Mayres raced down the winding and dusty road, sparks flickering between his long fingers. What he had said to Alden earlier was true, elemental magic did not come as naturally to him as the other schools, but the kind of spell-craft that Mayres was the most adept at wasn't generally accepted in social circles.
Alden keeps his distance to the Goblins and moves 15ft towards the horses. He sees Luk storming towards the nearest goblin with incredible speed and a loud roar. Quickly but with precise composure, he aims his longbow at the other opponent hiding in the bushes.
With a sillent voice he sais to himself "got you little fella" an fires an arrow
8 to hit (character sheet / game log)
8 damage if it hits
Alden reacts with astonishing speed, sprinting into a more advantageous position before drawing his bowstring to his chin and letting fly. Perhaps a moment's pause may have been prudent, as the rushed shot disappears into the gloom of the woods without harming the goblin.
12 damage if it hits the goblin. My character isn’t picky, he’ll hit the closest one.
As Alden manoeuvres, Luk takes the direct route. Clearing the steep bank in a couple of long-legged strides and crashing into the undergrowth, the huge barbarian obliterates the goblin with one swing of his mighty axe. The look of surprise on the foul beast's face the moment before its demise was almost comical.
The High Elf scans the area, trying to discern if there is any danger, but the trees are too close to each other and the banks on the sides of the road are too high, so soon he gives up, opting instead to wait for more information from the two party members that went ahead to investigate. These few minutes of stillness and anticipation feel like hours as Aeran listens intently for any additional communication from the human ranger and the goliath.
And then a shout finally pierces the air, but it is not in the language that the paladin expected. The unfamiliar voice, followed by the warning of ambush, immediately alarm Aeran and he fetches his longsword.
“This is not a good idea,“ he mutters softly, but what choice does he have? The wagon is too slow to turn back and he's left without sight of the rest of the party. Abandoning the wagon to go and join the rest of his companions isn't an option either.
With a heavy heart and gripping the reins in one hand and the sword in the other, he signals the oxen to continue forward.
Initiative: 7
Aeran urges the oxen to greater expedience as the sounds of battle filter back towards him from round the bend. The wagon trundles forward 20ft.
Mayres raced down the winding and dusty road, sparks flickering between his long fingers. What he had said to Alden earlier was true, elemental magic did not come as naturally to him as the other schools, but the kind of spell-craft that Mayres was the most adept at wasn't generally accepted in social circles.
In a feat of exertion, Mayres sprints 60ft up the dusty road towards his companions.
As the remaining goblin to the North of the road sees his companion bisected by Lukuth's axe and feels the wind from Alden's arrow flying past him, he turns in a panic and fires his shortbow at the Goliath in a desperate attempt to keep him at a distance.
Attack: 19 Damage: 6
At the same time, two more goblins reveal themselves to the South of the road, whooping as they emerge from cover to fire arrows at Alden.
The terrified goblin who loosed an arrow in panic at Lukuth gets lucky as it finds its mark in the barbarian's thigh. He, however, barely seems to notice. It is little more than the prick of a thorn to him.
The two who had been hidden to the South are able to take their time and draw a bead on Alden, the only target remaining on the road in front of them. He sprouts feathers from his back and his right shoulder and cries out in pain as he crumples to the floor.
The goblin is rooted to the spot in fear as Lukuth leaps towards him, the blood of his first victim spraying from the blade of his axe as he swings it. The axe bites deep into the goblin's body and instantly snuffs out the life within. Lukuth stands over the body of another dead opponent.
Each time the oxen hooves hit the ground, the sound echoes louder in Aeran's ears. The wagon creaks, squeaks and groans as it inches closer at an agonizingly slow pace towards the bend of the road. In the distance, the paladin can hear the unmistakable sounds of a skirmish, confirming the presence of an ongoing attack, but for some bizarre reason, all that fills his senses right now are the noises of the wagon as it creeps closer to whenever the rest of the party is.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
The spectacle of the tall, thin, pale human waving a tree branch does little to bother the two remaining goblins, who see the giant barbarian in the trees across the road as a far bigger threat given what they've just seen. Jabbering anxiously to each other in goblin, they seem to reach some sort of agreement, loose an arrow each in Luk's direction, and make a run for it through the trees and onto the road, slithering down the steep bank and looping behind the horses in order to keep them, and some distance, between Luk and themselves. They seem to be heading for a track that leads north off the Triboar Trail just beyond where the horses are standing.
Both arrows fired by the panicked goblins fly wide of their mark and disappear into the trees with the sound of tearing foliage.
The wagon has trundled painfully slowly to a point where Aeran can now see the scene unfolding in front of him: Alden lying inert in the road, the horses and debris, one goblin running across the road just beyond and another just exiting the trees on the right hand side. He cannot currently see Luk, but can hear him bellowing somewhere in the trees to the left.
Back to Lukuth for the start of Round 3. Just a reminder of the initiative order:
Lukuth
Alden
Aeran
Mayres
Goblins
The scene after Round 2. Aeran and the wagon are now 20ft beyond Mayres to the left of the screen, approximately 105ft from the goblins. The one in the road is partially obscured by the horse. The other is exposed as it exits the trees and starts to slide down the bank.
Noticing the goblins fleeing Luk will run towards them and if close enough try to hit them with his axe, if not close enough he will try to either jump to them or throw his javelins,
Finally, the wagon reaches the bend in the road, and Aeran can see what is going on. The first thing that he notices is the guy who was riding on the back of the wagon waving a tree branch in the air. Furrowing his brow, the paladin observes the erratic and strange behaviour for a moment, but soon he notices the other guy, sprawled in the dust ahead and unmoving. Him, Aeran recognises as the ranger, but it is difficult to figure out if the man is dead or just knocked out. Since the high elf is still too far away for anything else, he urges the oxen to move faster.
Lukuth sees the goblins fleeing and moves to cut them off. Warding branches from his face with a raised arm, he sets off sprinting out of the woods, clears the bank in two great strides, and hits the road running. Closing on the lead goblin, he hurls a javelin at the run, adding his forward momentum to his great strength to make a devastating blow. At short range the javelin pierces the beast's chest and sends it tumbling backwards across the road, skewered like a skinned rabbit over a camp fire. Three dead goblins.
Mayres swings the tree branch from 55ft away from the nearest goblin but feels it slip from his hand and he loses control of it.
As Aeran trundles another 20ft closer to the action he sees Mayres ahead, who seems to have now run and thrown the tree branch that he was waving earlier. It cartwheels down the road and comes to rest without troubling the sole remaining goblin, which is desperately trying to avoid the fate that has befallen its three comrades. Looking down the road, Aeran sees Lukuth burst from the woods on the left hand side of the road before skewering a running goblin at short range with a thrown javelin, and notices that Alden has two arrows protruding from him as he lies in a heap on the road.
Watching the latest act of violence on one of its colleagues, the last goblin sprints with a speed born of abject terror past Luk and disappears into the woods to the North of the road and to the East of the track that leads North off the Triboar Trail.
Would it be okay to make an opportunity attack before the goblin manages to get past me.
Lukuth used his maximum movement to get where he is now and the goblin skirted around him, never going within melee range. So no opportunity attack I'm afraid.

All good, Luk in intent on turning the dead goblin that was skewered into mince meat with his great axe.

Luk looks over at the other goblins and growls. He will try to attack them on his next turn.
Mayres veered to the side of the road suddenly. Wrenching a dead branch of of the nearest tree, he waved it around as an improvised weapon.

Assuming he makes it into range, he took aa swing at the nearest Goblin.
