After some pondering, it occurs to you that the most likely candidate for a long-lasting enchantment spell is geas, as it has a very long duration and could even kill the man outright if he tells you anything that Firion doesn't want you to know.

Unhappy that the market got rid of individual purchases for one-off subclasses, magic items, and monsters?
"I agree, Yasmina, kid" Duwamilly confirms. "It must be a Geas... And given how powerful that naughty boy Firion is, the spell is probably permanent".
"At the cost of repeating myself (wich is not such a great cost, since I'm repeating myself for free), kids" the ex-Preceptor sighs, looking at each one with her brown eyes "my best advice is still to try bringing this spy to the mountains of another dimension I know, in a place where angels can be found... They might be able to break the spell - at least the more powerful of them might. And even if not, the spy would at least be unable to spy on us anymore".
"But Milly, really old person, do you think the angels will help us then? I mean I know they are supposed to be benevolent but will they involve themselves in matters of mere mortals?" Yasmina says, seeming annoyed over being called a kid, and sounding slightly doubting over the plan.
“Well, Yasmina,” Duwamilly reasons “I am not in the minds of angels, but I have been told that they are good beings who hate injustice. And inflicting a spell on someone to make them spy for you sounds like injustice to me. I therefore hope that they decide to correct such an injustice".
"But even then, if not..." the gnome cleric shrugs "...this poor guy won't be able to keep spying on us - and he'll enjoy a holiday somewhere not unpleasant".
"That being said, hey, kids, you all have brains..." the ex-Preceptor looks at the entire party "...probably younger, and better functioning than mine, to boot!" she laughs “If anyone has other plans or ideas, of course we can take them into consideration! I just… I wouldn't feel right executing someone on the spot who was forced to act against us. But otherwise I'm fine with whatever”.
"This solution works for me too, Delvindra, honey!" Duwamilly exclaims "In fact, if Lord Akkron can help us... he should be able to help him even easier! The spell on the guy should be kid's play, compared to our curses!"
"We just have to take care that the prisoner doesn't free himself... because surely, due to the spell, he will be forced to try to do so, if he only has the chance..." the gnome cleric reflects "but it shouldn't be a problem. Fox will surely have a place where we could keep him bound and gagged".
Cal speak up, “But don’t you think that Firon can still spy on us through him, or worst, he will get lose shape change and we cannot find him again. Let us not forget that he is a high level agent and there may be more of them on this ship.”
"You too have a point, Cal, honey," Duwamilly admits "but if Fox has a secluded place for him, maybe he can not escape even if he frees himself from the ropes. Plus, maybe he needs to speak, to shspe-shift... so if we gag him we are safe. Who knows? Would you feel safer if we turn him in to the angels?"
The prisoner looks completely resigned as the party discusses what to do with him. In fact, he doesn't seem afraid at all, likely a side effect of the spell he's under. When Yasmina mentioned a geas, his expression didn't change, though that may well be because he is compelled to silence and/or isn't aware that he is under a spell.
As the party discusses what to do next, a couple of crewmen and the captain walk in on the scene, drawn by the sounds of battle.
"Would someone care to explain exactly what is happening here?" the captain asks, looking at the crewman who is currently severely injured and tied up. "You told me that you had an issue with Rupert earlier, but I wasn't aware that the issue was this serious."

"Oh, Fox, honey, so nice of you to come here!" Duwamilly welcomes the captain "The point is this is not Rupert, but a spy, who took Rupert's appearence. A naughty (but quite powerful) boy we are fleeing from sent him, after putting a magical compulsion on him to force him obey - and prevent him changing side if discovered".
"Try it yourself," the ex-Preceptor invites the captain "ask him something a sailor should know... this one will not give competent answers. Or ask him something about Rupert's far past - he will be clueless".
The gnome cleric, then, once Fox has been able to verify what she said, asks him: "We want to take him with us to the Shaded Isle, because we think that there... he can be freed from the spell. You have a closed place where could we keep him prisoner while sailing? We wouldn't want him to be able to free himself from the ropes and escape... You know how spies are, Fox..." she winks "if they dive into the water, they can become undercover spies in no time..."
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Coming down the stairs to join them, Captain Fox and his crew members are met by the angry glare of the massive djinni. "I was just about to come and see you about the situation captain but it is as Milly says. And I should perhaps introduce his highness Lord Amir who has been kind enough to assist us with dealing with this threat to your ship and your crew." Yasmina says with a polite smile, quickly stepping up in front of the djinni. She the turns to Lord Amir. "Why don't you scan the horizon for any more threats my Lord?"The red-haired Half-Elf then turns and says to the djinni who nods and turns into a wind to do just that.

"...or is it a Geas spell?" The red-haired Half-Elf says, stopping to watch the shape-shifter intently.
Delvindra turns with a low snarl but, when she feels the hand on her shoulder, her eyes soften.
"Right," she says as she backs away from the prisoner and slips the ring of mind shielding on with a nervous clumsiness.

"We could bring him with us."
Delvindra lowers her eyes, as if ashamed to speak.
"Lord Akkron is supposed to be very powerful. Perhaps he can break the spell. If not, Milly can send him away then."
She turns her eyes to Duwamilly.
"If you really think he can be redeemed, isn't it better to try here then to banish him and hope for the best?"

"I am willing to go with the flow but I would like to stand guard until we land on shore."
"You are such a conscientious and diligent boy!" Duwamilly compliments the colossal paladin "Good idea! Staying alert won't hurt!"
