Starker will have Jievs dig where people need/want help from another pair of (unseen) hands. Starker will also prestidigitate wind to blow sand away. In general, just help things go faster while not getting his hands dirty. When the wind isn’t needed I wander about the ruins and see if the orcs left anything interesting near where they were posted. I will also use the monkey as a terror dowsing rod: is his fear inversly proportional to the distance from the tower only, or are there other areas that spook him.

The stairs end at a landing of a stone room overlooking a large cavern. There is a wooden deck built into the cavern with 5’ wide wooden stairs leading down to the cavern floor. The cavern appears to be around 100’ diameter irregularly shaped and circular. The ceiling domes up about 50’ high. The landing is about 20’ above the floor. The floor appears to be sandy. Across the cavern you can see a pool of water against the far wall. Water seeps from a fissure in the wall above this pool to feed it. There is no apparent outflow. The walls and ceiling are studded with crystals that are luminescent with a soft bluish light. The entire cavern is illuminated in a soft, dim light. To the left you can see a narrow passage leading from the main cavern that has bars and a door closing it off. Ahead of you are stacked barrels and crates with other gear piled upon them. To your left are a few roughly made wooden tables and chairs. What appears to be bed rolls are further back in the cave in that direction. There are several dead orcs scattered about the cave.
There is a pile of crates and barrels with other supplies against the wall here. Searching this pile will discover: three suits of chain main, shield and long swords. All of these bear the symbols of the Arcane Brotherhood. There is also a dwarf sized suit of ring mail, a battle axe, light crossbow and shield. A badly singed backpack with two holes burnt into the sides contains a shattered vial that held ink, quills, an ornate book that is badly burned, a ruptured waterskin and a singed cloak.
Continuing to dig in the area of the previously found treasure turns up:
Strongbox – Loose coins 435cp, Small leather pouch with 5 gems 50gp (Citrine, 2 Zircon, 2 Blue Jasper)
All of this is accomplished by early afternoon. You are guessing that you will need to begin your descent of the cliff by late afternoon. From the cave mouth you can see that Galban the guards have returned and begun to recover bodies.
“We should carefully go over these three bodies and their possessions. The innkeeper seemed to think they may have stolen something from Albrek. Perhaps a ring?”
“I meant bodies … of evidence. Clearly,” Starker says sheepishly. “Mind if I take the Signet Ring to show my colleague?”
I now remember my colleague telling me that the wraiths encountered in the area around the ruins are somehow tied to this. His suspicion is that they drain life force and feed whatever is imprisoned in that tower.
Starker furrows his brow, “perhaps we could cause The Thing in the Tower to starve if we lured and then killed its servants away from the tower?”
Starker says, “The owner of the signet ring employed the three former occupants of theee armor sets, He was a member of The Arcane Brotherhood. They are a cabal of wizards now led by a lich. I am told that nothing good comes of their actions. Arnak was not yet high in the hierarchy, but aspiring to be.”
Starker will also stidy the insides of his eyelids for a bit until he is adhausted (opposite of exhausted?)
Chadwick will take a short meditative rest and thank Tyr everyone made it safe.
Short Rest taken.
/plans?
1. Put armour back on
2. Resume digging in area where we found the treasure before.
3. Profit!

Cyrus is a bit on edge in the presence of the dead dragon and orcs. Moving about does not seem to alter his anxiety.
All of this is accomplished by early afternoon. You are guessing that you will need to begin your descent of the cliff by late afternoon. From the cave mouth you can see that Galban the guards have returned and begun to recover bodies.
Let's grab the dwarf's gear for him. Does the badly burned book have any content that's still legible? If so we can return that too.
Did Gneuman have a chance to check out the pool to see if anything was hidden in there?
Chadwick will take off his mail before heading back down.
The charred book is little more than a half destroyed cover and fragments of burned vellum. No useful information can be found.
Closer examination of the pool shows it to be about 6-8' deep near the cave wall. The bottom is sandy. The water is crystal clear and cold.
Starker, do you have any idea if these three could be the guards of Iarno Albrek? I was told his guards left town quickly one night without him. P
“I think so. The symbol is one associated with him.”
“We should carefully go over these three bodies and their possessions. The innkeeper seemed to think they may have stolen something from Albrek. Perhaps a ring?”
((There are no bodies. Just the armor and swords.))
You did find a ring in one of the dragon's treasure containers. See Found Signet Ring in the Inventory section of character sheets.
Didn't we all ready cast detect magic over this gear?
