There they stand. The Company in full splendor. Chadwick at the lead, dour Hoid still fussing with his damaged armor, glib Xymox narrating from within the story, Kragen urging them to glory, Starker thinking his thinky thoughts, Cyrus contemplating further homicide, and Trolkarl seemingly arguing with his sword. Heroes they are, or, victims to come? Only the fates know. For, there they stand…..
Chadwick says back to the group "there's a small room with four large vats of bubbling, foul water. A noxious fog rolls over the edges of each of the vats. The fog is dense and and fills the room. Visibility is limited to 10’. Across the room there's a large wooden door with iron bands that's closed."
He waits to see what the others are going to do before proceeding.
"I do not carry a Canary in my pocket however i might be able to use Tyr's power to assist use here. I have expended my ability to Purify the Air until i am able to fully rest and pray. However, i can use my ritual capabilities to Detect any poisons in that room. If so, i can then take the time to purify each of the vats of putrid Beer. This will take me approximately an hour to do so."
"Our other option is to forge ahead and and deal with any conditions that are present?"
"Detecting poison before we head in there sounds like a wise decision friend.
I'll stay here with Kragen keeping lookout while he casts detect poison, perhaps the rest of you should hang back in the other room so we aren't all so grouped up so tight."
Steps to the entrance of the room with the retched Beer vats, keeping himself just beyond the fog.
Before dropping Detect Magic, scans the room for magical auras/signatures. If he detects nothing, continues on with dropping Detect Magic and ritually casts Detect Poison and Disease.
You see Kragen pull a leaf from his component pouch and begin a 10 minute incantation and prayer ritual.
For the duration, you sense the location of poisons, poisonous or venomous creatures, and magical contagions within 30 feet of yourself. You sense the kind of poison, creature, or contagion in each case.
The spell is blocked by 1 foot of stone, dirt, or wood; 1 inch of metal; or a thin sheet of lead.
Kragen returns to the group and reports new findings
"I have detected that the door on the other side of this room is protected by an abjuration spell. Before i drop my current abiliity to detect magic conditions, i will attempt to Dispell the warding. If i am successful, i should see the aura go away. I will then work to determine if the Fog is foul."
Kragen then returns to the entrance to the rancid Beer storage room and begins an incantation with arms waving to and fro.
Dispel Magic L3 centered on the door or the aura of magic detected.
Choose one creature, object, or magical effect within range. Any ongoing spell of level 3 or lower on the target ends. For each ongoing spell of level 4 or higher on the target, make an ability check using your spellcasting ability (DC 10 plus that spell’s level). On a successful check, the spell ends
”I believe that I have successfully removed the warding on the door, I am not detecting any abjuration magic. Having detect magic active has been useful so I will attempt another approach. I’ll enter the room with Chadwick standing at the threshold. I’ll determine if those fumes are I’ll to our health the old fashioned way. If I succumb to the vapors, Chadwick can get rescue me without endangering others.”
Kragen looks at Chadwick, nods to him and then heads to the room. Entering far enough to be engulfed by the Fog however within 5’ of Chadwick.
The vats are full of the putrid toxic brew that you have encountered elsewhere in the brewery basement. You are unsure of why the fog rolls out of the vats.

Chadwick stands in the hall, just through the formerly secret door. Starker is at the door.
The Company is arrayed behind Starker.
/Plans?
Starker works his way back to 3rd in line, muttering “Very dangerous … you go first.”
There they stand. The Company in full splendor. Chadwick moves down the hall... oh what sights they'll see!
Kragen follows this brave Paladin if Tyr.
Starker:”Allons-y”. Follows the leaders, leads the followers.
….
Chadwick has moved to the end of the hall and visualizes the next room. The rest of you remain in the storeroom with the barrels.
(( Move tokens if you wish to advance. ))

Does anyone have a canary?
Kragen responds to Hoid.

Ritual detect poison is probably worthwhile. We can make a decision after that.
"Detecting poison before we head in there sounds like a wise decision friend.

Kragen nods to Hoid and Chadwick.

Kragen targets the door with his Dispel Magic spell. There is a brief shimmer and the abjuration is gone. No further magic is found in the room.

Kragen stands in the room, unharmed by the foul smelling fog coming off of the liquor in the vats.
Kragen turns to Chadwick.
”Let the others know it is foul smelling, however safe to enter the room. It would be beneficial for Starker to come and examine the door.”
Kragen turns and begins to examine the vats.
