Ospos prefers to be in the middle of the group, not in the lead. However he's not shy about giving advice from where he is, "No, I think that way. A church has to be bigger than that!"
With Liafial leading the way, getting input from Ospos, you spot the tall steeple of the church almost immediately. After about thirty minutes, you've made your way towards the far side of the town. The small building is clearly one of the oldest in Ashstone, made from weathered grey stone that must have been gathered from the cliffs not far behind it. Warm light shines out of the dingy windows, and you find that the door is unlocked. The interior seems like it was once a functional church, but it almost appears to have been repurposed. The rows of pews have been moved off to either side of the sanctuary, and are covered in dusty black sheets. Similarly, there appear to be murals around the space, also covered in long, plain pieces of black cloth. On the far wall, there is a life sized statue of a masked woman, with long hair and a form fitting gown. It appears to be ceramic, painted with black enamel that's cracked in some places. Beneath her, next to an organ repurposed into and shelf for herbs and regents, there is a hunched tiefling woman. her horns spiral out to the sides of her head, and are decorated with dangling black feathers. Matching black robes are gathered around her frail form, sleeved rolled up as she seems to be busy embalming someone. Whispered prayers drift through the space as she works, and she doesn't seem to notice you at first.
The figure of the masked woman, the raven feathers, and the heavy use of black dressings tells you that this church is dedicated to the Raven Queen. She is certainly not unheard of in Uvalli, but few actively worship her. She is a goddess of death and fate, something of a psychopomp. Some myths tell of her originally being a mortal, but they are inconclusive as to how she obtained divinity if that is true.
"So that's a statue of Kelemvor then? It definitely fits the esthetic this world seems to be going for. Dark, gloomy, deteriorating, its all very, consistent."
Willeren jumps a bit, startled by the sudden music. Spectacles almost fall off her face as she turns. “Oh! Hello... can I help you?” Her face is lined with age, and her greying hair is tied into a neat bun. She seems a little put off hy the sudden intrusion and the strange group, but she softens a little as she looks ovee you.
Ospos will end his funeral dirge and speak to the thiefling, "I learnt that dirge when studying Kelemvor in the bard college. I hope I did it justice."
"I see, yes, travelers through the woods often find the breath in their lungs stolen away, or the blood in their veins slipping out of reach. I can stave off your end, if you were meant to pass then you wouldn't be here now. I assume you're able to make a donation to the church in turn? Our patrons are few and their offerings are spare."
Ospos: She looks at you with a quizzical look. "Kelemvor? I've never..." she pauses and seems to realize your mistake. "This church services the Raven Queen. In these dark lands, some people find comfort in her pragmatism, and the certainty of a peaceful rest."
Ospos looks appalled. "The Raven Queen? I.. ugh... donation! Yes, I can play something Raven Queen'ish for your few patrons as payment for Dril's care. That's a bargain! Let me think of a song..." He then begins to inflate his bagpipes again, a few off-key notes escaping as he does so.
Ospos: After the rocky start, you dive into a deep, resonant melody. Long, low notes echo through the room creating a melancholic ambiance, stirring a deep and somber sadness in the hearts of everyone gathered. As you bring it to a subtle, fading finish, you look up and see Willeren's eyes closed, hands clasped over her chest, a look of peace on her face.
Ava: Opening her eyes at your words, you see them water just a bit, but they widen in surprise at your offering and a tear escapes. "Oh my... that is incredibly generous of you. This... this is more than we've received in the last few years combined... thank you." She takes the hefty sack with a look of deep gratitude.
Liafial: She turns to you now with a pleasant smile, which shifts to a thoughtful look at your question. "Spirits linger for a reason. If you could find out what happened to the girl, what tragedy trapped her soul on this plane, you might be able to right the wrong. The Raven Queen is actually quite interested in such tragedies. If you were to bring her some evidence of this, something to remember it by, she would surely shine favor on you all."
"Now please rest, you've done her a great kindness already and I'm happy to heal any of your ails. Who requires the most immediate care?"
Thallan nods at Ava's insight.
"Thank you. Hmm, its possible Xandar is an aberrant, maybe the guard was detecting him."
As Others are talking about getting some healing for Dril, Thallan nods his agreement.
"Yes, lets get to this church and make sure Dril is taken care of."

(Would Ospos know what religion this is? Me as a player is guessing Kelemvor.)
Ospos takes out his bagpipes and begins to play a dirge of mourning, honoring the dead as his way to announce the group's presence.
