"Ismark said they didn't have food. I've got some rations, but maybe between the three of us we could scrounge up something edible to help these two out." He suggested to the other two with him.
Anthony slowly turned to look at Jared. "No. Like hunting. You're a hunter right? Why would you think I was suggesting we go beat up random people and take their food?" Anthony wasn't the most stand-up guy but really?
"Well, if we wait he will have the chance to get away." she says to her friends, but then to the crow, "Would you be able to fly up and make sure there isn't an ambush waiting for us?" and Kora takes off after the footprints towards the foothills.
Aoufie hurries along following Kora as he does not plan to leave her to face Father Donovan alone. "I am right behind you sister. Let us see what Father Donovan is up to"
As the group inside the house ponders what to do for food, they remember that across from the tavern is a general store. Between the two establishments, they’re sure they can scrounge something up to eat.
The crows nod at Kora’s words, and then they take to the air to scout out the terrain ahead. You begin to trudge across the muddy meadows in pursuit of the renegade Father Donovan, justice spurring you onwards.

"Right. Sorry." The big man scrubs his hair. "I'm too on edge. It cost me everything I had for supplies and passage to Neverwinter. The best I can offer is ration gruel."
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
The trio sets out amongst the tall grasses which are stooped over under the weight of the moisture falling from the gray masses of clouds overhead. The crows circle overhead, calling out to one another occasionally. A distant rumble of thunder occasionally punctuates the monotony of raindrops pattering around you.
The man’s tracks you are following lead you over a small crest of a gentle hill, and then the tracks descend downwards towards a small copse of trees nestled between the base of two hills. You follow the tracks downwards, entering the miniature forest.
The leaves overhead provide some protection against the rain, giving you a slight respite from the wetness. The sound of raindrops striking leaves creates a relaxing sort of ambiance. You take a few more steps forward. Kora, taking the lead, feels a slight resistance on her boot as he tries to take a step. Looking down, she barely sees a a thin, almost translucent string stretched between two trees. Before she can react, you all her several sounds of strings snapping and whirling sounds coming from the dark trees about you as several wickedly jagged blades fly towards you!
Kora, Aoufie, and Akyan must make a DC 15 dexterity saving throw. On a failed save, you take 6 slashing damage plus 18 necrotic damage. If the target is a creature, it suffers a lingering wound that causes it to take 9 necrotic damage at the start of each of its turns. The wound ends if the target regains hit points or if a creature uses an action to stanch the wound, which requires a successful DC 15 Wisdom (Medicine) check. You take no damage on a successful save.
Kora just manages to avoid the blades (lucky for the adv, got 15 for the DEX save)
She looks around and sees Aoufie hurting badly, "Are you alright? Do you need anything? I would like to move on if you can... I feel we're close." She looks to Akyan to see how he's fairing as well.
At the slight noise, Akyan's reflexes take over and he jumps sideways evading the blades almost before he even sees them. Then he looks to his siblings just as Kora asks if everyone is alright. "I'm fine."He notes that Kora is alright, and nods when Aoufie heals himself. "I wasn't expecting traps. This tells me he anticipated being followed. Stay alert, there are likely more to come...maybe even an ambush." He pauses for a moment, contemplating whether or not he should offer to take the lead. He is fairly confident in his ability to locate traps, but tracking is not his strong suite, at least not in a forest. Once the others are ready, he reluctantly takes up rearguard again. He'd much rather be the first to encounter the danger, but for this task, Kora should take the lead.
Once everyone starts moving again, Akyan keeps a lookout for signs of traps (as best he can from the back) or anyone following them. Perception: 22
"Do you think the others found Father Donovan yet?"
Jared shrugs. "They are experienced and can handle most things that come their way." he says between chewing bits of dried meat, responding to Anthony's question. "Mum saw to that for all of us."
Seeing that everyone seems to be alright, Kora continues her path, but a little slower now due to the trap. Keeping close with her brothers, she keeps going.
"Ismark said they didn't have food. I've got some rations, but maybe between the three of us we could scrounge up something edible to help these two out." He suggested to the other two with him.
"Let's just eat our own rations and not steal from those who don't have anything to eat." Jared says to Anthony, half grinning.
Anthony slowly turned to look at Jared. "No. Like hunting. You're a hunter right? Why would you think I was suggesting we go beat up random people and take their food?" Anthony wasn't the most stand-up guy but really?

Zathon just chuckles. "He was joking, Anthony."

"Probably." Shaking the worry, Anthony took Jared's lead and settled down for some chill time.
