in the area? Also, my group is looking for a Druid that spends time nearby. Do you know of this person and where they are?”
Quinn struggles to spot anything of use. He see's Aros peering up high, Quinn follows his gaze and smiles as he see's Aros try to communicate with the little bird. Quinn tried to learn this ability when he was a young lad. Though most of his clan were herbalists, farmers and rangers, some of the more wise and gifted amongst his people became druids.
The nostalgia disipates and Quinn goes back to business scouting for threats. He spots Bryony approaching one of the structures so he moves in closer.
OOC: Quinn will be at the junction of overgrown trail between U1 and U2

Bryony enters the ruins of cottage #1, followed carefully by Kimberley. It's just an empty shell, really, ringed with stone walls varying between 5 to 8 feet high. The roof is long gone, leaving piles of debris inside the walls. (The debris is Difficult Terrain.) There is no obvious evidence that anyone has been inside it for years. There is nothing of immediate interest within. The two plant things remain perfectly still.
"Dragon!" peeps the little bird to Aros in bird tongue."Dragon! Danger! Dragon! Bad plants! Ash dead! Danger! Danger! Dragon! Danger!"
Bryony shrugs again. "Not much to see here," she says.
She leaves the cottage and notices Aros apparently talking to a bird. Excited, she goes over to him. "Can you actually understand it?" she exclaims. "That's neat!" For her the bird sounds excited, chirping rapidly, but she has no idea what it is saying.
”Thank you.” Aros turns to the group. ”The starling said there are a number of dangers. Bad plants, which I assume are the plant creatures from inside the building. Ash dead, whatever that is. It also mentioned a dragon.”
