For simplicity's sake, the sets of armor are each worth 1/2 their base value (so 375 GP for each set). Before trying to haggle... they're literally scorched from a giant battle. Balbor will happily take the suits off your hands and polish them up for resale.
(OOC: Fair. Plus we have 300 gp leftover from Talice's crypt, so that's 1800 gp total. That would be enough to purchase 4 uncommon items and 2 common items at standard prices. Do spell scrolls and healing potions cost less than that, or is that a special house rule in one of my other games? A Spell Scroll (Level 3), Potion of Resistance, and various magical weapons are all listed as uncommon.)
(OOC: Nothing suggests that consumables cost less than other uncommon items. But... it makes sense that they would, so I'll say that consumable items cost 1/2 what non-consumable magic items cost)

Jodie thanks the party's faith in entrusting her with the ring. "Yes, it would seem the ring that can withstand acid would have been useful if Sserah's souls can manifest again. I do not know the final play with the Soulstone, other than a dire end... I'm not sure what I began putting the shards within it. We should consult Lord Akkron if it's not too late."
Jodie would be interested in acquiring a magic longbow, if there's time. But Ruby can also enchant it again before the final battle. Potions of resistance to cold will come in handy!
On the ethereal cruiser after having written down Ruby's spell in her spellbook Tamphalic takes out 2 cards from the deck:

Lightning resistance, as resistances don't stack I believe this doesn't do anything.
When looking at Tamphalic you see a little crack of lightning from his body as he picks the first card, but nothing seems to happen besides that. With the 2nd card you hear him mumble to himself "Yes, yes Ill ask you a question if I have one"

Jodie's wishlist consists of an enchanted longbow, a few potions of cold resistance, scroll of Dispel Magic and Mass Healing Word.
Ruby chimes in, "I would like a grimoire for my magical study. Who will claim the dragon vessel held by Firion? Is it true it can make a potion to transform into a drake?"

Unhappy that the market got rid of individual purchases for one-off subclasses, magic items, and monsters?
Nickeline, wondering if she is among the "beautiful ladies" referenced by Balbor, pipes up that she would like to purchase a Potion of Resistance to Cold and some (50 Gp worth) of powdered silver. She does not personally have the gold to pay, instead looking at her fellow party members for whoever happens to have the bag with all the treasure at present.
Ruby chimes in, "I would like a grimoire for my magical study. Who will claim the dragon vessel held by Firion? Is it true it can make a potion to transform into a drake?"
Hewelathan-Bear says, "I thought that you were to take it, Ruby." Then he turns his big ursine face to the little kobold and addresses her encouragingly in Draconic:
(In Draconic)"Who better to claim the dragon-touched drinking horn than a Dragon-kin such as yourself? You are a wizard and a leader among the kobolds. Do you not wish to assume a true dragon's form to battle this killer of dragons, Zolgu? You have seen me change my form, but it is still the same Hewelathan inside. Do not fear: bodies are ever-changing forms that hold your essential and unchanging spirit! Hasn't your body changed much since you were a child? And yet, you've always been Ruby. With magic, your form will simply make a more profound change, but the changed body will still house the same spirit."
Hewelathan-Bear switches back to Common to finish: "And you possess a mighty draconic spirit, Ruby!"
(OOC: @Faux_Beau - I thought that Ruby used all of her spell slots in the fight with Firion except for the 2 new spell slots that she got when she leveled up. We got a Short Rest, but if Zolgu is already attacking the Isle, we won't have a chance to get a Long Rest before the next battle. We'll be entering the fight with Zolgu already low on resources after the last fight. With Ruby low on spell slots, I thought that she could maybe cast a spell and then take the Potion of Dragon’s Majesty to fight as an adult dragon for the rest of the fight.)
Alright, sounds like the party goes ahead and does their shopping in Balbor's shop.
- multiple potions of cold resistance - a +1 longbow for Jodie - a +1 arcane grimoire for Ruby
Is there anything else that anyone would like to buy from ol' Balbor before continuing back to the Shaded Isle?
Korba, thinking about the upcoming fight, says, "I do not begrudge you the [Tooltip Not Found], Jodie. But we should probably focus on items that would make a bigger difference." He suggests that Hildegard could probably make more effective use of a magic weapon than Jodie can. "And more than magic weapons, we should look at items that can help us take down Zolgu faster or that can help us survive his onslaught longer. We don't need them to last long. They just have to get us through this next fight!" He points out a Wand of Magic Missiles and a Javelin of Lightning. But then he gasps in amazement when he finds the Dust of Disappearance. "Making the whole party invisible would be a terrific way to start a fight against Zolgu and his lieutenants!"
Hewelathan-Bear puts his trust in more primordial forces. He suggests an Elemental Gem, saying, "I suspect that Zolgu and some of the cultists may be flying. In that case, it could be a great help to have an Air Elemental in our service!"
Balbor also has Pipes of Haunting. The pipes don't require attunement, and if kobolds or cultists try to mob us, frightened is a fantastic debuff.
Unless Jodie can get a better deal or others have more of their own gold to spend, we have a budget of 1800 gp. Prices mentioned above are
100 gp: Common items (or 50 gp if consumable)
400 gp: Uncommon Items (or 200 gp if consumable)
Long term, a +1 weapon or a focus that provides a +1 to attack rolls and spell save DC are mathematically very strong. But since we're facing just one more fight in the campaign, I'd look for items that'll have a bigger impact in that fight.
Dust of Disappearance may help us avoid getting hit first and will let everyone make their first attack with advantage unless Zolgu has acquired Truesight. It also lets Korba use his Elven Accuracy for a 25% chance of scoring a critical hit on his first attack.
An Adamantine Lance would make of Hildegard's hits critical, and that lets her get more damage from her Smites.
That would leave us room for just one more Uncommon item if we're also going to get some scrolls or potions. (Or skip this item and just get another couple of potions / scrolls.) Here are my top picks:
Or maybe a Wand of Magic Missiles or Javelin of Lightning - a big blast of damage w/o using any spell slots. These items recharge at dawn, but a (consumable) spell scroll would be more economical if we just need to do damage in this fight.
If we get 3 non-consumable items, we'd already be at1200 GP, leaving us with 600 gp. That's just 3 consumable uncommon items. Here are the options:
Spell Scroll of Protection from Energy <== Requires concentration, but it gets someone resistance to an elemental damage type TBD when the spell is cast instead of having to pick the damage type ahead of time.
Lots of good options. Does anyone have anything else that we can trade or sell?
Tamphalic has the wand op web of party loot; it has been useful, but won't be in an open fight on the isle I guess; and it's not necessarily an item he needs or wands to keep.
