Are private rooms available at the Happy Beholder? Preferably rooms with disintegration proof walls. Just in case he stops being happy.
It is daybreak at this time. Durgan Vox instructions were to return the with item of interest "tomorrow night."
The Happy Beholder has private rooms for food and drinks. It is not an inn.
I am in alignment with Hoid, let's find a room here and discuss our next steps. I felt like we rushed into the Vox agreement and would prefer a more thoughtful approach to our next steps.
Ok. Someone will need to open the black laquered. box as it contains a necromantic object. (Starker prefers not to be the opener.) When we’ve gotten settled into a private room, Starker orders three small sherries, gives Cyrus two, and after a few sips of the third starts the ten minutes series of subtle gestures and soft utterances that will allow him to Identify the items which emanated enchantment. He will avail himself of Cyrus’ services when it comes time to touch the objects, as Starker fears unknown enchantments, especially those exuding necromantic vibrations.
The black lacquered box is opened to reveal a padded black velvet interior cradling a wand made of a silver/gray metal. It is tipped with an isosceles triangle.
There is also a small, tightly wound scroll. It is written in common. It describes the wand and details that the base end is a cap. Removing this reveals a hollow core of the wand. It also describes the provenance of the wand as being from Landspace. This is described as another of the Crystal Spheres like Realmspace (the Crystal Sphere you reside in) but smaller and difficult to enter and exit.
Starker: “The wand is a Rukh. By placing a significant amount of blood in it, the attuned user can cast a variety of necromantic spells. It is an extremely useful item and probably worth a great deal of money.”
Starker: “The orb is an Oracle Orb of Aqualith. Once a day it can answer a question. The clarity of the answer depends on the sincerity and intent of the question, with deeper, more insightful answers given to those in genuine need. Again, seemingly very valuable.”
Starker: “Doing so will consume the last of my ability to cast my most powerful spells until I can rest. Frankly, I am exhausted. I will try to open the strongbox. There will be a very loud sound. No doubt the proprietor or one of their minions will come to investigate. Pray think of something to tell them.”

cast Knock using L3 slot
Start long rest.
Kragen will cast ritual silence to quiet the noise. Attempting to target the private room door and ensure Starker has room for the verbal aspect of the spell, also providing a sound barrier for the group to talk about the next steps without being spied on.
Kragen casts Silence followed by Starker casting Knock. The strongbox pops open as a result. Inside is a jumbled mess of coins. It appears to be a mix of gold, silver and copper.
"Let us head back to our original lodging establishment. The Diva place."
The Astral Deva is located in Mid-Town. It will take you 20-30 minutes to walk there.
If we can get somewhere secure and private Starker can get to Identifying, if that should be of interest.
Should we return there? Going to be the first place they'll look if the goons talk. We're a fairly recognizable bunch.
Edit-Since we posted at the same time I vote for casting identify.

My thought was a room to have visual privacy. If we need to order food or drinks, so be it.

Knock on the strongbox would also be good.

Start long rest.
Maybe not knock yet as that is so very loud. Perhaps Hoid can try and pick it?
Chadwick suggests using the orb to find out where our missing damsel is.
Starker holds off. Starts long rest.
Hoid has no lock picks.
Plans?
(Contradicting statements above.)
Starker will Knock then Knap unless there are any objections brought forth:

Hoid will practice his counting skills when there is down time.
