The two wolves charge in. One stops to sniff Klarg's head. The other growls menacingly at Syzygy.
Yeemik runs along the top of the shelf, then clambers down the stone steps. Looking between Syzygy and Quinn, Yeemik chooses Quinn. He hops off the steps and flanks his goblin archer before launching an attack upon Quinn: Yeemik Scimitar Attack #1 vs. Quinn: 18. Hit:7 slashing damage. Yeemik Scimitar Attack #2 vs. Quinn: 12. Hit:8 slashing damage.
Syzygy is up next (but make another Animal Handling check first, especially if he wants to use his movement or other sudden moves...)
Quinn parries one attack, but cannot parry the other. He's bloodied and loosing strength. He digs deep and musters the strength for, perhaps, one last attack. He slashes at the goblin boss with his battle axe and then stabs with his dagger.
Action: one handed attack with his battle axe. 23 to hit for 8 damage.
Bonus action: off-hand dagger attack. 15 to hitfor 4 damage.

The wolf harassing Syzygy finally jumps him. Bite Attack vs. Syzygy: 9. Hit: 7 piercing damage and must succeed on a DC 11 Strength saving throw or be knocked prone.
The other wolf looks warily between its kin, Syzygy, and the head it was sniffing. (The third wolf is still down the tunnel somewhere.)
Quinn and Syzygy are the last two standing. The dark, smoky cave is a sea of carnage - with the dead and the dying everywhere: The bodies of eight goblins, four humans, a halfling, a kobold, and the disembodied head of a bugbear king sprawled across the filthy floor in a bloody diorama of death.
Two wolves sniff around, one acting rather aggressively with Syzygy (who just carefully dodged the sudden snapping jaws at his ankle.)
Their comrades are in bad shape, and may be already dead. (Sir Roderick looks the worst off, with an arrow through his throat.)
Sir Roderick, Tessa, and Bryony should each make another Death Save. (Sir Roderick will expire if he doesn't succeed.) Human prisoner death save: 15
Then, Syzygy and Quinn may act. (Syzygy should roll another DC5 Animal Handling check to avoid another attack from the aggressive wolf, or a DC15 Animal Handling check as his action to try to permanently calm the wolf – at advantage if he has any more food to give. He may, of course, also attack it if he chooses, instead.)
Inside every Shadar-kai there are two wolves. Today, Syzygy is not the alpha.
He has already given every scrap of food. Now, he kneels in submission, eyes to the floor, lowest and without threat. Just a pup looking for a pack. “There, there,” he says in soothing tones to the wolves (but actually addresses) Quinn, “any rations left Quinn?”

[writing this part after I rolled the Nat 20: Syzygy having nostalgic flashback montage of the long journey he’s been on with the wolves, the ups and downs]
"Careful, friend...I'm afraid I don't have any rations."
Just then, the ranger see's a subtle, yet perceptible shift in the wolves.
"Whatever you're doing...keep doing it. I have to check on our friends."
Quinn will move slowly and methodically, avoiding eye contact with the wolves. He eyes Tessa, but her proximity to the wolves concerns him so he decides to go for Bryony. Quinn moves up the stone stairs to aid his friend. He finds young Bryony lying on the floor bleeding and her breath shallow. He digs out on of the ornate glass bottles he found in King Klarg's stash. He swirls the liquid and watches it shimmer. He unplugs the bottle, craddles the back of her head and slowly pours the contents into her mouth.
He traces the shape of a swirl on her forehead and whispers a silent prayer to Melora.

Quinn clambers up the crude stone steps and feeds Bryony the red elixir he found. His hunch turns out to be correct. She awakens, her wounds suddenly closed, healing5 hit points.
Syzygy's wolf joins its companion, sniffing Klarg's head.
Tessa may make another Death Save. (She has two successes, no failures, so far.)
Then, Bryony, prone, may act, as may Syzygy.
Jurgen slumbers on.
