If everyone is going after Coal I think we might run it as a skill check. Everyone rolls a skill they are proficient with and creatively describes how it effects the outcome of the chase, for example
Athletics can be used to run faster and keep up with the runners.
Perception can be used to see where the group is going and try to get there before them.
Investigation could be used to search for laneways and backstreets to cut them off.
You can be as creative as you want but depending on the skill and how well you argue it’s use the DC will be different.
After 3 successes you will catch up with the runners. But every failure you get will effect what state Coal is in when you arrive. No failures and she will be still up with full hp. Three failures and she will be down and rolling death saves.
As Elero weaves his way through the chaotic bar, he'll snag a mug off of one of the tables and as much silverware as he can carry without incurring the wrath of any warforged, then bolt out the back door.
Since Athletics isn't his forte, he'll look for an alternate path, trying to estimate where Coal might be headed and get there first. Investigation: 19
Additionally, if he can see the Shifter and the kobolds, once he finds his path, he'll quickly empty the mug, set it on the ground at the intersection, aimed in the direction of their foe, and yell, "You can come out now, Coal. They're gone. This way. Follow me!" Then use another Magical Imbue to create the clanking sound of a warforged running. Hopefully he can lead the pursuers astray. If required, Deception/Performance check: 11
Wow, all successes. As the montage plays out of all our adventurer's running through the street in pursuit of Coal and her hunters, you never really let her out of your sights. You are able to keep up with the runners very well. However, as you all meet up at an intersection, you lose sight of them for an instant. Just as you begin to start looking around, you here a scream for help coming from a laneway. You run in to find Coal at a dead end with her sword out facing down the Shifter and 8 Kobolds. One of the Kobolds is chanting and holds a staff in it's hands. I rolled initiative for everyone, and all the baddies got higher initiative than you. You can check in Game Log. So all of them are gonna go first, then all of you. You can take your turn in any order.
I also never asked you what your marching order is, so i'm just gonna put the high AC party members up front
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
The Shifter and three of the kobolds attack Coal. While the others, including the chanter, will attack you all. The Kobolds will roll with advantage due to their Pack Tactics trait. They get advantage while their allies are 5ft from their target.
Two Attack Centurion with daggers:
Kobold 1: To Hit: 13 Peircing damage: 3
Kobold 2: To Hit: 17 Peircing damage: 6
One Attacks Elero with a dagger:
Kobold 3: To Hit: 14 Peircing damage: 3
One attacks Erix with it's sling:
Kobold 3: To Hit: 20 Bludgening damage: 6
Kobold Chanter Casts Sacred Flame at Kit:
DEX DC 12 or 6 Radiant Damage.
The Shifter and other Kobolds are hacking at Coal. She looks beat but still up, she slashes out at the Shifter. "You must be Hound! Daask bastard!"
Sorry for not rolling, I think I missed the notifications for the thread, should I still roll or should we just assume everyone is at the place where the combat is?
Kit sidesteps (DC: 21) the radiant energy streaking past his head. "Yeeeehaaaww! Missed, ya dragon wannabe" he hollers from the rooftops. Kit squeezes his eyes shut and says to no one present "Aunty Krak...now would be a good time." He opens his eyes and looks down upon the chanting kobold and a puddle like portal appears above its head.
BA: From the aquatic hole a slithering spectral tentacle emerges and slaps the kobold. To hit: 22 Cold Damage: 10
"HA!"
A: Kit's eyes begin glowing a purple dark as a black magic calla lily. From his left eye shoots a beam of eldritch energy aiming at the nearest other Kobold. To hit: 9 Force Damage: 1
Erix will cast faerie fire. Catching as many enemies as possible in the 20ft cube. Dc14 Dex save or be little up and have advantage against.

Four of the Kobolds are lit up with light, making them nice and easy to hit.

Sorry I didn’t see Erix’ post. The Thorn Whip missed the Shifter
Mark will use his background and stealth to move through the streets quickly and surprise the assailants.

The purloined silverware would be in the mug to add to the mechanical sound. I forgot to add that detail.
As the other shifter escapes Kit’s loving embrace, Kit changes tactic and he attempts to parkour his way up a wall and makes chase via rooftop.
Acrobatics: 17

The Kobolds are currently blocking your access to Coal. Although they are also all clumped together.

Nah that’s ok. Everyone else has rolled so well that you passed the skill check.
Alrighty.
Elero will recover from the shock of that attack and strike back at Kobold 3 with two dagger attacks.
To hit 9 and 7 damage on the first one
To hit 18 and 2 damage on the second one

So my 6 damage didn't kill Kobold 3?
So sorry i completely missed that message, thanks for reminding me. Yes, Elero's first dagger attack does kill a Kobold.
