Starker:”I think you should not take or touch another. One each, certainly no more. Just poiny out a ruby and Jievs, my invisible servant, will recover mine.”
Xymox gives a thumbs up l to Starker and points out a ruby as requested.
"If Sir Chadwick is still intent on retrieving a gem, we need to discuss strategy."
Kragen to Xymox. “I am not sure what those gems represent, I will abstain until we can purge this evil. We can then use the spoils for more productive purposes!”
Xymox and Kragen remain standing on the wall of the alcove with the door. Beyond the door is a wall with a niche 1’ cube in the stone. Stone hands are cupped, holding many gemstones. Engraved in a multitude of languages on the wall is:
You are quite clever. Please take one as a reward.
Xymox has taken one. Starker has taken one using Misty Step to traverse the room.
"We don't know if it means one per group, or person. Perhaps we should only take one for now and error on the side of caution, we can always circle back later.
Perhaps try manipulating the hands and see if they might trigger a secret door after the second one is replaced?"
Starker:”In some languages, the second person differs if singular or plural. Let me cast my mind back to when I saw the mesage in its many languages and ask Xymox and Kragen to consider the same question: is the ‘you’ singular or plural?”

Jievs grabs a ruby, brings it to Starker, who opens his backpack and has Jievs drop it in, untouched (as yet) by Starker.
Jieves does not, as he is unable to pass beyond the opened door.
Starker:”Odd.”
Burns Misty Step twice, once going to gem room, once going back, grabs one ruby. If needed, goes minimum distance into room with teeter totter floor.

“I think that sounds like a good start. Can we put the last one back and Xymox or I can try and work to investigate the room further.”
Starker:”In some languages, the second person differs if singular or plural. Let me cast my mind back to when I saw the mesage in its many languages and ask Xymox and Kragen to consider the same question: is the ‘you’ singular or plural?”
The plurality of “you” is ambiguous.
In some languages singular, some only plural, others it is ambivalent and can be used for both.
