Fjörn’s passive perception 12 can pick up the smug lie of Vulmon Zimhorn, “Please sir don’t insult our ability to discern your lies, your breathing eyes nostrils and posturing betray you! Continue down this path and Loviatar may have your soul. Only the truth will set you free.”

“Set me free? From what? I am as free as I can be right now.”, he says, then lifts his tied hands as he sits up, “Even with these restraints I’m more free than you shall ever be.”, a mischievous gleam flashes through his eyes.
Heidi suppresses a sigh. Their client had shown surprising promise, with his evocation… but she was still probably the only one, with the stomach to wipe the infuriating smirk from this elf’s face. Words were not working.
”And there is also freedom in death. I am in no mood for riddles. If you will not answer with truth, then you will answer with flesh.”
“Whpsssh!!”The halfling’s whip slices through the air, lashing out at the suspected assassin. (Whip 21 to hit, 10 dmg).
Vadania rolled aside and stood quickly once the assassin of assassins was subdued by the group.
'What a fine kettle of fish this has become,' he muttered to himself as he visually comfirmed his comrades and Nilavor were hale and safe.
Giving a slight nod to Teresa and Heidi, he walked over to the carriage - climbed onto the roof - using the added height for scouting out the surrounding woods and along the road they followed.
"Do you realise, Master? People typically look upward and avoid meeting others' eyes. Just like what you're doing right now…" Teresa lets out a deep breath, shifting her gaze from Vulmon to the Half-Elf. "Master Nilavor, I recommend we depart soon. While I have faith that Heidi will instil honesty in this Elf, it may take some time and can be addressed during the ride. The client of the assassins seems well-prepared. We should act before he makes his next move."
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
So if we agree to travel, Vadania up top Cyrano in the rumbler, Teresa driving, Nilavor Heidi Assassin and Vulmon inside, Fjörn will ride up front with Teresa. As we begin to travel Fjörn brings out a small horn with the tempo of the horses hooves he will begin a tune of endurance encouraging the animals to make good speed… perform 24
Heidi contemplates the curious proposition, of riding inside the carriage with the assassins, in company with the man they had been hired to kill, she had been hired to protect.
"At this point, we have captured three assassins. Too many to safely travel with, in such proximity with their target. Three too many, in truth."
"I have already extended a clemency of sorts, to this woman, in service to Loviatar; but even so, I would not have her inside the carriage for our journey. These others should, perhaps, be tried and sentenced here?"
She looks to Fjörn, to see if his rapier is still at the ready? He had been prepared to dispatch the would-be murderers-for-hire, do what the others would not.

Yes prior to travel, Fjörn’s blade is ready, at Heidi’s prompting he makes it quick… “Your life for the many lives you’ve traded for gold…”.
Teresa nervously shifts her gaze from the paladin to the bard. Heidi's words ring true in her mind; this journey is full of danger from the start. Taking three professional assassins as hostages is a risk they can not afford. Yet, deep down, Teresa wrestles with the moral dilemma of harming helpless captives.
"I... I understand Heidi's perspective, and I'll follow Master Nilavor's decision," Teresa begins tentatively. "But... could we not simply disarm them and leave them bound to a tree?"
(Seriously?) A rational yet chilling voice whispers within Teresa. (Elves in the woods are always a threat, even unarmed, wearing nothing but their underwear.)
Teresa shudders, startled by the dark thought that has entered her mind.
Heidi: When you strick him with your whip besides the gash it leaves behind Vulmon shows no signs that he has been hit. Still smiling up at you, “Come on Lady Hill, what have I done, all I did was try and help the young master and his companions. Was whipping me really necessary.”, he looks away and starts giggling.
Teresa: He then looks at you “Oh so we have someone who knows the signs. Since you know so much why don’t you tell me what I’m think-“, Vulmon was interrupted mid sentence by Nilavor who overheard this nuisance and kick his head.
”Lady Greenhil, do not mind his words. I say we should depart soon, as you can see it’s not safe staying in a single place for an extended period of time.If rest is needed as it is now 5 in the afternoon there is a tavern up ahead. It will take some time to get there but hopefully with no disturbances we shall reach it before dark. As for the assassins I would wake up the one that’s asleep and strike a deal with those 2, of course they will have to be watched carefully but there is some truth when they say safety in numbers. As for Sir Zinhorn find a way to make him immobile.”
Cyrano emerges from beneath the carriage as the assasins are delt with. Nonplussed by the groups actions he makes his own way up to the roof of the carriage. Once there he addresses Vadania.
"Good sir, if you would allow me to examine your bow I believe I have a way to enhance its performance. Only with your blessing of course."
Heidi is experienced enough with the infliction of pain, to recognize that Vulmon’s reaction- or rather, lack of reaction- is quite unnatural. Through her connection to Loviatar, Mistress of Pain, the paladin taps into her Divine Sense, seeking out the true nature of this creature before her. If there is something celestial, or fiendish at play here, she will know!
(OOC: My understanding is that Fjörn, prompted by Heidi, attempted to execute Vulmon and the other male assassin. Can we address how this played out, whether successful or not? Heidi is what she is, but as a player, I’m trying to keep this from dragging out as some sort of solo torture-fest, with multiple interrogations).

Vadania looked at his bow, then at Cyrano and then back to his bow. "Good Cyrano, I know not what more can be done for a simple bow. Consider yourself blessed for what it is worth coming from a simple ranger!" He hands over his unstrung bow to the gnome and draws one of his swords as he continues his scan of the woods and road.

Vulmon’s head flew and hit the nearby ground with a thud. There in front of your group, in the middle of the road, lies a headless body that slumps down. What will you do now?
“This monster would have watched in delight as his poisoned victim slowly died, he brazenly lied to lord Nilavor, Whiplass Heidi could not even draw a flinch… I took his life for the many whose blood stains his hands. You sister Teresa, decide the fate of these two…”. Fjörn still in guise limps slowly toward the carriage wiping his blade and sheathing his weapon.
Heidi lashes out with her whip, snapping it just shy of the other assassin, with a loud crack! With attention still on the headless corpse, it passes unnoticed that she had actually intended to land the blow.
The paladin approaches the remaining assassin, coiling her whip and stowing it on her belt, as she goes.
Assassin 2 looks at Vulmon’s corpse and hears the sound of the whip before she rushes towards the carriage on all fours, kicking up dust as she goes. “Young Lord, I accept your offer, please let us live! I will do anything s-so please don’t kill me!”, she cried , pleading with her forehead touching the ground.
”Well… I see you have made your decision, and I assume that this follows for your companion.” Nilavor responds from the window of the carriage. He looks towards all of you and says, “place these 2 in the caboose and get ready to depart. By the looks of it we’ll have to stop by an inn and continue the journey tomorrow. As for the bodies toss them in the forest, the barmaid did say that there are bandits in the area, no one will suspect a thing.”
Assassin 2 carried assassin 3 on her shoulders and quickly sat down in the caboose area. It was a tight fit for 2 people but they managed.
is there anything you want to do before you continue to travel to the inn?
Well.. Heidi’s attack had gone mostly unnoticed, while Fjörn dispatched the other. Teresa raised her shield in the prone assassin’s defense, however, and perhaps she was right to do so? “Very well. Perhaps this one’s suffering does not end here.”
While only familiar with the rudiments of shibari, with enough rope, the halfling is sure she can effectively incapacitate the two assassins. Utilizing all the rope at the party’s disposal, she lashes the two together, tightly. “You have your lives, but do not expect comfort.” (to the others): “To the inn, then, yes?”
Vanadia was not happy about this turn of events; though he supposed it was no different if the assassins had gained the upper hand. The group would have been dead beside the carriage and Nilavor taken hostage or ransom. He grunted as he dragged the headless body further into the woods. "Amazing how dead bodies take on twice their weight. It happens with deer and boars too. Nasty things, boars." Vadania kept up a running, ambling chatter to keep from focusing on the dead high elf.
"I shall need a good dunking in a stream after this," he thought as he kicked the corpse down an embankment. "Good riddence, Vulmon Zinhorn. May you fare better in death than you ever did in life." And with that, the wood elf turned and started back to the carriage.
