Starker:”continued application of Fire Bolt should, eventually, destroy the fabric of the door. Knock will not, I think, work against a barred door, though now that I come to think of it the principle should apply, whether it is lifting a pawl off a ratchet or a bar off a support. Let me think on it a moment.”

arcana check (will Knock unbar a door): 19
The Knock will definitely work to free up a barred door.
Starker:”… Yes…. Knock should work. The effect is independent of the mass of the blockage, or rather the repeller and repelled inertias balance nearly precisely. Let us see what is behind this door, then.”
Starker’s spell elicits a loud “KNOCK’ and the sound of a wooden beam hitting the floor follows. The doors part to reveal a chamber beyond. You make it through the barred doors to a chamber dominated by the presence of a sarcophagus. It is made of basalt stone and has a stone lid in place. On top of the lid is a carved, long skull with horns. There is a chill in the air and the sense of dread increases. The walls are unadorned and the ceiling is 12’ high. Shadows from the torches in the antechamber play across the walls.
Starker, muttering:”It makes no sense … such an elaborate and beautiful work of science and art, and it is simply a button easily manipulated to open a door? I think not.”
Starker, aloud: “I will cower around that corner back where we found this (shows complicated sphereoid) and see what other manipulations evoke. Call me if you need me.”
Goes around corner , out of line of site of the doorway, with Cyrus. Takes out notebook and pen and, taking great care, investigates the object, manipulating it and taking careful notes, trying to establish a gestalt. He smells it, plinks it and listens to reverberations, shakes it, measures it, examined it visually, and then starts to manipulate the protrubences, pushing, pulling, and twisting stystematically.
(holding off on rolling as I hope the method described miight give me advantage on my investigation)

It is.
Illiandil's Puzzle Box added to Party Equipment
Kragen assists Chadwick in opening the large doors.
The doors appear to be barred from the other side.
“Do we have magical methods to open this door?”
