"Finally, " Nisha exclaims softly when they eventually make it to the Watchmaster's office, away from the chill and wetness of the night and from any invisible people, guards and crazy engineers. The half-elf impatiently waited at a safe distance for the rest of the group to deliver the captured guy to the guards, since she wasn't exactly prepared with some orderly documents at the time. Better not risking the authorities finding out how real her citizenship documents exactly are...
The rogue takes one of the available seats and pulls down her hood, revealing a tired and somewhat annoyed expression on the face underneath. There have been too many close ones tonight - first their mission almost got revealed in the brothel, then the abominations in the bookstore, followed by the thugs at the manse, not to mention an actual invisible dude and the clearly unhinged woman. "What a night..."
Since Nathaniel has been so good as to update the boss on the details, Nisha just stares blankly ahead. When the tiefling finishes with his report, she adds in a slow and lazy manner, her golden eyes fixated on the half-eaten sandwich on the desk in front of her. "Did you know Huron Stahlmast is completely nuts? She looked and sounded very... troubled."
Of course, Nisha conveniently doesn't mention how she threatened the dwarven woman with a dagger, but what difference would such a tiny detail make anyway...
Kaelen just wonders into the man's office taking a seat again on the couch as when they all first met. He decides to keep quiet until his companions, just merely pointing at the sandwich "You gonna finish that? Kind of hungry after all this." He just stares at the sandwich as Nathaniel recounts the story of what happened.
"Judicator Augustine and people twisted by some unknown magic or technology. This will require a delicate touch and I need to send someone to officially check in on Huron as she seems unstable. Now why would the Judicator do this, and does she not know it would bring ruin to everyone living in Hupperdook? What has happed to her to make her so uncaring of the lives of innocents?" He then looks to Kaelen "Ah go head and finish off the sandwich. I hope you like bacon."
Bram then paces back and forth mulling over everything the party discovered. "There is that strange thread of the so called destroyed assassin guild." He then opens his filing cabinet, and it takes a few minutes, but he does not find what he is looking for. "Damn I was cleaning out some old files and must have either left it at home or with Nima" There is a hint of a roguish grin right after he said Nima. He then looks at everyone and notices each of you are tired and wounded "Everyone go ahead and head home, but please come back to my office tomorrow. Lets say 9:00 AM. That should give all of you enough time to rest and at least eat breakfast." He unlocks a desk drawer and takes out a pouch filled with the clink of gold coins. "I know I mentioned no reward besides our continued peace, but I think all of you deserve this."
Once ready to leave everyone can describe what their home in Hupperdook looks like as they head home.
For a place of worship there is the Prayer Foundry in the Lower Tier.
A majestic temple to Moradin the All-Hammer, this mighty octagonal structure resembles a massive anvil atop an iron shrine. Within, holy symbols and prayer coins are pressed and forged, while blacksmiths and tinkerers come to have their plans and creations blessed.
Then there are the much simpler shrines to the other sanctioned gods who are less majestic, but still garner worshipers in Hupperdook.
For those who resides in a tavern there is the Sootswallow Lodge
The largest (and one of the only) taverns operating in the Lower Tier, the Sootswallow Lodge caters to the builders and makers of the Ironlot during work hours, then plays home to the sketchier elements of Hupperdook by night. A fence named Udoth who keeps a room here in the evenings is always in the market for adventuring goods, which he buys for 75 percent of their value rather than 50 percent.
Laine thanks Bram for the coin, gives him a polite nod, and leaves.
He makes his way back to the Sootswallow. His room there holds no special decorations or anything out of the ordinary. The space is tidy, sparse, and if someone came in to look through his things or the like one would think this room isn't being rented at all.
He eats dinner, tidies himself up, and goes to bed. Although tired he spends some time staring at the ceiling, reliving the day in his head. The plot is bigger than they thought. He will have to stay for longer. He doesn't mind this.
He wakes early out of habit, an internal clock seared into him through routine. He goes downstairs, eats breakfast, and then departs the Sootswallow Lodge. He looks for a shop that may sell incense. After procuring incense, or not, he will make his way back to Bram's office.
Nathaniel accpts the reward with a pleased smile. Apparently there was some profit at least in being a hero of the city. Seeing Mr. Laine leave, the pale tiefling gets up and gives him and nod of acknowledgement over a night of good performance, the turning to the others. "Anyone for a drink at some quiet place before turning in?" He asks, mostly out of politeness perhaps, then turning to the half-elf. "Anywhere I can drop you off?"He asks with a playful smile, moving his bloodred bat-like wings slightly.
Eventually the pale tiefling would return to his hideout, leaning back in his comfortable bed, pondering the night's events and what the future would hold for a simple carouser over a bottle of wine, falling asleep still fully dressed with an empty wine glass still in his pale hand. His morning call would be by his guardian angel Ezekiel who would pepper his frail and barely woke mind with admonitions, as per usual, during his morning routines, changing clothes and washing up before heading out to a small nearby café for a quiet breakfast, then reconvening with the others at the Watchmaster's office, fashionably late. ;-)
Nisha vaguely listens to Bram's rambling, until the delightful, melodic clinking of coins captures her attention and the rogue quickly focuses on the watchmaster again. The sight of the pouch brimming with wealth, and later on, once she gets a hold of it, the weight of the gold in her hands immediately improve her mood significantly, cause her eyes to glimmer just as much as the shining coins she holds, and distract her so much, that she doesn't even register what she is saying in response to Nathaniel's question. "Oh yes, that Sootswallow tavern is just where I'm headed and they do provide drinks, which certainly is a good idea after almost getting killed multiple times in one night, and I am so getting one to celebrate this rewarding experience, " Nisha rumbles absent-mindedly as she makes sure that the coin is indeed golden and real.
Suddenly, she realises that perhaps she's revealed too much about herself and for a moment, her impulse is to make up some lie. But as she puts the coin pouch away and glances up at the tiefling, she changes her mind, dismissing the urge to cover up her unintended disclosure.

"Well-deserved drinks at the Sootswallow tavern to celebrate we are all still alive then?" The pale tiefling says with pleased smile, looking at Kaelen and Gavyn.
Gavyn stands in his friend's office and sees his notebook lying splayed on the floor. He hadn't realized he had dropped it before the crazy night began. The tortle nurses the cut on his arm as he recalls scrambling to take notes at the beginning of his first "mission". Little did he know what lay ahead of him.
He snaps out of his reverie and looks at Bram as his friend extends a pouch of coin to him. Taking it Gavyn says, "You up for a pint?"
Whether or not he and Bram find the time for a quiet drink together, the tortle ends up at his modest little apartment. It is filled with maps and books about famous battles and generals. His prized possession is a painting of a smoke-filled battlefield in the hours after the battle at Riverdam, a human settlement with devastating losses on both sides.
Gavyn falls into bed, sleeping almost instantly. Early the next morning, he sets out to obtain a potion of healing (50 gp). The rest of his coin he keeps for a future time.
Kaelen just takes the sandwhich and begins eating it. As people discuss where they plan to head he smiles and nods "A drink sounds nice." he says looking at his companions.
"Well, off to the Sootswallow tavern then."The pale tiefling says with slight impatience, motioning for the others to come along, eager to get a stiff drink and a nice bloody steak, making light and pleasant conversation with the others on their way there.
As they claim a table in the Sootswallow tavern, Nisha directs her attention to the innkeeper with a curt nod. "A carafe of wine for the table," she states, her request decisive and unyielding. She doesn't pause to consider whether her companions share her taste for wine; it's simply her choice, but thats Nisha for you. Never too nice even in her nicest moments.
"Well, that was quite the night, wouldn't you agree? Escaping near brushes with death was not what I was expecting us to do," the half-elf would remark with a wry glance towards Nathaniel and Kaelen. Despite her grumpy and sarcastic attitude, she can't really deny that there was something exciting about all the risky situations they found themselves in and there is a hint of it in her voice.
The barkeep quickly brings over a carafe of wine to Nisha's table. The Sootswallow Lodge is rather packed with patrons tonight. Nisha and Nathaniel would know of Udoth the fence in his second-floor bedroom who is willing to buy and sell items or to fence items for the more thievish clients.
The pale tiefling would follow the half-elf to the table, taking a seat, smiling approvingly at the ordering of the carafe of wine. The house wine of the Sootswallow Lodge was actually quite decent in his opinion. "I'll be honest, I had no idea what to expect of tonight, but being in the service of the city certainly turned out to be far more exciting than it sounded." He says with an amused smile. "And this would only be the beginning it seems considering the Watchmaster expects us all back at dawn." He adds with a small chuckle. "Who would have thought doing good deeds would turn out quite so entertaining, and quite so profitable." He says, glancing discreetly down at the half-elf's backpack and then giving her a discreet knowing smile.
As the wine arrives Nathaniel starts to pour glasses for the half-elf, the minotaur and then himself while ordering a nice bloody steak from the kitchen. "So, as it seems we will be working together for a while, how do you know the Watchmaster?"He asks, looking between the half-elf and the minotaur. "For my part he sort of got me out of a pickle and I clearly owe him for that." He adds, going first to hopefully ease the half-elf in particular.
Nisha spares a quick glance around, assessing their surroundings, curious to see if their diverse trio has attracted any unwanted attention. Her brief tenure in Hupperdook has taught her to anticipate trouble from the least expected corners. Tonight's event serve as just another testament to the city's unpredictability.
Turning her attention to Nathaniel, she allows a ghost of a smile to grace her lips, acknowledging his remarks with a silent amusement. She accepts the poured glass of wine with a nod of thanks, indulging in a few measured sips before responding.
"The Watchmaster, ever the paragon of nobility," she starts, her voice holding a touch of dry humour as if there is some joke only she knows. "Our paths crossed due to the whims of... my guardian." Her tone suggests there is more to the story, details that she intentionally conceals. "Wouldn't have found myself in his company if not for a rather unfortunate failed business venture," she adds, her eyes momentarily meeting Nathaniel's before scanning the tavern discreetly once more.
Glancing at her companions, she attempts to gauge their comprehension before continuing, her tone now more relaxed. "But as long as the gold keeps flowing, I suppose I can't complain too much about the work he tosses our way." she muses, a brief, almost carefree chuckle escaping her lips.
The half-elf remembers then the small figurine they found in Huron's house and returns the discreet knowing smile to the tiefling. She looks at Kaelen with expectance to hear what his involvement in the whole thing might be, but her mind is a bit preoccupied with thinking whether that guy Udoth would have interest in buying the figurine, a potential avenue for additional profit. But yet again, she reminds herself that they didn't exactly have time to actually discern what the figure is at all, but this is not the moment to do so, seeing how packed the place is tonight.

Kaelen find his seat with his party as he orders a tankard of ale listening to them all chat. As Nathaniel asks his question Kaelen just smiles “I have respect for the watch master from days of old. He comes off a certain way, but he does love this city and its residents so I’m always willing to help.” He stays with his new companions until the last one leaves.
Asthe night and drinks flow Kaelen will eventually retire to a room at the inn not wanting to walk home for the night tired from the days proceedings.
The pale tiefling notes with some amusement that neither the mysterious half-elf nor the gentle minotaur are particularly forthcoming about themselves, still he would hopefully get to know them better in time, some level of trust would likely be useful when difficult choices would have to be made and the half-elf in particular seemed quite guarded about herself. "Ah. yes, unfortunate failed business ventures, I admit I've had my fair share of those too, but I've come to find they make the best stories."He says with an amused smile. "So you have a guardian Ms. Nasha? And what kind of guardian lets their protegee risk her life like you have tonight one might wonder?" He continues with playful smile, curiosly studying the half-elf for her reactions.
As his steak arrives some of his attention is diverted to enjoy it while still effortlessly continuing a more light and pleasant conversation with the minotaur and the half-elf, pausing only to order another carafe of wine. After finishing his bloody steak, the bastard noble starts sharing fairly entertaining stories about prominent persons of the city visiting the Blushing Bordello and revealing themselves to be less than upstanding.
As the minotaur eventually leaves for his room the pale winged tiefling leans in to speak quietly and discreetly to the half-elf. "You might already know there is someone upstairs that might be interested in the contents of your backpack Ms. Nasha. Allow me to escort you there, I might be able to procure a fair price for what you have so diligently collected this evening." He offers with a friendly smile.
