The room you are in with the tipsy-turvy floor has no other doors you can see other than the one Xymox opened. The door opened to a wall with a niche and sculpted hands in a cupping position. Gems fill the hands. Writing is all over the wall.

Xymox yells over his shoulder: “All right, scholars of doom—no dithering. I’m taking one sapphire. Singular. If the tomb throws a tantrum, at least it will match my eyes.” To Kragen, "Master dwarf, ready yourself."
If there are no objections, Xymox will grab the gem.
Starker send Jievs to pick up and retreive a gem that Xymox recommends. “Something blood red, if you see one, please.
”It may be that these tokens of our individual demonstrations of prudent self-interest and lack of greed will allow us to pass portals barred to avarice or cowardice.”
Using his eagle eyes, what options of gems are available?
Xymox grabbed Sapphire, Starker red (ruby?). Others??
Only a sapphire has been taken. "Starker send Jievs to pick up and retreive a gem that Xymox recommends. “Something blood red, if you see one, please."
We’ve only seen a single glyph, one that seemed to mark the greedy. Beyond that, are we not wandering into assumptions about a lich’s riddle? Parsing such poetry is no talent of mine. If each of us taking a gem is truly essential, I’ll do so—reluctantly. But until then, this feels more like speculation than certainty.
Starker:”An excellent point. We could explore the hypothesis by having some of us with no jewels, some with one, and some with more than one, and see if passage is barred to some but not others. I will be one of those with one jewel.”
“All right, sages and smiters—what’s the play? Do I pluck a gem for each of us, only for volunteers, or leave the lich's candy bowl alone? We’re guessing either way.”

There is no other room.
Xymox: "Mage hand? Grab one? Leave it alone?"
Starker:”These hand are unshaken, but I doubt they are the referent for the hands in the poem:
No death dared claim him, his knowledge complete, / Not bound to this tomb, though here lies his seat.”
“For those who pry with eyes unearned, / From soul to shell, your fate be turned.”
“A prize awaits the hand unshaking, / But only through the truth forsaking.”
“From shadow deep to astral flame,
I crafted death and gave it name.
But wisdom lies beyond the gate,
Not through the doors that tempt with fate.”
Starker:”I think you can take ONE, not <zero> or <two or more>.

Xymox extends his hand forth and draws a sapphire from the selection of gems in the cupped hands.
Sapphire 1,000g added to your sheet

Yartol looks at Starker with an amazed look.
Using his eagle eyes, what options of gems are available?

Sitting in the cupped hands are about a dozen jewels. You see diamonds, rubies, emeralds, sapphires and topaz.
Only a sapphire has been taken. "Starker send Jievs to pick up and retreive a gem that Xymox recommends. “Something blood red, if you see one, please."
Xymox has not recommended one yet.
We’ve only seen a single glyph, one that seemed to mark the greedy. Beyond that, are we not wandering into assumptions about a lich’s riddle? Parsing such poetry is no talent of mine. Starker:”An excellent point. We could explore the hypothesis by having some of us with no jewels, some with one, and some with more than one, and see if passage is barred to some but not others. I will be one of those with one jewel.”
Ok, so what is the proposal then?
“I prefer not to take a gem,” Yartol states.
For now, I will continue without a gem.
"I take a single one was well, the type doesn't matter."
Xymox turns to the group...
“All right, sages and smiters—what’s the play? Do I pluck a gem for each of us, only for volunteers, or leave the lich's candy bowl alone? We’re guessing either way.”
"Do not take one intended for me. Thank you," Yartol responds.
