Kragen, looks equally grumpy as Dwarvens usually do.
Over TheCompanyNet. "Of note to all, i had a tearse sending with Xagyg back in the spine of the world. I told him we would need to understand what his plans were for the staff. The Company would not have it used for nefarious means. I communicated as such. He either gets over it or we find another owner. We risked our lives to vanquish the Wizard and retrieve it, he did not."
Kragen steps forward, his own gems glistening from his beard.
Nods to Xagyg "Mage Xagyg, The Comapny finds you well. Our efforts to find the Wizard Illandial were fruitful, as i mentioned in my sending. We have returned, with some.luck, help from a Celestial named Sariel and the Lord of Axiom. We have destroyed his means of taking another form. His purposes were far more concerning than we.had understood." Pauses to allow a response
"Well, done Kragen. The destruction of Iliandil is a wonderful side effect. Axiom is a strong ally. It is heartening to hear that you got along well," he greets you. "Welcome to my home. Not to put too fine a point on it, but is that the staff?," he asks.
Xymox over TheCompany.net: "Easy master cleric...let's see what they have to say. I'm interested in both intentions and rewards."
Xymox steps forward with unhurried elegance, removing one glove as he approaches. He offers a deep, practiced bow — one suitable for archmages, kings, and those whose displeasure might rearrange reality itself.
A warm, conciliatory smile follows.
“Master Xagyg… it seems your reputation for efficiency extends even to dimensional hospitality.”
His silver eyes flick briefly toward the gathered dwarves and their interrupted wager.
“Forgive our somewhat… enthusiastic arrival. My companions have crossed planes, slain abominations, negotiated with celestials, and survived one another for quite some time now. Precision of etiquette occasionally suffers under such conditions.”
A gentle glance toward Kragen — respectful, supportive, never corrective.
“Know that any urgency in our words comes not from distrust, but from the weight of what we have carried to reach you.”
He straightens smoothly.
“I am Xymox Xel’Mizzrym — bard, witness, and humble chronicler of the expedition you set into motion.”
One graceful gesture encompasses The Company.
“We return as promised… bearing conclusions, hard-won truths, and confirmation that Illiandil’s ambitions have been ended beyond recall.”
His tone shifts subtly — sincere now, absent theatrical flourish.
“Your warning regarding the Staff was remembered. Carefully.”
A respectful inclination of his head.
“If caution has colored our discussions, it is only because we have seen firsthand the cost of unchecked curiosity.”
A faint smile returns, lightening the moment.
“And, I confess, after surviving the Abyss, failed lichdom, and planar negotiation with beings far above my musical pay grade… it is genuinely reassuring to arrive somewhere expected.”
He bows once more.
“It is an honor to finally meet you properly, Master Xagyg. We are grateful for your patience — and pleased to report that your problem… has been resolved.”
Over TheComapnyNet <duly noted Bard, i lack the ability nor patience for finer talk. Carry on, this is your arena.>
Kragen nods and smiles to Xygag. "Thank you Master Xygag, we are honored to be welcomed into your home." Bows formally.
As Xygag references the artifact, Kragen pulls the Staff from his back and unwraps his tattered cloak, revealing rhe Staff of the Void. Holding the Staff, allows the conversation to progress.
"Well said, Xymox. We look forward to learning more about you during your stay with us," Xagyg responds. He turns his attention to Kragen and holds out his hand, "If you please?"
The two dwarves flanking him fix their gaze upon Kragen.
Kragen looks at Xygag in the eyes, then places the staff in his hand. His hand remains closed on the staff for a brief moment, both dwarves clutching the shaft.
"Master Xygag, this item.is an artifact which, was used to commit countless atrocities. The amount of blood that has been shed using that item is of utmost concern to me and The Justice Bringer. Before i intrust this foul item, and yes, i can hear and feel the anguish as i touch it. Tyr compels me to ensure this item is either destroyed or used to advance life, not destroy it. What say you sir, will you lay bare before Tyr's judgement?" Kragen continues to hold the shaft of the staff, firmly yet non threatening, looking deeply into the Dwarfs soul.
Xagyg returns Kragen stare with a steely-eyed glare backed by the weight of mountains. “It is not you who tests me, Priest of Tyr. I have been blessed already by those who far exceed your authority. Relinquish the staff and be done with it,” he states. The dwarves at his side are most attentive. The construct is unmoving.
Kragen returns the stare, the weight of Tyr's radiance glowing brightly. "You are correct, it is not I whom will judge you. Tyr sees those of ill heart and the scales of Justice will weigh all." Pauses for a moment then sighs "I believe you have admirable intent, however you have left us with open questions and provided nothing but" pauses for a moment "demands?" Looks questioningly
"In an effort to build trust and credibility between us, an olive branch so to speak. I believe we" looks to his comrades "are aligned that the Staff be remanded into your care." You see Kragen hesitate briefly, then frown and look down at the Staff, he then release his grip on the shaft quickly as if the staff were extremely hot.
"My hope is that you either destroy it or repurpose it for the benefit of others. That is a foul item, i can feel it's influence!"
Xagyg accepts the staff. His eyes widen for a moment as he looks into the cap piece and the swirling stars within. He then hands it to the construct who takes it in its left hand. The two flanking dwarves seem to relax ever so slightly and the Gate behind you closes.
Xagyg looks over all of with a rather stern expression. Something you recognize as resting-dwarf-face. "Your journey was likely arduous. I would hear of what you encountered. Rooms are made ready for you to relax. We will dine tonight with my advisors," he says and turns to go. The dwarf to his right again makes a subtle gesture. Xagyg stops, "What?....oh." He then turns to you, "Thank you. What you have done has been of great service. We will talk further at dinner." He then moves to leave with the construct through one of the door. Right side dwarf remains with you as left side dwarf follows.
Bowing, "I am Baldruin. Welcome to Star Hall. Master Xagyg has spoken sooth. Rooms are ready for your arrival. Your gear can be repaired and cleaned as need be as well. Warm baths and muscle treatments are available as you request. Dinner will be in the Hall of Truths. That is in five hours."

Xymox over TheCompanynet: "Dwarves are really interesting creatures....anyway, did he say anything about compensation?"
Baldruin leads you out the door opposite the one taken by Xagyg and Gang. Several passages are taken and he explains you are now in the dormitory dome, "The level you are on and the two below are accommodations. The level above you is the working garden. It provides refreshed air as well as fresh fruits and vegetables. There is a fountain and quiet walk paths as well if you like. Feel free to walk about here. I do ask that you seek a guide to venture further afield here. There are areas that are private and others that are secure."
He brings you to a hallway ending in a set of large double wooden doors with brass trimming. The doors open into a large lounge area. Several clusters of comfortable furniture are set about. There is a cupboard and side board with trays of fruit and cured meats set alongside bottles of wine, spirits and other beverages. A large fire pit is in the center and is vented with a chimney leading up through the ceiling. Very nice rugs cover the floors. It is a richly appointed space. Leading from this are several private rooms. Doors to six of them stand open. Two valets are in the room and introduced to you. They are here to answer to your needs and requests.
"Make yourselves comfortable. Your valets will bring you to dinner at the correct time," Baldruin finishes. He turns to go after answering any questions you have and adds, "Also, this is a peaceful House. There is no need for the wearing of armor or weapons as you walk about."
Yartol bids Baldruin farewell and walks towards the nearest room. "I will be taking a nap unless needed," he says. You can hear him quietly commenting,"...too fancy....make a man soft....what? A hot bath is already prepared.....who are you?...here for my deep sinew massage?...." The last heard as he closes the door.
"How long until dinner? Any chance of getting a bath and the muscle treatment thing in?
Also do you have a quill, and some parchment I could use please?"
Chadwick will stow his weapons and armor in a room. He keep his gauntlets and cloak on. He write some letters home if he has time and they are willing to supply the materials.

The Company was tested in our last enterprise and would do well with some rest. I will certainly put the gardens to use, the beauty of your gardens and a secluded spot to find refuge in Tyr's radiance will bolster my inner strength."
Upon seeing the apartments and their luxury, Kragen's eyes grow wide. "Xagyg honors use with his generous accommodations!" Kragen enters the apartment and begins to doff his armaments.
