Starker continues to puzzle over the Dooflinkyberg Device. Cyrus points to things in an effort to assist. Starker shakes his head pointing to other aspects of the device.
New buttons, knobs and protuberances appear as others fold into the device.

Darkbane still senses the evil of this entire complex. This evil force… Darkbane warns me that force is the power driving each of these things we have faced.

The sarcophagus is made of a single piece of basalt it appears. The lid is made of the same stone. On top of the sarcophagus is an elongated, horned skull carved from a different color of basalt. You find nothing irregular or of concern.

Sorry, Kragen. I should have been more clear. It is not just the sacophagus it is this ENTIRE COMPLEX. Darkbane speaks to me that evil this pulses through the place. The things we have face they are all driven by the power of this evil...
Hearing Starkers mutterings about the Far Realm
Starker, please share any information you have about the Far Realm with us. Every mage we’ve encountered has warned us of its dangers, especially since we first encountered strange wraiths near Kelistor Tower. If that puzzle box has anything to do with the Far Realm, it would be wise to treat it like the soul coin or the iron flask. It’s one thing if it could open a secret door to reveal the keys we need, but quite another if it conjures some far realm being to our location.

Starker:”What an inconvenient distraction from my important work on the puzzling protuberant orb.”
<sits back down to continue his lengthy, in depth (advantage giving?) investigation.>

That was an excellent effort by all!

Surely that force- it must be Illandil

If the frightened Shadow is not vanquished, Kragen will call Tyr's Radiance to dispatch it.
Once complete, Kragen returns to investigate the sarcophagus.
Investigation = 9
The shadow dissipated with the destruction of the vampire spawn.
The sarcophagus is made of a single piece of basalt it appears. The lid is made of the same stone. On top of the sarcophagus is an elongated, horned skull carved from a different color of basalt. You find nothing irregular or of concern.

Yartol, could you please provide Guidance to Starker and we can help him look at this puzzle to see if another perspecitve is useful.
Yartol obliges and casts Guidance on Starker.
Starker:”Thank you! That helps enormously!”
<Within the minute of Guidance, Starker quickly tosses to object to test whether or not its buoyancy indictares a hollow inside rechecks his notes on static charge disipation rate, and thinks hard, investigating for all he is worth.>
d4 from guidance = 4 ((!))
Investigation = nat 20 + 11 + 4 = 35 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
With guidance in place, Trolkarl will try to "help" by asking questions and being inquisitive about what Starker has learned thus far.
Hopefully, I can at least be a decent protege and Starker will get more insights himself by taking the time to explain it to me.
Not much to to share with sarcophagus. How does this box work anyway?
Looks to Chadwick "Sir Chadwick, shall we open this sarcophagus and see if it truly holds the deceased or something of import?", "if you would help me with your tremendous farm strength, we can probably move the lid askew."
Starker continues to work through his process. Cyrus and Trolkarl kibitz. He determines a few things:
- The device likely has Far Realm provenance. Whether it was made there or just influenced in design by some Far Realm entity is unclear.
- It is magical. The enchantment is shifting would be described as unstable, if it did not appear to be purposefully changing.
- It will require more in depth, arcane evaluation to determine more.
"Trolkarl, are you saying the evil you are sensing is coming from the sarcophagus?
If so, Kragen perhaps we should consider some buffs before we pop it open?"
