Before they leave the church, Thuribula nods to Ophelia. "I will consider that path... but now tell me about your test... so that I may think and pray on the will of the Flame. If I decide to complete it... I am just to bring a fragment of delerium to you, and destroy it in front of you? That is the test?"
Thuribula, beckoning an invitation to Fenton to follow them, steps outside of the church with the paladins. It seems clear to her now that she must find a way into the city with Fenton, even if not much else is clear yet. She smiles seeing Dabbert and Maggwyn. "Greetings, my friends... I have received much good counsel here. The Sacred Flame asks much, but is wholly generous, far beyond need." Her face is lit with a joy and peace that wasn't there before, when she had first entered the church. The resignation seems to have disappeared, replaced by an inspired purpose. "Saint Tarna and Saint Ardenna go with us into the city."
Hearing Ophelia's words to Dabbert, Thuribula looks curiously at the old veteran, wondering how he will respond to the paladin's offer. The Silver Order is desperate for more soldiers in its ranks... I am sure everyone here is. Many must be lost, and often, in Drakkenheim... we must be very careful.
Ophelia and the paladins reconfirm the test with Thuribula. To destroy a fragment of Delirium to show Thuribula can and treasures humanity over money.
Outside Thuribula heads out with Ophelia and Dante and Arthur. Fenton,Maggwyn,Dabbert,Thuribula all gathered here in front of the church with the three members of the Silver Order.
While Ophelia may be willing to seek another holy blade there is... A great sadness in her eyes upon seeing the worn soldier.
It seems Sinak's magic and performance did give Fazil a quite needed edge! The members begin to smile and look upon his performance. While it's clear they are accustomed to magic at performances and being of higher status have surely seen some interesting things they were not displeased and found the performance to at least be of professional standard. Passing by the stage the waiter "Walter" had left a hat on the stage with the tips Fazil has earned with Sinak. It counts to a total of 19 gold!
"Not bad for a first night ser, keep that up and in time you may garner Lady Rochelee's attention she does have a weakness for the musically inclined. Those with the proper talents that is. May I help you with anything else this fine evening my good gentleman?"
Fazil takes the 19 gold and will share it with Sinak after they finish their business here.
"Yeah, do you rent rooms here by any chance? And if not, do you know any good places that would be willing to accept Mageborn?"
Maggwyn smirks as Ophelia touches Dabbert's cheek. She is about to make a lude comment, but sees the sadness in the woman's eyes and thinks better about it.
She stands up as they all file out of the church and Maggwyn notices the change in Thuribula, "I see you have found what you are looking for?"
"A masked mageborn will be even harder than an unmasked one. If you'd be willing to show you're face.. MAYBE the Bark and Buzzard. There was a woman who wanted the same thing. To stay secretive while also holding magical artifacts. While Lady Rochelle does not mind them we do not have rooms. The Red Lion Hotel will ask no questions and cares not about you're situation. It's expensive though, 25 gold a night but that includes food and drinks. If you're down on you're luck.. The Falling Fire has been accepting refugee's at Hendrix Farms down south not far from here. I do not know how they view mageborn but many people say they are kind and generous."
Meanwhile.. as Maggwyn looks to Ophelia and to Thuribula the blonde knight.. Arthur decides to give her a wave and a bright smile blissfully unaware of the comment she had almost made.
OOC Without a clock /candleor a feat to know the exact time it's hard to say but Maggwyn can tell it is evening and getting dark soon ^^
Dabbert's jaw clenches as he fights the instinct to flinch from her touch, and he looks away as she speaks to him about civil wars and hooded lanterns. His breathing quickens, ever so slightly, and he wrestles with something. Wrestles it back down, wrestles it away, back into some iron-barred chest in the depths of his soul. His eyes shift from her, to Thuribula, and then to Maggwyn.
"I will keep your offer in mind." Dabbert said, finally looking down and measuring his words. "The Lanterns have been on my mind as well. It would be nice to find an intersection in the desires of your two uh...factions. In the meantime, I am...torn. All I know is that I would work to lift this plague on our lands through whatever means it takes."
And like that, he has said his piece. He stepped back and did his best to put on a friendly smile, genuinely not trying to be rude but also torn in a lot of different directions suddenly.
Walter looks to Fazil and Sinak as they agree to the bark and buzzard.
"Karin's trust is hard to gain, you'll have to show you're face sir mageborn.. Otherwise it won't be something she accepts just to remind you of course. Well than.. I wish you a fine night and thank you for the performance."
Meanwhile..
Ophelia looks close to Dabbert taking a somber smile. She follows with a nod.
"Factions huh? I suppose that is one way to think about it hehe.. But if you ever need to rest you're weary soul you should. Still.. we all have a flame deep down and I can see that will is strong within you still. We are interested in working with Elias and the Lanterns."
Elias.. Commander of the Lanters and the old guard. This was a major man in the civil war... One that Dabbert would know rather well (You can PM me for details if you wish) With that she offers a bow before gesturing for the others to follow. Arthur gives a nod.
"I've never seen a.. Tiefling before? They are really pretty!"
"Arthur..."
"Huh? Oh yeah Thuribula said I should be careful in what I say.. Don't know why though.. Well good luck you all! You too soldier! The ruins are like.. Crazy dangerous so stay on you're guard.. Always!!"
OOC Do they wanna meet up somewhere specific as a group?
Thuribula silently watches the exchange with the Silver Order. Factions. Yes, indeed, there is a terrible plague on our land, and great confusion about how it needs to be addressed. So little is known, and of what is known, there is so much controversy. It is clear that the delerium is evil, a terrible force of chaos, and that Lucretia may herself be a deceiving herald of the same chaotic force...but as for what to do about it? How to approach the destruction of an entire city, royal line, and culture? How to approach the plague of a substance that corrupts and destroys while intoxicating with a siren song of power? How to approach a heretic dragging souls into perdition, feeding them to this chaos?
"Good luck, Arthur," Thuribula says, with a patient smile. "Let's duel sometime. And good luck, Ophelia, and Dante. I am glad to have made your acquaintance." She bows to them in farewell as they depart.
She smiles at Dabbert and Maggwyn. "Indeed I think I have found something... or, at least, something of the Flame has found me." She looks at Fenton (presuming he followed them out). "Whatever each of us seeks personally, I think Fenton's quest for the truth must be our guiding light... for it is the truth that, ultimately, will be of the greatest import to all of us. Power will fade, money will be spent, both can be taken from you, but to know the truth behind this plague... that is something that cannot be taken away, and which all of Westemar, Elyria, and Caspia must be told."
Thuribula raises her eyes to the setting sun. "But, now, what to do? Even the Faith of the Sacred Flame is on its own here. Now that I understand the situation here a little better... if, Dabbert, your offer still stands to help me fund the repair of Rikard's armor... I feel that might be wise."
(OOC: If it's getting late, maybe we could all look for lodging, the Bark and Buzzard is nearby to Saint Ardenna's. Although I think that Thuribula, as a Flamekeeper, can probably stay at the church? She has no money to rent a room, so that might suffice for her, but she would arrange to meet up with the others in the morning.)
Dabbert nods to Ophelia, Dante, and Arthur as they take their leave. He takes a breath, trying to release some of the tension he feels.
"Any offer I have made you stands." Dabbert reassures Thuribula. "The uh...inn is probably our next stop then. I still carry coin that is to be spent on your behalf as well. I understand that your heart lies with the church, but we made enemies on the road with the brigands that tried to stop us. My assessment is that we would be wise to stick together. However, I respect your uh...decision.
In the meantime, I have something I would like to talk to the team about, to see who is interested. I understand it may be a contentious point to some, and I am not a fan of it either, but I think it's an uh...opportunity we should at least discuss together."
Dabbert weighs his words for a moment, as seems to be his habit, and then steps a little closer to Thuribula.
"I uh...have a confession. When you left, I took care of the armor for you. With Tobias. I wanted to make sure you had it if you needed it."
OOC I'll give Maggwyn a chance to post before responding with the NPCs
Thuribula can certainly ask the church. Flame Keeper Hanna the head Flame Master would be in charge of that. But this is the same one Thuribula had doubts upon as she and her church remain neutral upon the battle between the Falling Fire and the Silver Order of Elyria.
But Hanna would most likely respect a Flame Master with the oath of poverty and allow her to stay.
Maggwyn smiles at Arthur and is way of speaking before thinking. "Pretty? Well, can't say I've ever been called that before."she gives Arthur a little bow, surprisingly enjoying the little exchange. As he wishes them all luck, "We'll be fine, don't you worry about us." and she winks at him before turning back to Dabbert and Thuribula.
"Well, I have a quick stop I need to make before turning in. Do you know where you want to stay the night so I can meet up with you all? I am definitely interested Dabb, as I'm sure you know, just a quick errand I need to do. And yes, I would like to stick together as well, just let me know where to find you."
((Sorry about the delay, been under the weather myself))
Thuribula looks at Dabbert in surpirse. "Thank you, good sir. Tomorrow morning I will visit Tobias, then... I am sure he has retired home by this hour." She looks between the old soldier and the tiefling, considering. I was planning to stay here at Saint Ardenna's. But... this is not Elyria, and it is not Flamekeeper Hanna who will be accompanying me into the ruins. She lightly touches the holy mark of the Sacred Flame that she wears. I have been given a task... even if I do not know its details yet.
She smiles. "I do not think those brigands would disturb the church, or think to look for me there. But I do think we all have much to discuss... and, so if I may presume upon your hospitality, I will accompany you, and Fenton, and Maggwyn... I would like to talk more about where, and how, our path into Drakkanheim will lead us."
Arthur on his way out waves to Maggwyn as well he tilts his head perplexed by her wink but looks determined when Thuribula talks of a duel he gives a wide grin and a nod. Leaving the party to discuss where to rest for the night.

“Thuribula is probably intent to tell us all that the crystals are evil, even looking at or thinking of a crystal will make your mind explode. Gonna be interesting to see what happens when we get there. I can’t help but thinking - - there is more to know. It is not just as simple as “Crystals bad, Destroying them all, good.” We need further knowledge about this. Perhaps even what would be considered… “forbidden” knowledge. I just want to learn more about it. What do you think?” He looks to Fazil, awaiting the others to arrive.
