Once Kragen observes that starker has returned to his inquisitive self, returns to the Sarcophagus and inspects it further to ensure it is void of any further undead.
No problem at all Starker. I do try to keep close enough to protect and heal. I expect we will need even more precautions when it comes to the lich. Not only are you the most fragile- he may also see you as the biggest threat.
Watching Kragen tend to the wounds. Also consider- We do have a fountain that gives us healing from rest just down the hall. But there may be risk of going to the well too many times causing other consequences.
Starker:”The fact that there are 8 rows is suggestive. Given that there are three binary ordered choices, 8 is the number of possible combinations. Indeed, these 8 are the binary numbers for 0 through 7. It may be that this plaque provides the key to arranging the the three wheels we encountered in order to bring about the effects depicted in the symbols. Or perhaps there is another triad of binary switches or levers?”
<tries to remember how we turned the wheels before and what happenened immediately thereafter>
“I think you have a plausible hypothesis wrt the Plaque Mage Starker. However, let’s catalog and gather the items we have here, finish our investigation of this room and determine our next steps. If different rooms hold different clues to uncover our target, we may want to explore those if we have no path forward.”
”would there be any need to investigate for more secret passages?”
Starker, eagerly: “Oh, please let me turn wheels counterclockwise, clockwise, clockwise! I hope that the open circles represent open or at least unlocked doors!”
We pick up the story of our hero's, The Company, having encountered the tricksy confoundery of this fell place. Our Mage, betwixt by the spiny thingys on the wall, like a raccoon trying to reach a silver coin, showers The Company in a refreshing Acid bath. Truly feeling cleansed, The Company abandons the spiny thingys at the behest of Starker and his protagonist Monkey.
Seeking more hospitable climes, they move of southwest, moving past the room with the murder holes, finding two doors of intrigue. Brave, Brave Sir Robin Chadwick opens a door which appears to harbor prison cells with manacles and other artifacts of evil doing. Oh look, at the end of the room is another shiny thingy... this one appearing to be a rubix cube of geometric shapes that portends of certain bad affects. Surly the Mage will see it's fell intent, however no, he rushes to it, allowing his curiosity to get the better of him. Using his Comanddy voice, Master Trolkarl smartly advocates for leaving the shiny geometry thingy, espousing the hypothesis that it will lead to Acid Showers and other such nefarious mechanisms.
The Company, hearing the logic in Master Trolkarl's argument, leaves for the southwestern most door (known at that time). Brave, Brave Sir Robin Chadwick opens this door seeing a beautiful large chest on a raised floor, surly full of treasures and magic! The Company postulates on entering the room feeling the foreboding of more tricksyness ahead. Kragen becomes impatient and rushes in to investigate, feeling cleansed of all his transgression from the Acid Shower. True to this godforsaken places designs, Kragen hears a click upon his first step into the room, a huge razory thingy accosts the humble cleric as he enters... to his chagrin (ouch)!
Ah the shiny chest, sitting cutely (and cattywampus) on a raised floor, eliminated by 4 torches. It looks pretty and big, surely full of magical trinkets and interesting artifacts. Another robust argument ensues, our Bard champions fooling with it while Starker drools from the depths of the group, itching to get inside. Master Trolkarl uses his commanddy voice and our eloquent bard, acquiesces to the wisdom of seeking our target, the fell lich Illiandial.
However, in the southwest corner, Kragen detects an infrastructure anomaly? A lone column, for what load baring purpose is unknown, stands erect, providing critical support to the corner of the room. Upon inspection, our Mage and I discern that it depicts the universe and it's differing planes of existence. What is concerning, is that it depicts the abyssal planes have somehow forged a conduit or connection to the Ethereal plane?? A concern indeed.
But wait, there is more... sitting in the northeast corner of this room, our Hero's find a stairway to Heaven which heads below, further into the depths of Hell!....
Our heroes encountered a gruesome flesh golem and a sprinkling of lighting infused Kitari 2600s. Sir Chadwick left caution to the wind and let loose his holy might on the ill-constructed beast, while Xymox, Trolkarl, Kragen, and Yartol soon followed suite. Trolkarl unleashed Darkbane, while Kragen produced Tyr's might. Xymox created a vortex of whirl blades around the beast, while Starker created a fireball of fun for the enjoyment of Murder Monkeys everywhere. The group was victorious, so they decided to hurl body parts out a window....for fun or something.
Then, Sir Chadwick got peppered with Magic Missiles, so they left with the booty (not buttocks, but valuables) from the creature.

"Kragen, when you are done tending the monkey could you use one of those healing kits on me please?"

Does the ivory plaque look like it has harldery on it?
Starker:”Friend Trokarl, thanks to you, too, for hauling me off of death’s door.”
Kragen leaves the sarcophagus and moves to examine Sir Chadwick. “You have taken some significant injuries, I apologize for being distracted.”

The three wheels were all turned clockwise. An acid shower bathed all in a 10’ radius and you heard a ‘click’.
Starker:”Qoud erat demonstratum!!!”
Yartol looks puzzled, “Sorry, what was that? I don’t speak Abyssal.”
