Absent his shield spells, and slowed by the poison, Serge is unable to parry the relentless attacks from WV6. First its teeth, and then its stinger penetrate his guard, his armor, and his person. For a moment, he holds his ground... but then the new surge of poison kicks in.
His eyes roll back in his head and he collapses to the ground, unconscious.

Ixsas is able to make it into the carriage, but Krackle is in the way.
(Ixsas's earlier plan of offering food has merit as the wyvern variants seems more interested in food)
As Ixsas runs into Krackle at the carriage, he asks, "Where's Krackle Junior's feed?"
(Maybe Ixsas already knows where it is after 11 days on the road together. If not, hopefully Krackle tells him. We don't want Serge to become the easiest thing for the WVs to eat!)
Krackle manages to roll away from the attacking wyvern and escapes the grapple. He turns to look at Ixsas and points up towards the roof of the carriage. there is a narrow ladder on the outside of the carriage that grants access to the roof where the sacks of feed are secured.
having been distracted by the enemy he was fighting, he just now notices serge wounded on the battlefield. The kobold disengages from creature he is fighting and races towards Serge.
there is a narrow ladder on the outside of the carriage that grants access to the roof where the sacks of feed are secured.
Round 6: Ixsas
Ixsas moves past Krackle and, trusting to Kossuth's protection, climbs the ladder to the top of the carriage. Squatting there, he puts down his shield and gets out 1 day of Krackle Jr's feed (10 lbs). Ixsas makes a loud ululation, waving the sack of feed in the air over his head to attract the attention of the surviving Wyverns. Then he heaves the feed directly toward the center of the camp as far as he can.
Movement: Up to 30' to pass Krackle and climb up the ladder to the top of the carriage. Action: Heave 1 day of Krackle Jr's food toward the center of the camp. Athletics? 6 Bonus Action: None Free Action: Item interaction - setting down his shield so that he can use two hands with the feed. Reaction: The first time it looks like one of the creatures is going to hit Ixsas, he'll use Warding Flare to impose disadvantage on the attack.
Concentration: Faerie Fire round 6 of 10. (Of course, it's now just creating a green highlight on the dead body of WV3 next to Serge.)
Round 2 of 10 (no concentration required) for Sanctuary on himself.
Zeds, seeing Serge fall (again!) rushes over to the fallen soldier and attacks the lizardbird that felled him... (I believe Serge is the crossed swords? So Zeds moves 1 sq NW and then 2 west. He does leave himself open to an opportunity attack from WV he's been fighting.)
Shortsword vs WV attacking Serge: 23 to hit for 10piercing damage and 6 sneak attack damage... BA Shortsword vs WV: Nat 20 for 28to hit and 10 piercing damage...
((I am not sure which WV is which so not sure if one attacking Serge is the one that was almost dead or not... But I put Sneak Attack on the first hit and don't want to not do that just 'cause I know or suspect due to OOC info that it doesn't need the extra to die. IF the WV attacking Serge does die from the first attack, Zeds would then move one square back East to re-engage with WV5 he had been battling with and attack it with his Bonus Action attack. If WV isn't dead after first attack but is dead after second, Zeds still re-engages with WV5 to try to keep it from going after his fallen ally...))
The surviving wyvern variants swarm the fallen feed like a large flock of pigeons. They ignore the rest of the party. Except for WV 5 who takes a swipe at Zeds but then it heads over to the fallen feed. Once have eaten they leave taking their dead with them. Perhaps to eat for a midnight snack.
Zeds is shocked to be able to successfully kill off the one standing above Serge despite taking the hit but doesn't rest on his laurels... Once Serge is out of immediate danger and the other birds seem distracted by free meat, Zeds does what he can to stabilize Serge so he doesn't slip off for good.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Ixsas drops the feed and then waits on top of the carriage for a moment, ready to heal his friends or to attack the creatures again if this ploy doesn't work. When the creatures finally fly away, he sighs thankfully. He has a passion for striking down the enemies of Kossuth, such as the undead, but he feels no particular need to rid the wilderness of every dangerous creature.
While the creatures swarm to the food, Ixsas looks back to his friends. He sees Zeds stabilize Serge and Krackle heal him. Once the creatures fly away, Ixsas finally gets down from the carriage and says, "Let's first make sure that everyone else is OK and that nothing else happened during the chaos of that attack. Then come gather close to me with any other injured. I will pray for Kossuth's healing flame."
Ixsas spends 10 minutes to cast spell (LVL 2 slot) Prayer of Healing: 15 (healing) for himself, the 3 other party members, and up to 2 others if any of the other caravanners are hurt. At the end of 10 minutes, everyone feels a warmth inside that quickly grows to a burning pain and spreads through their limbs and then dissipates. When the pain subsides, they have been healed (as above).
With Zeds timely medical intervention, Serge's brush with death passes. Then, with the healing provided by Krackle and Ixsas, he stirs.
Pulling himself up into a sitting position, he is quiet for a long while. "That hurt," he says at last, pushing the rest of the way up onto his feet. The worst of his wounds have healed, but the venom is still in his blood.
"I must be getting sloppy. I wrote off the damage that troll did to me as... well, trolls are supposed to be a nightmare to face. But this is two battles now. I haven't taken a beating like this since I was still training with a shield."
"How did you fend them off? I don't see any corpses... though I would swear to Helm I killed one before I was overwhelmed."

"Yes, Serge, you did kill one," Ixsas says. "And you valiantly protected my flank. Thank you." He touches his forehead with his fingers and then gestures toward Serge with the back of his hand in some sort of foreign salute. He also praises the way Serge pulled several of them together so that Ixsas could "show them the power of Kossuth's fire."
"We did not fend them off. They were hungry beasts, and we simply fed them," Ixsas points toward the feed strapped to the top of Krackle's carriage. He shrugs and says, "I guess we proved to be harder prey than they expected, so they were happy to grab the food and fly away. They also carried off the two that you and Zeds killed, though I suspect that was out of hunger and not out of respect for their dead.""
By way of explanation, Ixsas says, "Praise Kossuth, whose Light reveals all! It was his flash of insight that revealed the creatures' motivation when I saw one abandon the fight to go for the leftovers from our dinner."
Once Ixsas is absolutely sure that the creatures are not coming back, he offers to use Aura of Vitality to ensure that everyone all of Zeds' and the others' wounds are healed before everyone goes back to sleep. With unbroken concentration, Ixsas can use that spell to provide 10 rounds of healing:
Once Ixsas is absolutely sure that the creatures are not coming back,
(OOC: I should have also said that I'm also assuming that the 1-minute fight with the wyvern variants and a the Prayer of Healing afterward don't prevent them from getting a Long Rest. If it will, then Ixsas would instead save his 3rd level spell slot in case he needs it the next day.)

After Ixsas joined the caravan, he privately wondered how hungry the Giant Lizard would have to get before it started attacking the other animals or the other caravanners. He says, "Yes, good idea! How many days of feed do you have left?" He thought that he saw quite a bit of feed left on the carriage, but he figured that he should ask. "Based on what Faelsin said yesterday, we should reach the rest stop at Carnath House after just two more days. Hopefully, you can buy some feed there before we move on."
Now that the 'excitement' of the fight is over, Ixsas is tired and ready to go back to sleep until its time for his early morning watch shift. He hopes that the flying beasts have had their fill, but there are other dangers in the wilderness, and Ixsas will be on alert until dawn, when the Flame of Kossuth banishes the darkness and reveals the countryside once again.
(( OOC: Ixsas will be eager to talk with the rest of the party about the Dragon Cult and the days during breakfast and the next day's march north. ))
