"Don't worry, I'm sure you're the least delicious of us all to eat." (bardic inspiration to Tytus)
Hewelathan lets out a hearty laugh. Shaking his head as they approach the the cave, he says, "I had never thought of that! I suppose one of us must taste better than the others! Let's hope we never find out."
Before he heads into the tunnel, Hewelathan tells Rhaenys, "I'll trust to Luck and leave my ears open for now. If something attacks you out here, shout, and we'll come back."
- Wait a sec! - Rhaenys says, as she touches the druid's arm - I cannot help Tytus since I cannot see him, but at least I can give you a little protection. Also, let's communicate telepathically while it lasts. It won't be long, but let's use it just in case. Be careful, guys!
So I cast Protection from Evil and Good on Hewelathan. This will last for 10 minutes or until I cast another concentration spell (such as Telekinesis).
The Telepathic speech lasts for a number of minutes equal to my sorcerer level. So a sad 1 minute. It can span 4 miles.
Korba stands at the mouth of the cave, sword, still sheathed, in hand, at the ready. As the others joke about who will taste better he smirks, and then pauses for a moment as if actually considering the question before focusing again on the task at hand.
Jodie moves within 30' of Tytus and casts dancing lights 30' ahead of him, creating 4 torch lights at the end of her darkvision. She splits the lights as needed to illuminate as much of the cave as possible. If the cave continues, the lights advanced ahead in 10' intervals.
As Jodie is moving through the tunnels, something catches her eye... she can see something carved on the cave wall. Closer examination reveals an arcane symbol of sime kind. And as you continue, it becomes apparent that it isn't the only one.

"Tytus, have a look at this. Do you recognize the symbol?" Jodie puzzles at the symbol, never one for study herself, but a lover of magic. Arcana (8)
(OOC: If Tytus is ahead of them with blocked ears, he may not hear that request.)
If Tytus notices Jodie's request and becomes visible to examine the symbol, Hewelathan motions to him, saying, "Come here a moment, Tytus." He chants quietly, making a gesture with his hand and then reaches out to touch Tytus on the head. He prays that the gods aid him in thwarting the aberration. Action: cast a spell, guidance on Tytus.
If Tytus does not hear them, Hewelathan will take a look at the symbol. While he hasn't made a specific study of arcane magic, Hewelathan is a bright and curious half-elf who has had a wide range of experience before acquiring his belt of giant strength and joining this group. He will instead cast guidance on himself and then examine the arcane symbols by the light of one of Jodie's dancing lights. Arcana8

Hewelathan thanks Rhaenys, "Thank you. Help from my friends: it's even better than luck!"
Not knowing how the telepathy works, Hewelathan just focuses on Rhaenys in the "true" form that he saw after Jodie's fire storm a couple of days ago. He tries imagine talking to her: "Rhaenys? Can you hear me? It's not just a cave. Jodie found arcane symbols on the walls that I think are connected to the Far Realm. I think that someone brought that alien creature here on purpose."
I'll just say that Tytus can't hear you from where he is...
Hewelathan:
You recognize the symbol as being somehow connected to the Outer Planes. Most likely the Far Realm... it seems that the presence of this aberration might not have been accidental after all.

"What?! Oh Gods. But ... despite that we should still deal with the aberration, right? Do we wait here or do you want us go with you?"
Outside the cave, the sorceress reports what she's been told to Korba and Flinn. She hasn't used the cotton yet, but she'll be ready to do just so when she feels danger is approaching from inside the cave.
"What?! Oh Gods. But ... despite that we should still deal with the aberration, right? Do we wait here or do you want us go with you?"
Hewelathan tries to send Rhaenys one more message before she loses the link to his mind: "Yes, I don't want this creature loose in the wild, but watch your back in case the one who drew these arcane symbols returns to the cave." Hewelathan looks down the cave as far as he can see with Tytus's torch and Jodie's dancing lights.
If the cave looks tall enough for them to dangle a large person over the cylinder without hitting the ceiling, he'll ask Rheanys and the others to join him and Jodie. They may not all be able to go deeper into the twisting tunnels, but they can move in stages, establishing positions like this where they can confront the creature.
If not, he'll suggest that Rhaenys and the others stay where they are at the mouth of the cave.
"Like the wizard?" Jodie poses to Hewelathan. "So are we cleaning up his mess here? Experiment gone wrong?"
Hewelathan stares vaguely for a moment, as though lost in thought or in a sort of trance. Then his head turns as though suddenly hearing Jodie's question several seconds after she asked it. He shrugs, "Theodemar? Firion? Some other wizard or cult? I don't know. But it means that the gibbering mouther didn't just wander into this cave for shelter. Someone put it here, which makes this hunt more dangerous. Is the wizard still nearby? Did they lay other traps here? Or lure more than one creature to the cave?"
Hewelathan relays to Jodie what he "told" Rhaenys, adding, "But I think that she has lost that link to me now."
Hewelathan looks down the cave to see whether he can still see Tytus's torch light.
As you continue into the cave, it remains large enough to carry the cylinder. In fact, it actually starts to open up a bit. As the passage winds and twists, it begins to branch in different directions. The very air in this place feels off.
How do you wish to proceed?

If Flinn and Korba agree with Hewelathan's idea, Rhaenys will suggest that Korba is the first to enter, as he will be able to see better and guide them. Flinn can go last and watch their backs as they proceed, and the sorceress will be between them. The idea is to follow the chalk markings Tytus has been doing, but doing it a little away from the others to allow them some space to keep scouting and act if they find the creature.
- I'm going to use the cotton now, so if you need to tell me anything, make me a signal or touch my arm or something like that, okay?
With that, she covers her ears, turns to the cylinder and extends and arm towards it. Nothing happens at first, but as she keeps concentrating and feeling the pulse of the arcane weave through all her muscles she sees the cylinder begin to hover. She then takes a couple of steps towards Korba and the mouth of the cave and the cylinder just follows, as if it was tied to her by an invisible rope.
As this is happening, and perhaps because the staff is too concentrated on lending one of its strongest spells to the sorceress, her natural form supercedes that of the leonin and the pale skinned and white haired aspect of the changeling is again visible.
Telekinesis lasts for 10 minutes, or until I loose my concentration. The idea is keep casting it as we move thought the caves. DM, I will need you to tell me how many times I will need to cast it to keep the charge count (I don't want to fully deplete the staff. Hope I don't need to cast the spell many times!)
Korba nods, staying quiet, though they can’t really hear each other through the wax anyway, and begins to lead inwards, shield in his left hand and his right on the hilt of his sword, ready to draw it if needed.
I can’t wait for level 2 so the dark glasses still make sense even in dark places~
Flinn seems to be muttering something to himself but it is clear for all now that he doesn't talk to himself "But I cannot be the bait and carry this big thing around all this tunnels and twists at the same time. Either I am helping here or as bait just decide and leave alone for the Gods shake..."
After a few seconds he says to the others.... "It seems I should be the perfect bait... and if someone wants to be with me should be near me, while I hold Truthseeker it provide us some protection against magic and magical effects... so I do hope it would shield us from the babbling of the creature.. Do you want me to go or... ?"he asks to the others.
Tytus is getting a little scared and have second thoughts so he doubles back to the team and says:
"- Ok listen. The cave branches so I think it would best for us to prepare in this chamber. I can scout every branch of course, but if it detects me, or anything else detects me, I will run here like crazy so you all should be ready by then. Is the cylinder falling in our target or do we bury cylinder and we lure creature to fall into it, or did you thought of something else? When you guys are ready I will go take a look around. Unless you don't want to set trap here."
