"Would a casting of silence be prudent, or is the cat already out of the bag? If we aren't going to silence it I suggest we double time it out of here.'
The mouthy mushroom is nearly 150’ away. Anything investigating the noise is likely to go to the source. If our drift globe hasn’t already alerted enemies to our presence and the sounds of the sonic ‘shroom causes something to come our way, so be it. Our goal is to remove the enemies and having them delivered saves some walking. Just be alert.
“Whatever that is remains in the same place. It moves a little, but not much,” Metanephos responds to Kragen. “I also get a scent. Smells similar to my previous owners, but rotting.”
Starker:”What a good boy Meganephos is! And how clever to speak so clearly. Please do not hesitate to warn us all if you sense smething moving towards us. For now, please go at the heels of Good Friend Chadwick. Therza good doggie!
”I do fear our gathering too closely together, and suggest we spread out and avoid aligning ourselves such that an Ice Storm, Fire Ball, or Lightning Bolt could injure us all simultaneously. I will stay in the middle in case I need to cast fore or aft.”
"I agree with the suggestion to maintain a greater physical distance between ourselves. Let’s widen the file to its maximum extent, avoiding contact with the fungus gardens and staying on the tracks. Furthermore, we should extend the length of the column to create a gap of 10 feet between each individual. Chadwick might want to move forward - I have spells to cast at a distance, and Gneuman can quickly close the gap if necessary. "
The Company dials up their courage and heads off into the field of fungus to investigate the piercing wail coming from that direction. The ground appeared to be dirt, but you find it has a crust of fungus covering the top. Large mushrooms of many varieties grow randomly here. Small clouds of spores are released by the crust as your feet crunch through it. The wailing continues ahead of you.
(( Put your marching order together on the map before you start advancing, please ))
The shrieking continues as you near its source. The large fungi become more numerous and varied as you continue. There seems to be a more dense collection ahead of you.
Starker:”Curious. I wonder how the fungus would react to fire?”
New and different.
"Would a casting of silence be prudent, or is the cat already out of the bag? If we aren't going to silence it I suggest we double time it out of here.'
Starker, fingers atwitch:”And … it would provide illumination …”

Kragen to Starker. "Does Meganephous detect the entity move? "Where is it now?"
“Whatever that is remains in the same place. It moves a little, but not much,” Metanephos responds to Kragen. “I also get a scent. Smells similar to my previous owners, but rotting.”
Directing his response to the Mastiff "Thank you Meganephos, that is very helpful!"
To the group "Based on the description of his scent, i hypothesize it to be Drow Undead.", "Prepare yourselves." Grabs his Holy Symbol.
"Suggest I take a lead position allowing me to censure the dead and shine Tyr's light on the unholy!"

The Shrieking
Could we get a general indication on the map of where the shrieking occurred?
(( Sorry. Red arrow))
Marching arrangement set up assuming movement is generally diagonally down and right.
March on!
"Meganephos, are you picking anything up via your keen senses?"
“Nothing new,” the dog replies.
((Proceed))
Moved the intrepid group, known as The Company, towards the unholy noise.
If others would like more spacing, feel free to spread the group?

Proximity gives more party members a bonus to saves. I’m willing to risk AoE spells hitting more of The Company for the save benefit.
