Starker:”Let us put the sword pieces next to each other and try to effectuate a repair. Then the giant below us will likely come to life as a grateful companion and help us destroy the lich! Or, if not, something else very interesting and edifying might happen. Come, friends and colleagues, it will only take a few moments if you put your backs into it!”
Hold, Starker — I’ll lend my strength. But tell me— with that keen mind of yours, is there not some cleverer way to free it? A lever, perhaps… I fear we’ll strain our backs long before we crack the stone otherwise.”
Kragen turns to Chadwick as he appears to be staring off into the cavern. “”Sir Chadwick, you can pine over the Lady Stormrider later, we have work to do, stay focused.”
then brings The Judge to bear helping Starker and Trolkarl gather sword shards

<Starker moves the smallest piece into what looks like the right place next to a larger one to show willing.>
The pieces of the sword are all embedded into the stone. One of the larger pieces appears to be able to be removed according to Xymox's evaluation.
(( Sorry that I was not clear in my description earlier. ))
Starker, lost in the puzzle of it all:”Hmm. Perhaps I can soften the rock with Fire?”
<Casts Firebolt at ground containing the smallest piece, then tries to move piece wearing leather gloves.>
STR check = 10
Starker's noodle arms do not seem to be up to the task. Cyrus pantomimes "putting your back into it" in help to Starker.....
Did firebolt soften the ground at all? Worth doing more?
It seems that was helpful. A stronger arm may find success where Starker’s did not. His contribution to the effort would be the product of his brains.
Trolkarl will aide with Starker’s efforts.
Hold, Starker — I’ll lend my strength. But tell me— with that keen mind of yours, is there not some cleverer way to free it? A lever, perhaps… I fear we’ll strain our backs long before we crack the stone otherwise.”
Starker:”I can soften the earth, and then I think any of you might succeed until we get to the hilt.”
<Fire Bolt ad libitum>
The combination of fire and Trolkarl’s brawn succeeds is pulling a large shard from rock.
Kragen turns to Chadwick as he appears to be staring off into the cavern. “”Sir Chadwick, you can pine over the Lady Stormrider later, we have work to do, stay focused.”
then brings The Judge to bear helping Starker and Trolkarl gather sword shards
”Yartol, keep watch please.”
Yartol nods to Kragen and assumes a watchful pose, swords drawn.
The remaining pieces of the shattered sword are firmly embedded in the rock of the cavern. You have removed one large piece with a razor sharp edge.
