Around the room are work benches with a variety of apparatus sets upon them. There is a large desk with delicate tools set about and papers. Two large tables are in the center of the room with more of the alchemical apparatus sets around them. On the tables you see two people. Both are in five point leather restraints. One is an elf who is the subject of a vivisection. He remains alive, but appears unconscious. The apparatus beside his table is connected to him with tubes running into his arteries and veins. His head has been shaved. The second is a human woman with long blonde hair. She is covered only with two cloths to maintain modesty. You can see that she has an athletic physique. She is straining at the restraints. Her mouth is gagged. The apparatus next to her has tubes running up to the experimentation table. They are lying beside her.
Standing around the room and the tables are several humanoids. They all have blank stares as they perform simple tasks at each station. Four more cultists are here armed with light crossbows and scimitars. One fires his crossbow from across the room at Gneuman as he rounds the corner, to hit = 22 for 3 piercing damage.
There are two exits from the room by more tunnels. Straight ahead you see a trifling in robes standing in that tunnel. He is preparing to cast a spell. To your left is another tunnel. Standing there you see a mind flayer. Its left hand is clenched into a fist and the right is extended towards you as its tentacles writhe about. In front of the mind flayer is a wolf-like creature that appears to be able to walk on two legs as well as four. It has long talons extending from its front claws and is snarling as it approaches you.
In the center of the room a glowing shield and mace hover over the table with the woman upon it. A sigil on the shield is of the same octopus symbol on the orcs and cultists.

Chadwick enters the cavern and throws daggers at Cultist8. The cultist grins as he dodges the first dagger, but catches the second in his neck. He goes down, messily.
The woman on the table is sprayed by Cultist8’s blood. He eyes get big as strains anew at the restraints. You can see she is trying to look your way as she screams into the gag in her mouth.
Cultist9 moves to the side of Cultist21 to block that tunnel. He throws his javelin at Chadwick, to hit = 20 for 7 piercing damage.
Attack cultist 12. First roll 12 to hit, 11 damage. Second roll was a miss. If this hit and if the cultist dies (assuming no), Hoid will move into the other cavern. If not, stay put to deal with cultist 12
Hoid strikes Cultist12 solidly with Starker's staff. "Crazy Eyes" is lights out. He then moves to the laboratory cavern with Chadwick.
The tiefling across the hall casts Spiritual Weapon placing it beside Hoid and Chadwick. He strikes at Chadwick, to hit = 26 for 8 Force damage. Chadwick's concentration check fails, CON save = 8. Hunter's Mark no longer active. "You are just in time for the auspicious event, lads. Come and observe as Nolreth the Mindseer consumes Lady Arin's brain and gains all of her knowledge," he says wickedly. Lady Arin's efforts against her restraints are redoubled at this pronouncement. She remains securely fastened to the table.

Trolkarl drinks the Potion of Heroism while moving into position. He then fires two blasts of his Eldritch Blast spell at the Barghest with advantage. Both hit for a total of 6 Force damage. The Barghest snarls in pain and moves to the side of the table with Lady Arin strapped down. She tries to recoil from the creature without much success due to the restraints.
The thralls in the room shuffle forward and move to form a wall between you and the laboratory. Cultist21 moves up behind the thralls, ready to attack.
The mind flayer moves up to Lady Arin and leans down to the table to encircle her head with its tentacles. It attacks with its tentacles to hit = 12 for 17 Psychic damage. She makes a DC 15 INT save to avoid being stunned = 10.
Starker’s spell is deflected by Duren’s Mage Armor spell.
Ajax flies over the thralls and unleashes a blinding spray of flashing colored light. 43 HP affected. The barghest is blinded and howls in fury.
During his flight, Ajax flew over the lab table with the elf. The glowing shield and mace reacted by attacking him. DEX save = 25, he took 10 Force damage and was badly injured.
