Zeds narrows his eyes and looks to Stirling for a moment before asking "Who is this Zeb?"
"Truth be, I care little for the gods or their machinations - Every worshipper claims they are right yet the gods seem to shit on them all in time. And honor is not a coin I have ever found accepted at any tavern or inn. We have made some gold but we have also all almost died, several times... And the dead have less use for gold than a fish for the desert," Zeds counters thoughtfully. "But... for as long as the profits seem to outweigh the dangers... Or for as long as the fun outweighs the pain... Or for as long as I don't see a better option..."
Zeds rolls his tankard back and forth in his hands for a moment longer then sighs. With a bit of a mental shrug he finally lift the tankard up to the others. "I'm not taking a blood oath or anything but let's see where this goes..."
((No worries... My autocorrect is just starting to get used to it. Not offended or anything so don't worry if it keeps happening, just amused me at the moment to make note of it is all.))

I was going to play into it but did not seem the time
After a round of drinks and a sense of bonding the party rests and set out early in the morning. It takes 2 days to reach Scornubel and then another 2 days to finally reach Elturel your destination.
Elturel, a large, orderly city overlooking the River Chionthar, is filled with merchants, river traders, and farmers’ markets. Its most distinguishing feature is a brilliant magical light that hovers above it, illuminating it day and night.
The city is built on top of a bluff overlooking the river. Torm is the god predominantly worshipped within the city.
The party arrives at the address given to them by Governor Nighhill. Before the party stands the tavern called A Pair of Black Antlers. It seems it is a rather bustling establishment with raucous laughter and people competing in card games and feats of strength like arm wrestling.
It is not hard to spot Leosin Erlanthar as he sits at a corner table nursing a cup of tea. As soon as he sees you, he will wave you over to take a seat. "Have a seat and did you find any more information at the raiders camp."
Zeds orders a drink and is mostly preoccupied trying to watch the card games… but he nods distractedly to Leosin at his question. “Found some eggs. Destroyed them. Killed a bunch of cultists. Most had fled…”
“Anyone mind if I go check out..,” he continues even as he’s getting up to go watch the games.
Krackle would have offered to let the party ride along in his new carrage as they made their way to the new location. Once inside the tavern he would sit next to the person motioning them over....
"I Think that Sterling has some papers or something we found with the bandits... and he also saw a tattoo... We killed a blue dragonborn and a mean lady... they both seemed like they were in charge" The kobold replies as he holds his backpack tightly in his arms. He is sure to keep the top closed so that the dragon egg inside is well hidden.
Leosin looks at the drawing of the tattoo and frowns "That is the symbol of Tiamat. An ill omen indeed. I am glad you were able to leave unscathed. I asked all of you to come here to meet a friend of mine. His name is Onthar Frume a ranked member of the Order of the Gauntlet and a possible ally in our cause. I believe this would be a good time to try to impress him as the tavern is owned by him and is frequent by his men. If you make a good impression to his men here in the tavern then he will most likely be willing to meet all of us together to discuss the next step in stopping the Cult of the Dragon. As to how to impress his men I leave that up to each you. Perhaps a feat of strength, cunning, or oratory skills may do it."
"Ummm... OK! So... we need to impress everyone in the room? I mean I can go dance or something? Or... I can light something on fire maybe? I can show them my nice new carriage I bought?" The kobold suggests while sitting at the table.
If Zeds did hear the bit about impressing those around he only half did so, already leaving the table and trying to pick the best game to join. Does he pick a table that is largely stacked with those with a martial bearing due to what he heard? Or was it because such often think overmuch of their skills at cards thinking they beat all the other suckers in their unit, surely they can beat the pros... But the best card player in a unit still knows nothing about the reality of those who make their living at it. So it is that Zeds sits at a table that looks largely of militia men and the like, fingers itching and eyes hungry at all the gold at stake.
((Zeds is proficient with Playing Cards, has expertise in deception and persuasion, and if proficient in both insight and performance, all of which should come in handy during a poker game or other card game of such a type. And if all else fails, he also has expertise in Slight of Hand... though he will hold off on this at least to start. He generally needs to be in the hole a bit before he starts trying to cheat.)). Not sure what you want me to roll but Zeds is aiming to impress with his cunning :)
Sterling in such a crowded tavern you can't quite find what you are looking for besides a bawdy tale from some of the patrons.
For the card game we will begin with lady luck. Zeds, please roll a 1d20 plus your proficiency bonus as you are skilled with cards. 10 or below you have a lousy hand. 11 -15 your hand is so-so. 16-20 you definitely have one of the best hands you can get.
From there you can try to bluff with deception or sleight of hand to improve your odds. You can also roll insight to try to read the other players.
((Rolling on game log and recording here rather than posting several times or editing a post with rolls in it...))
Initial Hand: 17+2 Prof Bonus for a 19
Insight to try to read the players so as to try to maximize value from such a good hand: 12 - Eh, maybe he has an idea of who he can string along, maybe not...
Bluff (deception) to tried to hide how good my hand is and thus try to get weaker hands to call: 9
((heh, of course my rolls continually just get lower...))
Zeds narrows his eyes and looks to Stirling for a moment before asking "Who is this Zeb?"

Lol autocorrect strikes
Krackle quickly raises a mug to meet the others. "I'm in! " The kobold exclaims with a wide grin.

Stirling sits down and pulls out the sketch of the tattoo.
We found this tattoo on one of the Cultust. Mean anything to you?

The card games are in full swing with every participant wearing their best poker face. Newcomers can take a seat and play if they wish.
Around the tavern you do notice plenty of martial bearing folks that most likely work for Onthar Frume enjoying their day drinking and carousing.
"Ummm... OK! So... we need to impress everyone in the room? I mean I can go dance or something? Or... I can light something on fire maybe? I can show them my nice new carriage I bought?" The kobold suggests while sitting at the table.
Stirling sits back and looks around. He uses his ability to read lips (observant trait) to see if there is a conversion he could join
Perception/onsite (same bonus not sure which you would want) 11
He is looking for the following in order of priority.
any signs of followers of Lathander.
Anyone talking about the raids or unusual activity
Anyone boasting about some great feat in battle
Ooc: lame but makes since. This is the second time Sterling's been in a tavern and well the first time didn't end so well.
