Phandelver and Below: The Shattered Obelisk

Jorzu 

Last to leave the room, Jorzu is greeted by a fully developed battle when he turns the corner at the top of the stairs. His eyes are immediately drawn to the hovering mutant. He matches it's ranged energy attack with his own sending two pulsing orbs of Force energy aimed at its body.

M - move 25ft up the stairs and around the corner.

A - Eldritch Blast x 2 at the cultist

Blast Attack 1: 17 Damage: Unable to parse dice roll.

Blast Attack 2: 10 Damage: 7

Quinn rushes up and tries to carve away one of the alien gemmules attached to Boona, lit up in the eerie spotlight. He further injures one, but it is still not bloodied.

Thiala fires her hand crossbow from the back of the hallway at the same gemmule: 
Hand Crossbow Attack vs. Gemmule: 10. Hit: 5 piercing damage, and the gemmule must make a DC13 CON Save: 14...

His raven tears at the shrieking, flapping cultist high overhead. She grapples with the raven on her face, tumbling in the air, as Jorzu blasts away at her. She falls to the floor with a sickening thud, quite dead, as the raven settles on the statue near Bryony.

Boona takes 13 piercing damage as the two attached leeches begin to drain her of energy. (She should also make a Concentration check.

The two unattached gemmules slam Boona again, and attempt to attach:
#3 unattached Psychic Slam Attack vs Boona: 20. Hit: 20psychic damage.
#4 unattached Psychic Slam Attack vs Boona: 8. Hit: 16psychic damage.

Boona: make two DC 14 Dexterity saving throws. For each failed save, one gemmule enters your space and attaches to you . 

The two attached gemmules attempt to keep the rest of you at bay:
#3 unattached Psychic Slam Attack vs Jurgen: 23. Hit: 11psychic damage.
#4 unattached Psychic Slam Attack vs Quinn: 24. Hit: 27psychic damage.

Everyone may act. (As an action, Boona or anyone else within 5 feet of her can detach one gemmule by succeeding on a DC 15 Strength check.)

Jurgen uses his last spell slot to cast shield and avoid the gemmules attack. 

He again casts Green Flame and attacks the gemmules. 

Attack: 22 to hit with 20 DMG (11+2+7) and 13 DMG to the one next to it. 

BA: Hero attacks: 21 to hit with 10 damage. 

Wrong medium

Nightblade:

Seeing the beating Boona is taking, Nightblade pushes his way forward and bestows powerful healing energy on her.

Brandishing his sword, he moves in close to the gemmules, trying to give them an additional target—and hoping his defenses are sufficient.

Cure Wounds at Level 3 on Boona:  34

DC 13 to maintain concentration on Summon Beast. Con Save = 20

Quinn pummels on the gemmule that Jurgen attacks. His raven screeches loudly and dives in at the same target, tearing at its flesh.

Quinn's Attack

Attack 1: 13 to hit for 8 damage
Attack 2: 17 to hit for 15 damage (12 + 3 colossus slayer)

Raven's Attack

Attack: 16 for 10 damage 

Bryony climbs back down from the statue and starts attacking one of the gemmules that isn't yet attached to Boona.

Attack 1 (Shortsword): 13 to hit for 6 piercing damage (assuming a miss so no Vex advantage on the next attack)

Attack 2 (Dagger of Venom): 17 to hit for 6 piercing damage (tried to re-roll with Puncture but got the same roll) +  7 sneak attack damage (if an ally is within 5 feet)

Jurgen continues to slash at the two unattached alien creatures with his flame-soaked blade. Both are badly injured.

Nightblade squeezes by Boona and finds a place to perch on the rubble to the north of her. He brings her a healing and perhaps a distraction to the gemmules.

Quinn manages to crush one of the unattached gemmules - it falls dead to the floor. His raven tears at the other, but it continues to jostle and bounce.

Bryony manages to climb down and kill the other. (Unfortunately, this requires stepping into Boona's moonlight. Bryony: Make a DC14 CON Save or take 13 Radiant damage; half on a success.)

The door opens to the east. An older drow man appears matching the description of Ontharyx, with three unhealthy-looking humanoids behind him in the darkened room. "What in the...? What's going on here?" shouts Ontharyx with concern. The other three, seeing the dead cultist on the floor, raise their fists in fighting stances, but Ontharyx gestures with annoyance at them. "Just relax," he urges them, pantomiming instructions for them to lower their arms, which they do.

Alâedixx, Boona, and Jorzu may act next. Two gemmules continue to drain Boona. (Reminder: As an action, Boona or anyone else within 5 feet of her can detach one gemmule by succeeding on a DC 15 Strength check.)

Boona Con Save- 20

Boona remained within the shaft of moonlight and grasped one of the gemmules in each hand before squeezing them as her hands glowed with green light.

Attack: 17 Damage: 6 + Divine Smite 10

Attack: 22 Damage: 6 + Divine Smite 6

Bryony CON Save - 19

Bryony only manages to suffer a passing moonburn (1 damage).

Boona maintains concentration on her spell as she crushes the gemmules attached to her - both yet live, but one is now near death.

"There's no need to fight, here," coos Ontharyx as he tries to lower hostilities on both sides. Although Nightblade has never met Ontharyx, his mannerisms are familiar to him, and he knows Ontharyx's reputation as a respectable drow noble.

Alâedixx and Jorzu may act next. 

Nightblade:

"Your sons wish to speak with you, Master Ontharyx," calls out Nightblade, "But your reception committee has been quite...aggressive."

"They're doing their job," replies Ontharyx, glancing down at the dead cultist on the floor. "Or did." He studies Nightblade's face curiously. "Nythalyn and Yanthdel are here? Have they heard the call? Have they come to listen to the Obelisk? Are they here for the impossible truths? Go ask them what they've heard, my good drow. I am eager to talk. But do not bring them here yet."

Alâedixx and Jorzu may still act, if they wish.

 Jorzu 

About to unleash more energy onto the battlefield, Jorzu pauses when he sees the drow emerge. Alâedixx looks at his boss and thumbs towards the elf whilst mouthing "That's him". Jorzu nods as he drops his hands to his side. When Ontharyx finishes Jorzu asks simply; "Not yet?"

The cultists relax and lower their fists as Ontharyx continues to try to lower the temperature. "Go," he repeats to Nightblade. "Ask my sons if they've heard the call. Then return and I will listen to your answer."

The two surviving gemmules don't seem to comprehend the pause in hostilities, however. Boona takes an additional 15 piercing damage to their leeching (together with another concentration check), and Nightblade and Bryony continue to feel their waves of psionic repulsion:

Psychic Slam Attack vs. Nightblade: 21. Hit: 13 psychic damage.
Psychic Slam Attack vs. Bryony: 21. Hit: 16 psychic damage.

Nightblade:

Not knowing for sure if the Gemmules have visual organs they use for targeting, Nightblade reflexively reacts to the attack with Eye Burn, DC 15 Constitution.

Nightblade:

Irritated, Nightblade stabs back at the Gemmule who attacked him, saying, “Well, these things don’t know to stand down.”

Green flame Blade attack:  15

((Bryony will use Uncanny Dodge to halve the damage to 8.))

Bryony strikes back at the gemmule that hit her with such psychic force. She has no idea what Ontharyx is talking about and is feeling a little annoyed by his inaction. He really must've fallen under the sway of the cult. She realizes they are probably going to have their work cut out for them in persuading him to rejoin his sons. 

Shortsword attack against gemmule: 25 to hit for 9 piercing damage + 15 sneak attack damage

Dagger of Venom attack against gemmule (Vexed): 27 to hit for 6 piercing damage 

Reaction: Uncanny Dodge

Boona is confused, she is keeping the nuggets on her so no one else gets hurt.....but somehow they seem to be getting hurt inside their heads.....she is getting angry and the old elf is very close to turning that anger into a splattening.

" Boona Stupid, this Boona Know. Bonna Knows Stupid Very Well."

She glared at Ontharyx, " You? Very Stupid."
