“My spell doesn't work!?” Teresa was upset. However, her unrest is washed away by a surge of energy invoked by the bard's flute. “Thank you, Master Fjörn!”
The girl holds her holy symbol and speaks to the Ranger. “Master Vadania, please take cover! Hide behind the cart.” She focuses on the injured Assassin. A sound of a dolorous bell fills the air, and an image of rippling water rushes toward the Assassin.

Vadania stood up to get another arrow off and at the moment of release, he was again hit by a speeding dagger, this time in the upper leg. That impact plus his previous injury makes his shot less than what a good archer would approve of.
Terersa's voice cut through a mental fog Vadania was just now noticing. Losing blood and failing fast, the wood elf drops and rolls to the edge of the carriage roof to avoid any further daggers. Lowering himself carefully, he uses the carriage to shield himself from direct attack. Calling upon his ranger skills, he invokes Mask of the Wild to aid him in 'disappearing' from the enemies' vision.

Assassin 1 yells in pain as he covers his ears, folding in on himself, writhing on the ground. His eyes roll up and his breathing stops, there he laid still on the ground dead, tha last thing he heard was the ringing of bells.
Assassin 3 collapses lies there still but you can see the movement of his chest as he has been placed under a deep slumber.
Assassin 2 looked around her and noticed her fallen companions, a fire was ignited in her eyes, she rushes to Teressa and attacks her with her longsword.
A wailing cry - "Nooooooooooooo. Little One!" echoes into the trees. With a staggering step, Vadania moves forward and around the carriage as he draws both his short swords. Blood streaming down his left side, he still keeps moving toward the assassin that attacked Teresa.
Attack: 15 Damage: 6
^^^ Vadania swings (a bit wildly) but follows up with a swing with his other short sword [ Bonus Action: Two weapon fighting ]
Bonus Attack: 21 Damage: 3
this second swing is again, a tad wild and sprays blood in an arc that splatters the assassin as well as Teresa.
The effort to protect 'Little One' has tapped out Vadania's strength and he drops to his knees at Teresa's feet.

Post #98 by Teresa / Bobybard
Emboldening Bond to Vadania and Heidi
As an action, you choose up to 2 willing creatures within 30 ft. of you, creating a magical bond among them for 10 minutes or until you use this feature again. While any bonded creature is within 30 ft. of another, once per turn, they can roll a d4 and add it to an attack roll, an ability check, or a saving throw they make.
I would like to invoke that and add this roll to my first attack above 2
Heidi notes the fire, the fervor, in the eyes of the remaining assassin, and fears they may be dealing with a zealot. Nevertheless, she would prefer to interrogate the woman.
”Last chance, assassin! If you wish to be the one we keep alive for questioning, this is your final opportunity. If you insist on death, I shall make certain it is an excruciating one.” (Intimidation 10).
Assassin 2 starts to loose blood fast, she looks up to the sky and starts laughing," Questioning... Why would you question me when all the answers are with the one you're protecting. I guess for a puny thing like you there's not much space for a brain".

As Heidi and assassin 2 face off, Cyrano moves as quickly as he can to Teresa, and Vadania.
Athletics: 12
He climbs up from his position at the rear of the carriage. Scrambling across the top he drops down next to Teresa. He rips the hem off his cloak and stuffs it in the wound.

The shock of the first murder strikes Teresa like a thunderbolt. For a moment, she drops her holy symbol and lowers her shield. The assassin never misses the opportunity. Her sword passes through the opening in the defence and buries its blade so deep that it almost penetrates through the cleric's body.
The girl could have died if the Elf ranger hadn't stepped in and attacked the assassin. Cyrano's fast aid prevents her from passing out. “Thank you, Master…!!!” Teresa bites her lips and swallows the pain and screams. She checks her thumb, index finger, middle finger… Move! They can move. And she can fight! Teresa reaches for her holy symbol but stops. Instead, she grabs her mace and swings it at the assassin.
OOC: Can she use a non-lethal attack to knock the assassin unconscious?

”Aww.. You were trying to be cruel. That’s adorable.”
The Paladin of Loviatar sidesteps the feeble attack, and lashes out again with her whip, this time to end the fight. It wraps her adversary’s neck twice, and she snaps it taught, weighting it.
She watches the fire in the assassin’s eyes, as it turns to helplessness, indeed terror. The halfling relents, just short of killing the woman. Where would the fun be in that?
Cyrano stands up and detaches the coil of rope from his pack which he then tosses down. "Here tie that one up with this." He goes back to tending to Teresa.
Heidi retrieves her whip, from the fallen assassin’s throat, and lays her hands upon the woman’s chest. Loviatar does not grant her healing powers lightly- only that one’s torments might continue, one’s suffering find no end. The touch is excruciating, as one might expect from the goddess of pain, but indeed restorative. (ThePaladin restores up to 5 hp to the fallen assassin, to prevent her untimely demise).
Producing a set of manacles from her kit, Heidi secures the woman’s hands, and proceeds to search her for concealed weapons, written orders, identifying tattoos… anything curious.
After the battle,Teresa looks at her mace, forgetting the pain on her shoulder. Why, she thinks. Why did I choose the mace, not the spell? Was I afraid of staining my holy symbol with death? No… that's just an excuse. I was afraid of the shock of murder, putting my fear over my faith. “…And that should not happen again.” The girl speaks to herself.
@Vadania
Teresa expresses gratitude to Vadania, but the determined girl insists on aiding others first. “Please tend to my wound later. The holy bond is still active; we must not waste time.”
@Heidi
She places her hand on Heidi's shoulder. “Sir Heidi, though we follow different deities, our goal is the same. Please accept my blessing. We need to know if another group of assassins awaits us on the road.”
Guidance to Heidi: Now she can add 2D4 to her next skill check!
