'Good... I hope Amir arrives soon and ready for action!' Duwamilly thinks, placing herself between the supernatural beast and the Cultist.
Doing her best not to let the enemy notice how much she is trembling, the ex-Preceptor, holding her shield ready with one hand and brandishing her teacher's wand in the other, addresses the beast (in Infernal): "Hey, beast, leave the kid alone!"
And she unleashes the power of the wand.
(OOC: @DM: Waiting for confirmation... Is this included in the bonus round? Can Duwamilly roll for the effect? Or do we need to roll for Initiative first?)
(@Duwamilly: If you decide to unleash the blast as soon as the beast starts approaching, then go ahead and roll the effect. After that I'll roll initiative and we shall begin)
(OOC: Could I have used the wand before he got so close? Or do we decide that it took Duwamilly some time to recover from the shock of seeing one of her companions apparently decide to offer the prisoner as a sacrifice and so, by now, the hound has already approached?)

Duwamilly then takes a few steps back (so as to find herself more than 20' from the monster) then... she tries her luck anyway

As the beast approaches, Duwamilly's wand releases a crackling bolt of electricity! The devil-beast lets out a monstrous sound as the bolt passes through its body. But it looks like the creature managed to tank the worst of it.
(in Infernal) "Told - you - to - leave!" Duwamilly keeps the wand pointed towards the beast, while thinking 'OK... You survived a lightning strike... you are tough... probably angry also... but are you so eager to get another one!?'
(OOC: So, it looks like Milly and Delvindra have used their prep round, Yasmina is probably going to summon Amir. Cal, you have an opportunity to do something before the actual battle starts as well if you wish)
Current round: Free round for our heroes!!

This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
As the infernal hound seems to notice it has been discovered, Yasmina is quickly carried aloft by her winged boots, taking cover high up in the closest tree with her hood down where she touches her sapphire ring to call upon her master Lord Amir once more, the mighty djinni lord appearing with a thunderous boom above the shadowy canine. "My lord Amir, this infernal beast is a threat to my mission." The red-haired half-elf calls out to the powerful genie.
The djinni glares down upon the beast and descends to assail it with a mighty scimitar laced with thunderous force, placing itself to protect the weaklings behind it.

The djinni swoops down, his scimitar slicing into the devilish hound's thick hide like a hot knife into butter. The creature barely has time let out a cry before it is reduced to heap of fur and bone.
For a moment the body lays still... but... you are all suddenly hit with the stench of burning sulfur as black flames ignite in the hound's wounds. Within seconds, the entire body is consumed in an otherworldly black flame, and the air is almost unbreathable from the hideous smell. And then, the body is gone, leaving behind nothing but the scorched marks in the undergrowth.
"It... it won't be dead for long," the cultist says after she's taken a moment to let the shock wear off, her terrified gaze still fixed on the blackened spot in roughly the shape of a canine. "A few hours at most... Please... get me out of here before it can return..."

(OOC: Congrats on a truly harrowing fight lol! Let's see... for a CR 2 monster, looks like you each get 100 XP from watching Amir murderize it.)
Sir Charles stares at the djinni, mouth hanging open in shock. But he recovers quickly, and puts on a nervous smile.
"It seems that you people are truly full of surprises," he says to the party, then steps out of the carriage and bows deeply to the djinni. "Sir, I know neither who nor what you are, but I want to offer you my most sincere thanks for coming to our aid."

(Well this would have been the perfect time to use Banishment if Delvindra hadn't been burning her charges like there's no tomorrow😂)
Delvindra gets a evil grin on her face as she drags the cultist from the carriage and pushes her to the ground.
"YOU WANT HER? COME AND GET HER!"
(OOC: Well... that's a little bit evil lol)

The cultist cries out in terror, as the massive hound slowly approaches, licking its lips.

(Just baiting it in😅 I have faith in the rest of the party, not that I think Delvindra will lose much sleep if she's wrong.)
