Krackles eyes would dart upward with the new lightning strike while tucking his tail between his legs. "lets... just go see the governor... and see what he has to say.." The kobold would look off into the distance before looking back to the group. "If nothing else maybe he knows of a secret tunnel out of here... where we can all get to somewhere safe for now..."
Taking the pouch Zeds tosses it up and down for a moment in his hand and then gives Morahn a smile and a wink. "You seem like a totally reasonable Dwarf who would never blame a man for negotiating the best deal possible..."
Tucking the pouch away he turns to the others. "Yes, the governor it is. Even if we can't get a second payer for our adventures then perhaps he'll at least have better information? Worth a shot anyway," Zeds says and is ready to depart...
The party enters the study and you see the right side of Nighhill’s face and head are bandaged, his right arm hangs in a sling, and his armor is stained with his own blood. He received these wounds during the early stages of the attack and hasn’t spared the time for more than cursory first aid.
Next to him a dwarf is heavy armor. Both of them are scrutinizing the map of Greenest. They stop as the party enters. "Ah just the people I need to see. I have already heard of your heroics, and I thank you. I am Tarbaw Nighhill the governor of Greenest and this fine dwarf is the Castellan Escobert the Red. I am in need of capable people. I ask of you to help save Greenest and its citizens. Right now, there are many who are trapped inside the Temple of Chauntea. I plan to send the guards out as a distraction and to engage the enemy in hope all 4 of you can get into the Temple and escort the townsfolk back to the keep. I know you wonder how this can be done. Well, this keep was built with a secret tunnel that leads to the southeastern part of the hill. Though no one has used that tunnel in centuries. Will you please help us? I do not think I could pull off this plan with just my guards and the Castellan must lead the men in my place as I am too injured to fight' says Governor Nighhill. He then places an old key on the table and looks at each of you to gauge your reactions.
(With a 20 passive Perception can Stirling tell at a glance if the governors wounds life threatening? Rolled an 18 for medicine if needed)
ive been down unto the undercroft a few times since I've arrived. I don't remember any doors? Where does this tunnel connect to the temple? Are you sure it's not blocked.
"A secret tunnel! I knew it!" The kobold would exclaim. "I am good at tunnels... because I am small...' He would kind of trail off as his smile turned to a frown. "How big are the tunnels? big enough for a horse? or a giant lizard horse maybe?"he would ask as he thinks about Krackle Jr.
“I’ll do it. But we need time to bandaged our own wound and rest first, lest we die and be of no use.”
Ironthar shows his numerous stab wounds.
”And the temple would be the last place we go to tonight. If we’re still alive we need to recuperate until morning. You can’t have your best men overexerted:”
"This tunnel, I assume it does not go all the way to the temple?" Zeds asks. "Or why would you even need us? Perhaps as Ironthar there sits and takes himself a rest you could show us on the map where it does let out, the way to the temple from there, and what you know of where the enemy is between the two?"
Zeds turns to Krackle and gives him a small smile. "Maybe we leave Junior here for now? The guards here were scared enough when we arrived, I would think those holed up at the temple are even more on edge."
((My understanding is the tunnel goes out of the keep into some quiet (hopefully) spot outside from whence we would try to get to the temple, We then save the people, bring them back to the tunnel, push them in and lock the door behind us? So depending if Big Lizard fits through the tunnel, we could use it and the mask to maybe get from tunnel to temple... But we'd have to be careful temple people don't see us with them or they would think we're just more attackers? Once we save them and are escaping with them, we could maybe use again and tell any we meet we are moving hostages or something? Could work... may be worth a try if tunnel big enough.))
"I am afraid the tunnel is not big enough for horses or giant lizards." Governer Nighhill points to the map and says this is where the tunnel exit is. On the map the exit is number 2 and the temple is number 3.
"I know there will be 1 patrol of those bastards between the tunnel exit and the temple. The Temple itself most likely has a sizeable host of sell swords pounding on its doors. I hope the temple doors can hold until you can get there. The Temple of Chauntea has 2 doors the main front and the smaller back door. The sell swords are most likely in the front of temple. The guards and the Castellan will head out the front with the hope that they can draw the attention of the patrol. The rest will be in your hands. I know you need rest, and I am willing to offer you the time, but I worry about the people trapped in the temple."
Sterling you can tell the governor is very injured and blood is seeping through the bandages. It was also sloppily applied as the governor refuses to rest.
Sir you need to sit down so I can reapply your bandages. Before you protest you'll pass out from blood loss before long. Then you'll be unable to lead your people.
Stirling sits the man down and applies fresh bandages to his wounds. He does not have the supplies to do much more.
Thus will slow the process but it won't prevent to blood list completely. He then hands his health potion over to the governor. Drink this it should get you through the night. I won't take no for an answer right now your leadership is the only thing keeping wide spread panic from sweeping through this place.
Stirling really is not sure if that's true but the old paladin stories he grew up on made it seem like once a leader goes down all is lost.
"These potions should be saved for the townsfolk, but what you say makes sense" Tarbaw Nighhill reluctantly drinks the potion which brings color back into his cheeks and the blood loss has stopped though his broken arm is now on the mend he is still too weak for the governor to join the fray. "You can get another potion from the merchant, I know how precious these potions are"
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
"Can someone please take care of Krackle Jr while we are gone?" Krackle would ask looking back towards where he stabled the creature. "He is a hungry boy and likes face rubs" the kobold would then look back towards his companions. "I think we should leave fast if we want to get to those people before the bad men do.."
Stirling is taken aback for a second by Zeb's remarks.
It would be yes. Mmmm maybe Waukeen has is showing you favor?
Stirling finches at the lighting strike. I think this conversation is wasting time. We should press if your joining us.

“I always say Morahn’s the man who pays.” He says to his companion.
”I’ll do whatever I can, but we still need rest after all the fighting to get here.” He added.
Ironthar takes the potion and tucked it on his belt.
”Let’s ask Governor Nighthill, perhaps he had more info than Morahn, it’s his town anyway.”
“You stay safe old man.” He tips his nonexistent hat to the dwarven merchant.
Taking the pouch Zeds tosses it up and down for a moment in his hand and then gives Morahn a smile and a wink. "You seem like a totally reasonable Dwarf who would never blame a man for negotiating the best deal possible..."

We have Jr and a mask with those could we not simply pose as a bandit till we are safely in the tunnel?

(The party can take a short rest then I need someone to roll a d20. 10 or above the temple doors holds. Below 10 the temple is breached.)
"I have too much to do" says the Governor then he suddenly grips the table to steady himself "Damn it, alright do what you can and thank you"
(Rolled a 5 on medicine...)
