It is a warm rainy afternoon. Dark black clouds hang in the sky above, obscuring any light the sun may offer. The rain has been non-stop since your party arrived, but this is to be expected here in the vale. Many adventurers looking to prove themselves often find themselves here in search of its secrets. Some say the vale houses the secrets to eternal life, others say the goddess Myria herself lies in its deepest valley waiting for a champion to prove themselves worthy of her blessing. Whatever the case, the vale is often no more than a final resting place for those foolish enough to travel here. Many creatures lurk in the fog of the vale waiting for unsuspecting travelers to let their guard down, even for a moment. Your group sits on the bank of the Artesian River, its current flowing wildly as the days of rain cause its riverbed to burst at the seams. The boat your group traveled with now lays smashed on the bank of the river, unable to endure the raging rapids any longer.

Algir is a mighty warrior of the Titan clan. He had hoped to find himself after many glorious battles. He is a very tall man and fitting for a barbarian.
A short, blonde, human woman moves over to examine the boat. You recognized her as the captain of the boat. "Dammit, all my hard work gone to waste. Days of craftin' fer nothin'." She takes a step back and moves her wet bangs from her eyes. "Everyone alright? Can I get a head count?"
Tall, medium built male walks up from below deck. From his physique you could take a wager and guess that he's seen his fair share of battles. He nods to the captain, walks to the railing of the boat and takes a quick look around. "So... We've finally arrived then. Good, it was about time." He takes a long deep breath filling his lungs with the air of the Vale before jumping over the railing and landing on to the riverbank.
Karran Fer was a well renowned fighter and a soldier. After countless of battles and many many years as a hired mercenary he vanished in to solitude. And now he finds himself at the start of a new adventure.
"Well that's two, s'pose that's good as I could hope for" she says with a sigh. As you look across the riverbank you notice it is littered with boxes, barrels and other bits of debris from the boat. Somewhat further down the bank you can see a few people laying face down in the mud.
"Oi, captain! Is the boat gonna stay afloat? Or do we have to abandon it?" Karran yells over his shoulder as he's walking towards and approaching the people laying face down. Just checking if they're still alive. Does he recognize any of them? Are they part of the boatcrew?

"Nah, it's finished," she says with a sigh. She moves her hands over the underside of the boat with a pained look on her face.
You can see that a couple of them are breathing but most of them aren't so lucky. They were other passengers and crewmembers that fell over when the ship was fighting the current. Amongst the breathing ones is an elven man and a tiefling woman.
"Captain! These two are unconscious. Should we move them farther away from the river bank? Can you start setting a camp for us?" Karran asks the captain.
Karran sees a glimmer of a humanoid upper body above the fish tail.
Does he recognize what kind of creature it is?
Karran is feeling a little uneasy, considering the fact that they've just arrived at the Vale and Karran recalls the tales of the dangerous creatures that call it home.

"Ah, that's a shame. She was a beaut!" "Oi, you, big guy!" Karran shouts at Algir. "Make sure everyone is off the boat before she sinks!".
Karran turns to the elven man and the tiefling woman, "Are you alrite? Can you sit, can you stand?"
You get no response from either of them, they are out cold. The elf also has a large gash across his forehead.
"Captain! These two are unconscious. Should we move them farther away from the river bank? Can you start setting a camp for us?" Karran asks the captain.
*Karran tries to lift the elf and drag him*

I'd love to join in, too - level 1, and like GR_Mustang asked, any guidelines for character creation? I'll prob play a spellcaster of some flavor.
