Jodie looks a little uncomfortable with Rhaenys question. "She was in my last party, until all hell broke loose when Smiler [Tooltip Not Found] a tribe of barbarians that slaughtered them all..." Jodie trails off and then changes topics.
"I can do the haggling. I need the practice. Hopefully my charm will be more effective with the townsfolk than with wizards. Perhaps we should see what the captain's price is before spending all our gold. The hand crossbows should fetch some coin. I could at least buy healing potions with the proceeds."
You can sell the crossbows at 75% of their listed PHB value (rounded down), and buy (common) potions of healing at a 20% discount after that roll. Just tell me how many you sell and buy (respectively)

Unhappy that the market got rid of individual purchases for one-off subclasses, magic items, and monsters?
Looking through his dark glasses, Korba conjures up a small swirl of sand in his hand and says, "As you say, I have the ability to fight from range when need be.
(OOC: I should have known that Warlocks would have a better ranged attack!)
OK. It sounds like we're selling 5 hand crossbows, and it sounds like Jodie found a buyer who has a weakness for redheads. 5 hand crossbows at 75% list price is ~280 gp. A potion of healing at that discount still costs 40 gp.
Once we've sold the crossbows, Hewelathan would like to buy some javelins since those worked well for him in the cave or maybe some darts (more compact to pack). With his belt, Hewelathan doesn't have to worry about the weight, but as a 5' tall half-elf, there's only so much he can practically carry. (Maybe he should have gotten a Quiver of Ehlonna!)
Hewlathan says, "I agree with Rhaenys: let's make sure that we have at least one healing potion for each of us or at least a healer's kit for the group. In the future, I may not always be able to heal someone right away, so you may need to stabilize your comrade before Jodie, Flinn, or I can heal them properly."
"Since we're headed away from populated areas, we should probably also stock up on rations and maybe an extra water skin,"Hewelathan suggests. "One goodberry provides enough nourishment to keep you going for a whole day, but I believe that most people don't find that to be a satisfying meal."
Finally, thinking about the Shaded Isle, Hewelathan suggests, "Given our destination, maybe we should also get a couple of flasks of holy water?" He's worried about running into unfriendly undead. Aren't some of them immune to damage from mundane weapons?
(I'll just assume that you guys are going back to Lady Elora's after you're done shopping)
You return to the mansion in a timely fashion, now loaded with a lot more gold. The day is still young as you took the monster to the wizard first thing in the morning.
Lady Elora's servants bring you to her study to meet her. When you arrive, there are three people with her. She beams at you when she sees you.
"You couldn't have arrived at a better time!" she exclaims. "These three brave souls are willing to take you to the Shaded Isle... if... if you still need to go there, of course. I can say with confidence that any one of them would be an excellent choice to take you where you need to go."
(For the sake of simplicity, I'll give a brief description of each captain rather than a full dialogue; if you have specific questions for any of them before you make your selection then I'll be happy to have them answer in-character).
Captain Anderson: Retired navy officer who has developed a bit of wanderlust. Exceptional combatant and strategist, but a very strict disciplinarian with zero tolerance for insubordination or similar funny-business. Juggernaut of a ship armed to the teeth with a crew of the toughest sea dogs you're ever likely to meet.
Captain Fox: Former smuggler who has gone 'fully legitimate.' Excellent at stealth missions, deception, etc. This guy strongly believes that the best way to win a fight is to avoid it. Captain and crew alike believe in a policy of doing jobs without asking or answering any more questions than absolutely necessary. The ship is quick and maneuverable, with relatively light weaponry for those fights that cannot be avoided.
Captain Blythe: A free-spirited adventuress, drawn to the sea by her heritage as a water genasi. Her ship is both well armed and agile, though perhaps not so specialized in either area as Captain Anderson or Captain Fox's ships (respectively). By far the most lax of the three in regards to discipline and procedure.
All three are offering transportation for the same cost (60 GP per passenger), though you may be able to negotiate a slightly lower fee with a good Persuasion roll.
After hearing the introductions of the captains, Korba turns to his companions and says (while the captains are enjoying the Lady's hospitality and not listening in), "Though normally I'd be all for discipline and order, in this case I think someone who won't ask questions and can get us there quick and safely is the best. My vote goes for the Fox."
- Same! - Rhaenys adds after Korba - Well, except the discipline part. Not than fan of that. Anyway. Fox. Yeah. Foxes are nice. And this captain looks nice too. I mean, capable. Useful. Well, you know what I mean.
Sorry for the one liner, but I can't do much now and I don't want to block the decision :)
Jodie smiles, "I've never been one for following the rules. Captain Fox sounds good or Blythe perhaps. Smugglers are practiced at ditching their goods in tough situations. I have a feeling the water genasi might revere the power of the harp to control weather. Let's meet with both and negotiate the best price."
Jodie asks Lady Elora for introductions with the Captain Fox and Blythe.
Jodie can make persuasion checks or give advantage to Rhaenys (both have +6 until I get expertise)
Tytus talking to the team: "My personal preference would be Captain Anderson, i find other two hard to put my trust on them. If this is a vote and we consider either Fox or Blythe then my vote is for Blythe. However if you do not mind I will try to haggle with Captain Anderson and maybe if i am successful, a lesser price might turn your vote to him."
Tytus comes closer to Captain Anderson, and asks about how he runs his ship and what would be the rules if they sail with him /Tytus asks this in a manner that would made him look like he understands why the rules are important and asks about them to ensure fulfilling agreement/ After short but on-point chatter he asks for at least a 10g per person less to charge them and also Tytus assures that if they run into trouble The Team can be a fine addition to fight under his command while on the ship.
/rolled Persuasion with disadvantage as whole conversation was with Tytus standing next to captain Anderson and looking forward (as in not in the Captain direction at all to avoid eye contact and sensing that such a figure would be strong on making eye contact while talking). Persuasion is 5 :P

Why, with this harp I could make it a sunny day at the beach or bring a storm upon other ships. Provide us a better fare and I offer you control of the weather while aboard."
persuasion25 (In chat, ideally with advantage with Rhaenys's help)
Though Rhaenys prefers Fox she's happy to accompany Jodie to test the waters with Blythe. She has to contain herself A LOT from saying that aloud. The genasi might not find the pun funny. So she just says:
- Also, can't stress enough how much I like to see a female captain! You could be the envy of your male counterparts!
Telephatically she says to Jodie: "Hey, what do you think if we try to haggle with Fox too? We could see who offers the best price. This is fun!"
"Aren't you forgetting something, my dear? Did you apologize to the beautiful redheaded lady already?".
Suddenly, Rhaenys's body language changes to display a shier demeanor. Which is weird on the outside as she was being pretty chill mere seconds before. Then she adds, again telepathically:
"Uhm. Sorry about before, by the way. I'm sorry for what happened to your band. And if you ever ... let's say... want to discuss tactics or something to deal with Smiler in case he's freed again, you can count on me! And on the rest too, I'm sure! We can think of something".
Okay... so... on nearly opposite ends of the spectrum we have Tytus being so weird that Captain Anderson is seriously considering raising the price for passage, while Jodie's flattery is enough to convince Captain Blythe to cut the cost down to 45 gp per passenger.
"That sounds fantastic! Perhaps after you finish your business on the island you and your friends would like to consider joining the crew? So much adventure to be had in this fantastical world of ours!" the water genasi says enthusiastically.
