Rhaenys feels a rush of emotions as she sees everything that has is happening: the fear when she saw the mouther getting free of her telekinetic grip, the worry when she saw Flinn fall to the ground, the relief to see Hewelathan heal him, the pride for Tytus and Jodie's combined strength in hurting the mouthers down below, and of course the amazement when Hewelathan and Korba manage to stick the selected mouther into the cylinder.
As all the scene is developing, she turns to the cylinder to secure it further, using Stafford's magic to put a magic lock into it.
- Okay okay...a password! What password?? Uhmmm. Okay, "RAGAMUFFIN"!! - she says aloud, as she establishes that the whole party, and Theodemar Hercan, will be able to open the lock using this word.
Flinn takes a deep breath that sounds more like a scream as he sits in the spot where the mouthers got him. Somehow Truthseeker is still in his hand.
"Amazing..." says the sword in his mind
"Wait, what were you was saying..."
"Not now... the beast!! Attack!! and keep your eyes open this time!!!"
Not really thinking, Flinn stands and tries to cut donward the chaotic mass of meat and teeth in front of him with both hands, noticing that it was gnwaing at his metal boot.
"AAAhhh let it go!!!"
(Nat 20!! for a total of 28 and 14 damage. Worst roll and better one in quick sucession... what a roller coaster!)
Jodie smiles with a kind of wicked delight at the roaring fire storm, but mood sours when she see the other mouther survive. At least we trapped one. Oh, I'll need to think of names...
Jodie pulls out her shortbow and lets fire an arrow at the remaining mouther. (Atk 7 🙄). "These bracers don't seem to be helping..."
With the cylinder secured and only one mouther left alive, Rhaenys - still in her changeling form - decides to attack. She summons a flaming sphere right in the mouther's back and then warns Flinn:
- Flinn, don't come near the sphere! Try that only the mouther stays next to it!
Action: cast Flaming Sphere (Staff status: 38/50 charges). ST is DEX DC 16, and the damage rolled is 7 fire damage.
Tytus is done affixing the piton in sturdy place, and has the rope tied to it, then he looks again at flinn, and sees him slicing trough the mouther instead of letting his last breath. "Oh that is unexpected surprise, but a welcome one." he mutters to himself and then shouts to Flinn: "Flinn I was going to pull you out of there, but since you are on your feet again how about you come up yourself?" - and he throws the rope down to make it easier for Flinn to climb up.
and then he recasts Create Bonfire on the spot of remaining mouther DC=13 (DAMAGE 3) in case Flinn decides to stay. Tytus exclaims while waving his hands: "pogorywaj dola mi fizerku piekolny!"
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Hewelathan sees that Flinn did not disengage from the gibbering mouthers and that the remaining one is already trying to chew on his feet. "Paladins!", he mutters in frustration, drawing his moon cicle.
Hewelathan knows that they need to kill the monster before it gets another chance to eat Flinn, but seeing the fire unleashed by the others, Hewelathan suddenly remembers the glittering circlet that he's been wearing on his head all day. He focuses on the gibbering mouther, and three beams of light leap from the circlet's clear crystals toward the creature, each one like a beam of sunlight that's been focused by a lens into a scorching ray.
Movement: None Action: use circlet of blasting to cast scorching ray at GM3: Ray 1 attack 14 Damage: 10 Ray 2 attack 26 Damage: Unable to parse dice roll. Ray 3 attack 25 Damage: Unable to parse dice roll. (Attack rolls include +1 bonus from holding the moon sickle Free Action: Drawing his moon sickle
Ray 1 attack 9 Damage: 9 Ray 2 attack 21 Damage: Unable to parse dice roll. Ray 3 attack 19 Damage: Unable to parse dice roll.
(OOC: dice roller problems! 😜 The three lines are the same with just the ray # changed, so I don't know why it's complaining about two of the damage rolls. In case it doesn't fix itself, I'll just reroll the damage here.)
And with that, Korba's blast of magic spears the monster. It lets out one final shriek, then collapses into a disgusting puddle of deformed flesh.
Hewelathan lets out a sigh of relief. He looks around and asks, "Everyone OK?" He scrambles down Tytus's rope so that he can retrieve his javelin from GM2. Then he climbs back up and goes to the jar with the gibbering mouther.
Once everyone has a moment to collect themselves, Hewelathan says, "Thanks for your help, Korba! I almost lost it there. We still need to get this thing out of these caves, and we don't know whether there are more of those deformed goblins, or other monsters down here. Tytus, do you think that you can lead us out, following your chalk markings? And Rhaenys, can you can magic the jar at least back to the main tunnel? Once we get back there, I can fetch the cart and wheel it out."
Tytus is relieved that he did not had to go down. He decides to leave the rope there secured to a spot. However when everyone from the party comes he, Tytus pulls the rope up and leaves it there. He has a strange feeling about that black sphere and if they were to ever come back here, the rope might be useful. "Well, i can certainly try /Tytus winks and Hwelathan/ I wonder what our contractor knows about that thing... / pointing to black sphere/ It bothers me..." He stares into the hole for nearly a minute. "Ok, does anyone need some pause before we go?/looking at Flinn/ I will do my best to get us out quick, but we may find more of those little weirdos and we should be ready. I can stand guard ahead."
OOC: I propose a short rest if anyone wants it, if that occurs Tytus will get invisible and scout ahead (about 40 feet from the rest) with torch, then throw the torch about 20 feet further and observe the tunnel lit by torch from safety of dim light.
If we wont stay for short rest then Tytus will try to lead the party out being invisible and carrying torch. ( should i roll some survival for finding a way, or maybe perception to find markngs? or is it easy peasy going when road is marked?

- Sure- Rhaenys says to Hewelathan - We can do that.
"We? Aw, thank you, dear. I like feeling included."
The sorceress rolls her eyes, but can't help smiling afterwards, feeling the rush of optimism after the battle has ended with everyone in one piece.
- And I'm fine with resting of course. Flinn will surely appreciate it, and this big boy- she she adds, knockig the cylinder - is not going anywhere. Do you guys think it is comfy in there? - she laughs, and then sits in the nearest rock she can find.
(OOC: I'll re-cast Telekinesis right after we finish the rest. This will set Stafford in 33/50 charges. Marking it already)
I wonder what our contractor knows about that thing... / pointing to black sphere/ It bothers me..." He stares into the hole for nearly a minute.
Hewelathan shrugs uncomfortably. He says, "I don't like to think that an uncle of Lady Elora knew more than he told us when he sent us here, but we can ask him when we bring him this prize." He points to the jar where the gibbering mouther continues to press up against the sides of the jar, trying to bite it with its many mouths. "We've killed the other gibbering mouthers, and we don't seem to be under immediate threat. If you're curious, you could climb down and investigate more. Perhaps there's some clue or sign that may tell us more about that black sphere and its purpose here."
"Ok, does anyone need some pause before we go?/looking at Flinn/ I will do my best to get us out quick, but we may find more of those little weirdos and we should be ready. I can stand guard ahead."
Hewelathan votes to leave sooner rather than later. "I don't like the thought of resting near that black sphere. This place feels...wrong." Regarding Flinn, "Oh, right! Flinn, you're so uncomplaining about your injury that I forgot." He takes a small cloth from his pouch and unwraps it to reveal several berries, like large raspberries but a bright bluish-violet color. "Here," he says, handling Flinn 6 of the berries, "these berries are from a spell that I cast last night and should still be potent. The berries are enchanted and carry a wholesome blessing of Nature's bounty. Eat them slowly: you'll find them filling! But they will also help your body heal its injuries." He carefully folds up the remaining berries in the cloth and puts it back in his pouch.
(OOC: if Flinn eats the berries, requiring 1 round/berry, then he gains 6 HP.)
"Ah you are right. One look wont hurt, and i might find something useful." (Arcana check 8+3=11 /i assumed arcana - correct me if i need something else/).

Since it's still right next to Flinn, it will try to eat the poor Paladin a second time.
