“Well, if someone has a torch I can borrow I’d be glad to be the bearer,” Graw says to Xa. “I’ve got a few tricks that can catch the rats off guard, as well.”
"It's best I just light up the place with Dancing Lights. As I am not much use for combat as I am right now." Varja said to everyone, reminding everyone even though he is a Wizard. He is still a level 1 Wizard who could barely do much in combat other than support, and only when he reach at a higher level would he do much more.
Glowkindle’s demeanour has completely changed with the new hope the party offers:
To Yatari - “Look I’ll be completely honest. I haven’t seen the rats, I haven’t the courage to go and look. There could be 10, there could be 50. Who knows what you’ll find in those ruins? I only know that they need to be exterminated.” At your next statement he shakes his head nervously. “I don’t think you’d be able to spend the night here before venturing down. You could maybe rest an hour or so but those rats have been getting noisier”
Everyone mark off a Short Rest before going into the dungeon
To Graw with 17 Persuasion - He nods his head slowly. “Yes of course. I’ll clean up some of the rooms upstairs for you all to stay in. Perhaps some live music will go well with my grand reopening.” His mind immediately making plans for the future of his business. He goes to the staircase to make the preparations. “See you all once the job is done.” He shouts over his shoulder as he ascends.
Whoever took the keys will now go and open the door. And you all descend into the cellar. Any additional preparations can be made now if you wish. I’ll make another post in a couple hours with what happens in the cellar.
The wooden stairs creak as you descend into the cool, dry air of the cellar, which is infused with the smell of beer and damp fur. Somewhere in the darkness you hear the scrabbling sound of claws on floorboards and a faint squeaking noise.
As Cecily's shield casts light around the room, you see that to either side of the stairs are two stacks of barrels piled over head height in rows, forming a corridor. As Xa and Varja follow the others down the stairs. The sound of the rats grows more frantic as they all come racing towards you from the end of the stacks of barrels. They weren't joking about the size of these things, they take up as much room in this enclosed space as the humans. Saliva dripping from their pointed teeth the size of stillettos. These rats want to get up the stairs, and they're coming through you!
I'm just gonna go ahead and roll initiative for everyone:
Group 1: Yatari
Group 2: Giant Rats
Group 3: Cecily, Graw, Varja, Xa
Take your turns in groups. So Yatari will go first, then the Giant Rats, then the other four can go in any order. I'll put up a battle map in a moment, but feel free to start in theatre of the mind until i get it going.
"Yeah, I think 100 gp might not be enough if these are the rats we're going to have to deal with." Varja said slowly, but he is ready to help others in any way he could with the limited amount of spells he knows of.
Yatari steps forward, taking a swing at the first rat. As she does so her eyes flicker around the rest of the room, missing the sword swing in shock at the sight therein. Eight rats are littered throughout the room, all of them now aware of the adventurers and swarming towards them. One rat tries to push past but Yatari is able to stop them from pushing into the room.
That rat and two others to the side of it all land bites on Yatari's hands and legs: 4, 5, and 6 damage - total 15 piercing damage.
The other rats are milling behind, snarling to come into the room.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
The group hears a loud, high pitched scream behind them as Xa flies up toward the ceiling and hovers over the prone Yatari. Putting his two thumbs together and spreading his fingers, he invokes a spell -- Burning Hands Dmg: 13
Graw pulls out his lute, and focuses on the closest rat to the group. He strums a note and sings, “Your heart's a dead tomato splotched/With moldy purple spots, Mr Rat!” to cast Vicious Mockery (WIS 15 saving throw). Damage: 1

"Not being in the front is a most excellent idea, Varja! And knowing what works best for 'self and party' shows true intelligence."
Xa sagely nods as his smile nearly splits his skull in two.
"I'm ready to kick some rat ass!", Yatari smirked, excited to finally see some action.
"Shall we rest of the night before heading off?", she asked as she looked around the table trying to get a feel of who she will be working with.

Ignore the number 1 in the middle, i'll have fixed that by next time

"You know what... I agree with you.", Yatari said looking around wide eyed.
Yatari runs in the direction of the rat at the left lower corner and attacks it with her longsword.
7 to hit and 4 for damage.

Varja mutters the chants to cast Mind Sliver on the nearest rat.
Int Saving 14 or be hurt by 2 damage.
Yatari breaths in a gasp of air.
To thr same rat that Varja attacked she once again tries to swing her longsword.
