Starker:”Before we rest, let me see if leaving the gems pacifies the portal. Please one of you join me to drag my corpse or mangled body back to Kragen should the results refute our hypothesis.”
<sets down gems, waits for someone to indicate they will accompany him, attempts to walk through gateway with runes indicating none with the Glyph of Greed may pass.>
Starker gets to the door, takes both gems out, starts to set them down … pauses …
“I have come, but I do not choose now to do what I came to do. I will not do this deed. These gems are mine.”
puts them back in his backpack.
”Sorry to have troubled you, Colleague. Let us go back and rejoice in Xymox’s tiny pleasure dome where we will dine on honey dew and drink the milk of paradise … of … paradise.”

"Xanadu is a cousin of mine, Starker! Have you crossed paths with him as well?" 😁
When we were first brought together - very first brought together, before Starker and Xymox joined us- the mage Xagyg sent us to a dungeon through some dreamland. While we were there we needed to use gems to solve the puzzle to escape the dungeon. There were various types of gems just like here, in that case there were statues with facets and a set of clues like eagle, skull and a set of traps when those were arranged improperly.
Perhaps, Xygag was preparing us for what we have come across now.
Kragen looks thoughtful and ponders Trolkarl's recount, wondering if there was some larger plan in place??
"That is plausible, Master Trolkarl. It appears that clues to each challenge have been provided in some sinister or nefarious plot.", "If that were the case, we should apply each riddle found for each condition and use to overcome that challenge. Such as Mage Starker has done with 'saying his truth' to open the box"
Turns to Starker "The gem found in the box on the altar, was it the one you placed in the skull eye socket? If so, why there and that specific place?", "Would you care to test Silence and it's effects in the 2nd floor room with the skull?"
Then to Xymox "Master Bard, were you able to comprehend the runes above the threshold which acrimoniously adjudicated Starker morals?"
Starker:”I was prevented from placing the jewel in the eye socket by the attack of cold mists. Now I think it prevented me from naking a terrible mistake. The jewel is mine. I will not be parted from it.”
Kragen looks at Starker, then to Trolkarl and back to Starker.
"The cold impeded you as well, it was quite debilitating at that!" nods in agreement
"I care not for that STONE Mage Starker, only to destroy it once we have found and vanquished Illiandil. It sounds as if you have grown and affinity to it? I recognize you are quite curious, however this behavior does not become you."
Kragen rests his hand on Starker's shoulder in a comforting manner, while conversing with him. With his opposite hand, he slowly and nonchalantly pulls his holy water and splashes Starker with it. Saying prayer to Tyr, "Protect this soul from those that would possess him."
I would rather rest in the hut than risk the known traps in the hall and the acid trap on the entrance.

Kragen will follow Mage Starker, in the event he succumbs to further moral adjudication.
"I believe that the translation performed by Xymox in the Altar room would leave me to believe that the condition of Silence pertains to that room."

No. Those are magical runes, not a written language.

Protection From Evil (Starker) - L1
"Trolkarl, Chadwick, he is becoming possessed by this foul token from the Altar. We need to break this and remove that evil from him!"
Kragen, holding a firm grip on his shoulder, braces for Starkers reaction.
