While most of the group hangs back, unwilling to venture into the thorny valley. Mizu and Mina start making their way towards the pool. This involves delicately maneuvering through, over, or around many thorny masses and large spider webs. (It looks like it had once been a rose garden of sorts, with rose hedges forming a maze pattern that has now become overgrown.)
Mizu, who is clearly in a hurry ends up brushing a few of these spider webs as he passes by. As he does this, a Giant spider darts out and attempts to Bite him.

Kulogall halfway closes his eyes and imagines crossing the distance, in a heartbeat his form dissolves in a silvery mist. You see him 30 feet closer to the pool, but just as he’s about to land, a sudden gust of air surrounds him and lifts him 10 feet up higher in the air, he descends gently to the ground, turning and looking for any attackers.
Action : Casts misty step to get closer without drawing attacks. As he is landing, this triggers Tempestuous magic as a Storm Sorceror, blowing him up 10 feet in height and closer yet to the area.

As a bonus action, you can cause gusts of air to surround you before or after you cast a spell of 1st level or higher that allows you to fly up to 10 ft. without provoking opportunity attacks.
Movement : If clear of the webs, he will look again and move closer if away from the webs.

Mizu also lands a solid hit on the spider. He turns to continue on just as Leeta's spear flies over piercing strait through the spider's abdomen and sticks there. This seems to make it panic as it is in pain and is now destroying it's own home due to the spear sticking out of it's back. Now angry. It focuses on the small being that has now charged towards it.

As the mini monk effectively challenges the giant spider to a duel, Kullogal teleports himself nearly all the way across the thorny mess. After doing this, he flies closer still and lands gracefully without touching any webs. With only ten more feet to go he easily enters the circular area clear of roses. Before him is the pool of water, and he can now make out what the object above the pool is.
The object hanging above the pool appears to be an ornamental brass key. It’s about the size of a child’s hand and has been ornately shaped with twisting vines and a rose at the top. It hangs about six feet above the water, and 20ft away from the bank. The pool is about 6ft deep at the center.
Kullogal, you also notice that there are large uniform stones creating a circle around the pool and the ruined stone arches. Each of them are along the edge of the rose hedges you just navigated through. If you look closer they appear to have carvings on them.
(@ Mizu, I think I missed that earlier as well. Yes she can.)
Soma is able to fly over to the key, and grab it with her talons. The spider's web holding the key snaps easily under her weight.
Mina also proceeds through the thorns, carefully avoiding contact with any webs.
Despite his heavy armor, Rixian also succeeds in avoiding the webs, however as he walks forward burning anything in his path, he hears a few screeches from inside the webs before seeing several spiders retreating. They don't seem to like the bright flames.
Rowarin however, stumbles over a few vines and ends up brushing some of the webs. However, luckily for him, he's stayed behind Rixian who has managed to scare off most of the spiders in their path. However, seeing Leeta dealing with the spider that had attacked Mizu, he attempts to help her out. His attack effectively ends it's life. (Leeta is now clear of spiders for now.)
So right now, Kullogal is right up next to the pool. The rest of you are about 35ft away from clearing the sea of thorns. Mizu is currently in front, next is Leeta, then Mina with Rixian just ahead of Rowarin. Other than Kullogal, who is clear of the webs now. Those of you ahead of Rixian will need to make 2 more Acrobatics checks (DC 12) to clear the vines. Unless you wait for Rixian to just flush out the rest of the spiders with his flames.
"Hey! You big fat spider, leave Mizu alo...!" - Leeta begins to say. But then the angry arachnid shifts its focus from the water genasi to herself and the mini monk realizes that, as long as the spear is stuck in the insect's body, she is going to have to hit it with her bare hands. YUCK! Nimbly dodging the spider's attack, the halfling makes a disgusted face as she anticipates what is definitely going to be the one of the creepiest things she's ever punched, but luckily Rowarin's magical darts finish off the creature just before it happens. "...Gods, I hate spiders ..." , the party can hear her mutter.
I think this GIF summarizes pretty well how Leeta would feel if she had to punch a giant spider. x'D
Leeta then recovers her spear, shakes it in a single strong movement to rid it of the blackish spiderish goo covering it, and turns to Mizu. "Hey, are you okay? You are advancing a little bit too quickly. Why don't we wait until Rixian burns these vines away, and then we can all advance together more easily?"
She'll put a hand on her friend's arm, hoping this gentle gesture will make him stop until the paladin has had enough time to burn the vines and scare the rest of spiders away before any of them needs to move again.
Whatever spider has unnerved the curse inside Rixi must have left before he could even damage it; At the same time Leeta lands her attack, Rixi swings flame ignited polearm upwards but just falls short of his target unlike her. And then she curses about having to punch spiders. Yeah. He feels her. And so would Tenebris too, considering that it would remind him of the time he slayed Lolth all the same. Right now though, he needs to focus on getting out of here...
Getting increasingly frustrated that the webs are slowing him down, Rixi at this point just gives up and slashes at the webs with his flaming glaive; Everytime he gets caught again by a stupid web, he will instantly free himself. In fact... since this entire path is covered in webs... he may as well just clear the path entirely before the giant one comes back... and so he does.

Kulogall stands closer to the pool, looking at the carvings, trying to make them out. ? Runes? He looks up to see what is overhead. If necessary, he uses shape water cast a couple of times to make blocks of ice stacked such that it is form of a staircase. He calls out behind him “Quit messing around with those spiders and get over here…”
Mizu had already started off towards the pool of water before Leeta managed to catch up to him, however, her voice is enough to make him look back as Soma flies forward and snatches the key off the hanging thread.
"Im... fine,"he says in an undertone, even though he clearly isn't. "Rixian can clear the way for everyone else. I'm going to catch up with Kullogal." As he says this, he stows one saber and Soma drops the key in his free hand. When the key plops onto his palm, he stops and looks at it for a moment before looking up at Leeta. He hesitates, taking one step forward before sighing. "Fine, I'll wait." He clenches his fist around the key, and his other around the hilt of his saber.
When Kullogal calls out he turns his attention to the triton and blinks. However, he doesn't have an answer so he instead looks back at the key in his hand and waits for Leeta to catch up with him. When she does, he shows her the key, tilting his head in his usual fashion as he considers the implications of finding the object.
Uncovering the stone, you find that it is not runes carved into it, but rather a picture. The picture on this stone portrays a young girl with a raven perched on her shoulder and a stag at her side. She holds a hand out over a bush, half of which has blooming flowers while the other half has withered and dead.
Before stopping to search the four remaining stones, Kullogal makes a 30ft staircase to see if he can get a better vantage point. From the top of the staircase, he is able to peak through the canopy of trees above them. Though he has to brush away a bunch of spider webs in order to do so causing more normal sized spiders to descend from the trees on top of him and his companions below. Looking out of the canopy, the triton immediately squints as the sunlight meets his eyes.
"Im... fine,"he says in an undertone, even though he clearly isn't.
When Mizusays this and turns to keep walking instead of waiting, Leeta lets out an irritated "*."%&!" . Then she switches from undercommon to something far more understandable.
"Really! Is this a genasi thing or what? You guys could learn a thing or two about expressing your feelings. Sheesh!" . She's saying this mostly to herself, but then she adresses Mizu - or rather, Mizu's back - directly. "There's nothing wrong with admiting you are not fine, you know? But okay, don't mind me!"
As soon as she says that she clicks her tongue, knowing that getting angry isn't going to take her anywhere. Trying to regain her composure, the halfling closes her eyes, counts up to ten and lets out a veeeery long and deep breath. By the time Leeta opens her eyes again, Somaseems to have put some sense into the water genasi. Smart bird! She draws a slight smile, walks up to them and once again rubs the hawk's head softly.
"You are very lucky to have her", she tells Mizu. Then rolls her eyes, shakes her head and changes topics, "Aaaanyway, what did you find? A key? Wonder what will it open..."
“Quit messing around with those spiders and get over here…”
"... hey, I wasn't messing around!", - she retorts, "I was dealing with a potential threat! But let's see what you found.
Leeta takes a look at the picture that Kulogallhas found. Could that be a picture of Rose Withermore? Remembering what Rowarintold them, she tries to see if the girl in the picture has elven features. She also takes a look at the rest of stones to see if there's anything interesting carved on them. Of course, the monk doesn't really expect to find a keyhole just here, but then, where's that key supposed to go? Why was it hanging just over the pool? (OOC: Investigation 11 ... not great...)
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Mizu gives Leeta a blank look, "I am fine."He blinks, his face as placid as ever. Seems he is either stubbornly trying to pretend he's fine, or he's just in denial. Regardless, he looks at Soma when Leeta say's he's lucky to have her, and simply nods before looking back at the key. Tilting his head to one side he says hesitantly, "It... seems too convenient. Like it was meant to be found."
He follows her slowly as she moves to take a look at what Kulogall found. As they move forward through the now cleared path, Mizu gives Rixian a blank look... which probably meant something but, well since it's blank it's hard to tell. Fortunately, he gives a small nod as well, probably just in thanks since the fire genasi's flames have proven invaluable once again. Then he turns his attention back to what the others are looking at.
Kulogall stands closer to the pool, looking at the carvings, trying to make them out. ? Runes? He looks up to see what is overhead. If necessary, he uses shape water cast a couple of times to make blocks of ice stacked such that it is form of a staircase. He calls out behind him “Quit messing around with those spiders and get over here…”
That rather impatient remark was enough to worsen Rixi's mood and at the same time, smash his flaming polearm so hard into the ground it ends up destroying the rest of the webs at once. And it was coming from someone he never intended to team up with either. No one notices it since they've all crossed, but if anyone does look back at the sluggish Fire Genasi (which might have been Mizu due to his blank look), the emblem on his neck has turned dark red again. His red, almost insane eyes are glowing even brighter, coupled with heavy, almost demon-like growls. Mouth bared in absolute fury over someone who he wrongly thinks is annoying him, The only thing keeping him from becoming unhinged is Leeta's voice saying something he can't really comprehend right now. Plus the sight of Soma calming Mizu down. He steels himself, shuts his eyes and breathes as he walks. Now's definitely not the time to pick on others; If he does, it would only help his target. Plus his curse has reactivated, even with the pain ceasing for now. "I'm not..."He whispers to himself, though he'd wished Leeta would have heard him too in a way. Mizu might not have noticed, but his blank stare didn't really do much to reassure him as he squints back in confusion.
Trying to distract himself from his own worries, Rixi immediately starts scouting for his own clues (and think of how concerned his shifter teammates would be if they were with him) once they've reached the staircase. Nothing really interests him much, even those runes, except for that picture. Is it Rose as he had predicted? He's still firm on thinking that Rose is the culprit, but if that means encountering her right now should they move in... In fact there's not much time left before he needs to revert to a normal polearm. Keep his weapon ignited does consume energy, and he's already feeling the strain of maintaining it for a while now. If anyone moves in though, he will move second in line. Right now, if it's just a spider he's about to fight, he'd be better off encountering and finishing it on the spot rather than having to hold this grudge for any longer.

From Kulogall’s vantage point, he sees the sunlight through the canopy and says mostly to himself, “Maybe that’s what we need, more sunlight on this area. Do you guys see anything down there?” Kulogall starts to use fire bolt aimed at some of the vines and canopy over the pool, trying to clear it so that sunlight shines down below.

Leeta takes a look at the picture that Kulogall has found. Could that be a picture of Rose Withermore? Remembering what Rowarin told them, she tries to see if the girl in the picture has elven features. She also takes a look at the rest of stones to see if there's anything interesting carved on them. Of course, the monk doesn't really expect to find a keyhole just here, but then, where's that key supposed to go? Why was it hanging just over the pool? (OOC: Investigation 11 ... not great...)

Mizu gives Leeta a blank look, "I am fine." He blinks, his face as placid as ever.

"I'm not..." He whispers to himself, though he'd wished Leeta would have heard him too in a way.
