After seeing the Treant not responding to Tyr's divine powers, Kragen heads below with Trolkarl intent on addressing the Portal in some manner.
Upon arriving, Kragen positions himself in front of the Portal however at a distance where he does not expose himself to the spores or webbing.
Holding his Holy Symbol with his right hand(The Scales of Justice), Kragen motions his left hand in a semi-circle muttering under his breath in an appeal to Tyr.
Chadwick will first try and talk to the treant in common, then if that doesn't work, Celestial.
"Can you tell us what ails you? We have some measure of healing abilities, but it would be helpful to know what is plaguing you."
Does Chadwick's farm and country knowledge help him identify what's wrong? 17 Nature roll.
If none of that works then Chadwick will use his Divine healing on the tree. First using 5 points for cure disease, then if that doesn't seem to do anything 5 points for cure poison.
Kragen goes below and targets the portal with a Dispel Magic spell. His WIS check = 21 which would end an 11th level spell or lower. You notice that there seems to be a wave of air carrying the spores into the portal. This is followed by a larger wave carrying spores and strands of webbing out of the portal. The portal remains. You can see that there is what appears to be a mirror image of this deck of the ship through the portal with fungal growth lining the planks of the floor and hull.

The treant appears to be afflicted with some kind of rotting disease. Chadwick remembers seeing trees like this when he was little. His father called it The Blight. Those affected trees were cut down and burned to prevent spread of the disease to other trees. His application of Cure Disease to the tree does seem to reverse some of the effects of "The Blight" seen on the treant. No other effect is seen. Following up with the Cure Poison seems to arouse the treant. Sad, rheumy (as much as a tree can appear rheumy) eyes crack open and the tree speaks through a crack of a mouth, "Hmmmmmmmmmmmm...........the evillllllllllll.................mmmmmmmmmuuuuuuuusssssssssssttttttt............sssssssssttttttttttooooooooooppppppp the evilllllllllllll........"

Kragen to Trolkarl "Something resisted my efforts to dispel and is actively maintaining the Portal, if it not for that resistance, i would have succeeded?"

"If we think it would continue to fight the affliction, i can cast Lesser Restoration <You touch a creature and can end either one disease or one condition afflicting it. The condition can be blinded, deafened, paralyzed, or poisoned>. However i fear that the being is fighting the portal and that portal is peering somewhere in this ship?!"
"Is that mirror image of the ship on the lowest cargo deck??"
"Chadwick, continue to try and sustain the beings life force. If you exhaust yourself, i will take over to keep it alive long enough for us to ride this evil."
Kragen bolts (if you can call it that) down the cargo stairs and heads for the lowest deck level.
Starker: “Well done. Excellent efforts, all. The immortal omnipotent beings who for some reason care about what you do and why you do it are, no doubt, well pleased. We’ve done all we can. Let’s disembark and burn it to ashes to stop the spread of contagion.”

Hoid, to Starker, “You may have noticed that the captain did not get close enough for us to leave this ship. She provided an unreasonable ultimatum about the spoors, so I doubt she will allow us back on the ship. I would prefer not to set the ship on fire while we are still on board. I fear we have no choice but to stay stranded on the ship or go through the portal. I will have words with the captain and will consider violence in view of her apparent abandonment of us to the evil on this ship.”
Kragen will access the other hatch to the ballast hold. Opening the hatch, casts light on his hammer and lowers his hammer into the hold. Looking for signs of mold, spores, webs…
Kragen looks below to the ballast deck. There are ballast stones laid out along the keel. No mold can be seen. The spores floating about in the air on the lower cargo deck have made it here as well around the rear hatch.
Chadwick to the Treant "Is the evil you speak of through the portal on the ship? Is the portal what's draining you and or is the spores causing you illness? Would additional cure poison castings help you"
He'll pause after each question to give the treant a chance to speak.
Trolkarl will head below upon seeing the unsuccessful healing.
Kragen, if you are not able to dispel this curse, we will need a more direct approach.
Drawing Darkbane and standing ready near the portal
Kragen returns to the deck, if Captain Mallinora is within shouting distance, Kragen will attempt to communicate the approach taken and results including what he felt when trying to Dispell the portal. "Do you have any idea on what this being is, where the other end of the portal could be on the ship or how to counter the mold/disease that is afflicting this living ship?"
To the group (all who are near). "I have exhausted my capabilities, are there any other ideas on how to address?", "I am not aligned with Starkers assessment to destroy this living entity!" Frowns when looking at Starker. "However, i am not sure that advancing through the portal is the wisest course of action??" Pauses to listen.

Dispel Magic L3 on the portal.

Gneuman and Ajax will follow.

Hoid will go through the portal.
“That escalated quickly.”
Starker sighs, casts Mage Armor, and follows Hoid.
Starker: “Consider the possibility that this is a portal to the near future.”

You get no more response from the treant.
Mallinora listens to Kragen and shrugs with her hands up. 🤷🏼♀️
She does not recognize this.
”What do you want to do?,” she asks.
Did Hoid already go through, or was he voting to go through?
No one has gone through the portal.
