The Captain draws a deep sigh and hands the bottle back to the gr-- back to Asher. She stands up to survey the coast. She turns to her ship, or what's left...
Her stomach drops. She turns back to the two men, clearly concerned and pale as a ghost. "The river's low...! Why's the river low!?! (Shouting) HOW LONG HAS THE RIVER BEEN THAT LOW?!!
Panting heavily, sweat mixing with the rain, Korbiña pulls the chest toward the tree where they all had been standing against the march of the crabs... she looks around... toward the captain, then at the river...
"Guess there's a big wave rolling in, huh?
Then she opens the chest as quickly as possible and hands everyone two ration packs from within.
"Took these as prevaution in case something like this would happen, so take them. The chest is too heavy for me to carry around anyway, so better make use of the contents before everything is lost..."

"Low?" Gregory looks at the river. Obviously not a sailor "the rivers low? What does that mean?"
The Captain points to the treeline. "Alright, screw scavenging! Everyone haul ass! There's a slope up just beyond the trees. We meet at the top. We've got a minute, maybe less! MOVE!" Without waiting for acknowledgment, she breaks into a sprint towards the mangroves. As she does, a noticeable rumble can be felt. Beyond the pelting rain, a dull roar can be heard, gradually becoming louder. Closer...!

Asher takes the rations and the bottle and puts them in his pack and runs towards the slope. " should have paid more attention to physical study's at school"
As the first two breach the treeline in pursuit of the Captain, they find the "slope" she mentioned: a cliff.
It's not steep, but the heavy rainfall has softened it considerably. It's now a wall of dribbling mud, loose stones, cascading rainwater and wet roots.
(Everyone roll either acrobatics or athletics.)
The Captain herself is already a quarter of the way up.
and slips and slides back down " damn this sodden ground . no civilized man should have to slide around in the mud , i miss my library and magic studies"
Struggling to find purchase as the frail sediment crumbles under his substantial weight, the firbolg concentrates and begins to transform into a baboon (climb speed 30ft) (wildshape).
Korniña, stumbling unter the weight of her backpack, scables after the others and gasps when she sees the cliff that the captain had called a slope... she takes a deep breath and grits her teeth. She gently pats Asher's back for reassurement and grips her staff tight in hopes it will help her with the climb...
You slip a tad before tightening your grip and finding a foothold.
Daelen is the last to reach the wall, slowly scrambling up the cliff face.
@All
As you each begin to climb, you can feel the air itself shaking around you. Chilling rain pelts your faces and your left ears are numb from the growing roar. Your clothing is soaked and sticks to your skin. The Captain above you yells to keep climbing. She turns to look just above the treetops. You can't hear her but the look of shock on her face speaks volumes. Quartz is close behind, wet fur matted to his simian form. As he peaks the horizon beside her, he sees what she did.
A moving wall of mud and debris, easily twenty feet high, sweeping rapidly up the river. As it approaches, everything in front of it vanishes in a sea of muck and bile. Trees are being uprooted, boulders are being thrown like pebbles, and the roar. It's as if some great beast were rampaging it's way up the river, consuming all in it's path. The roar of it begins echoing in your heads, pounding and cascading like some terrifying psychic assault!
Korbiña arrives at the top of the slope out of breath and leans on her staff for support. She looks back down the slope, seeing and feeling the massive mud wave shake the area...
If anyone is still struggling with the slope, she detatches a rope from her backpack, hands one end to the strong ones who made it up, and throws the other end to the one(s) still struggling...
Quartz feels his body responds to the terrifying sound and vibration of the earth, unwilling to stifle the hoots and yells the baboon wants to release, he rages at the storm, pounding the ground as he scrambles in a small circle, before facing the wall of water and mud with a chest thumping yell, futily baring his sharp teeth at the uncaring force of nature.
Daelen reaches for the rope... and slips. His hand loses it's grip and he plummets off the cliff. He gives a short yelp before his body hits the ground with a dull, wet *thud.* He doesn't move.
Whatever his condition is, it's beyond you to help. The wave bears down on those of you still climbing. The Captain and the others wave and scream at you from the top, encouraging you to climb faster. Hurry.
